Nikko strode to a tree, and sprung up to a high branch gracefully.
'Mew...' Rio sounded from the base of the trunk.
'One moment, my dear.' Nikko murmured, checking the surroundings.
'Mew!' She said again, more panicked than the last.
'Alright, alright.' Nikko jumped back down and to the ground, ears twitching he picked up Rio's leash and started to walk calmly having seen no sign of life anywhere.

16 year old Kairi Hearts was at her house doing her homework in her bedroom. "Ugh, I hate homework, especially on Fridays." Kairi complained as she finished her homework quickly. "Aahh, finally. Now, time to pick up Daisuke." Kairi replied while she put her books away and grabbed her car keys from her nightstand. "I hope he gets in the car once I park the car." Kairi hoped as she left her house.

"Lonely night tonight, Rio." Nikko murmured.
Rio simply looked at him blankly and tilted her head. Nikko ruffled her hair and she mewed delightedly. The nights had never been this eerie, something was in the air. He wanted to know what it was. The breezes were undisturbed, there was no extra shuffling apart from the sound of Nikko and Rio's bare feet.

As she was walking to her car, Kairi felt someone's presence following her. "Who's there and why are you following me?" Kairi asked the presence stalking her.
