Today we are going to discuss how to liken the scriptures to yourself. Can you name a way.

Well, one way would be like putting your name into the scripture as you read it. Like, for example:
You could take Moses 1:7. "And now, behold, this one thing I show unto thee, Moses, my son, for thou art in the world, and now I show it unto thee."
And then change it to, "And now, behold, this one thing I show unto thee, Natalie, my daughter, for thou art in the world and now I show it unto thee."

By putting our names in the scripture, it almost helps us to better understand the scripture and what is being said, and by applying it to us, it's like the speaker is talking right to us and so we might be more willing to hearken to the words.

yeah, very true. I also think it helps us listen, because alot of times when I read the scriptures I'm like yeah that didn't happen to me and it probably won't, but by putting my name in it I make it more personal to myself.
For yourself what is the most effective way to study the scriptures?

I'm not that swell when it comes down to studying, but was does help me is to look up all the words I come across that I don't understand. Sometimes I need to reread verses too, because the first time through they don't always make perfect sense to me.

yeah, I have to do that too. but honestly seminary helps me the most... even though it's early in the morning and I'm drop dead tierd. First I read a book through for just the story and then I read it again a couple of verses at a time and then I really think about them and ponder their meaning.
so are there any ways that you will try to work on when it comes to scripture study?

I'll be working on giving it more effort. I can see that they're important to us here and now, but I need to really strive to better interpret what I read.

Yeah, same here.
sorry this was a short lesson, but I was thinking and I was like you know we always talk about the scriptures and pull scriptures for different points and stuff, but what about just reading and pondering the scriptures, so I thought it a good time to have a lesson on likening the scriptures unto yourself.
are there any questions/ concerns?

I'm concerned that my absent-mindedness is finally getting the better of me.
