Takumi slipped away from his father for a bit. He didn't know how he got stuck in this pride, but knew he was going to have to live. He wore a frown, almost sad looking face most the time. Listening to whatever he was told yet not at the same time. He did what he had to do, but only half assed. He lashed his tail as he moved. His earring and necklace bounced as he moved. They matched his eyes, as well as the eyes that were given to him by his father.

The only thing that said he was Thona's son was those eyes. He wished he could make them vanish. Though, no one else seemed to notice them. He eyed around to make sure no one was around before he flopped down on a decent sized slanted rock.It made him look as if he was sitting up, but he wasn't. His pink hair covered over his eyes. Which were now shut.

Asami noticed a familiar figure in the distance. A pink, grey, and white leopard male. She smiled and crouched down as close as she could get to the ground. Her tail lashed about behind her as she slowly began to sneak towards her best friend, Takumi. To keep herself from laughing, Asami bit her lower lip and tried to remain concentrated on her objective. Her dark green eyes stayed locked on her target as she drew closer and closer to him.

There! Asami found the perfect spot and crouched down while watching Takumi closely. Her muscles tightened in her legs and she aimed towards the male. Suddenly, her muscles loosened up and she launched herself towards Takumi. She made sure she didn't hurt him when she landed on top of him. "Rawr!" Asami yelled out playfully and began to giggle. "Did I scare you?" The female leopard never quite grasped the idea of growing up mentally. She loved acting like a cub would and Takumi was another cub to play with, to her.

Takumi had long ago gave up his childhood. For now, he wasn't a child. He was an adult. A miserable adult. He remembered when things were so grand, and he could do anything... Then again, he also remembered he thought he was a little girl. He was mad that no one corrected him until another leopardess did. The only one who didn't see him differently was his life long cub friend, Asami. Someone he grew very fond of. Someone he couldn't really live without. She was the only living thing he could truly say he cared for.

Of course he'd never admit that to any of his family. At least not until he admitted it to Asami herself. He loved her, but didn't know how to say it. She never showed much that she cared for him in any way other then a friend, or at least he was blind to anything that might suggest other wise. He lay there for a second, listening to the sounds around him. He could hear, and smell someone coming towards him. His ear flicked back, he knew who it was.

It was Asami. He didn't move, nor did he do anything to recognize she was there. He knew she was to jump on him, and he'd just wait for it to happen. No point in ruining her fun, after all. As she did jump on him, he flinched when her body met his back. Not that it hurt, it was more he was expecting it to happen, so his body naturally reacted to it. "No, Asami." He spoke as she asked him a question. "You know it's useless trying to scare me" He said with a apathetic voice.

Takumi hardly smiled, or showed any type of happiness. Only she could get him to smile, but it took a bit. He rolled offer, trying to knock her off of his back. So then he could at least see her beautiful face. "Besides, your too loud" He decided he'd tell her the truth, even if she might find him a jerk for saying it. He'd make it up later, he supposed.

Although it seemed Asami never showed her true feelings for Takumi, she thought she did. Since she was still a cub at heart, she didn't know how to show someone that she loved them other than how she would treat friend or family member. Her best friend, Takumi, was the one leopard she cared for the most. He was more than just a best friend to her, but she didn't know how to show it. No one ever seemed to teach the leopardess how to grow up and she didn't want to grow up. Being a cub at heart was more fun than acting as though she had a stick up her tail end for all her life.

When her leopard friend didn't move, she thought she tricked him. His voice was calm and boring. She hadn't tricked him. "I will scare you one day." Asami said then playfully nipped him to try and get him in a better mood and possibly even a smile on his face. Her long tail flicked rapidly as she laid her head on top of his.

When he rolled over, she rolled along with him and fell of his back simply. Now, her dark green eyes were looking into his lighter green ones. "I suppose I will have to work on that then." Asami said when he said she was too loud. Her eyes wandered to the earring dangling from her friend's ear. "Where did you get that?"

"Maybe you should start with trying to scare cubs. I think you'd do a good job at that." He said with a mock in his voice. Of course he was joking with her, but he wasn't sure if she'd pick up on it. He wasn't in the mood for smiling yet. Still things on his mind were bothering him He flicked his tail and smacked it towards her body to tap her with it.

She batted at his earring, and he kinda moved his head away from it. " I can't say I remember where I picked it up. Don't suppose it looks girly do you?" He asked her. Mostly for reassuring that he didn't look too girly. Past things seemed to be a bit of an issue when he was called a female. Even though he use to think he was one... but that was the reason he had issues with it.

It seemed as though his harsh comment didn't affect Asami at all. "But I don't like cubs and they aren't fun to scare." She said simply then quickly glanced over to where his tail tapped her. As if copying him, she flicked her tail in his direction to try and smack it against his body. It was obvious that she was far more playful than he was.

"No. I like it. Matches your eyes and the thing on your neck." She said as she noticed the necklace he wore. Asami flicked a brown ear and smiled at Takumi. It seemed Asami was always smiling, she just didn't like how frowns looked on herself. She didn't like to see frowns on others either, but she couldn't make everyone smile.

"Don't like cubs, well that's a shocker!" He said slight sarcastic. He'd assume that she'd have fun playing with them when she thought so much like most little kids. Well, at least acted like a kid. It was almost hard to believe that she didn't like kids. Though, who could really blame her for not? They were dirty, smelly, annoying, you had to feed them... and all that other stuff..

Deep down, though, Takumi did want them. He was just afraid to pass the same traits that his father gave him... Spots. He loved it when Asami smiled, it was almost hard not to smile with her, but things in the back of his mind prevented him from doing so. "Well, That's good." He said with a nod, and a tiny smirk. As fast as it had appeared on his face it was gone. As long as she liked it, it was good, right?

"Well... they are strange and kind of annoying. Cubs have those high pitched voices." She said and shrugged her shoulders as she watched him for a moment. Asami would love her cubs if/when she had some of them. Her cubs would be fun, she hoped, and not like the other cubs she had met before. Of course, only the future would tell how her cubs would be and who they would be with.

When she noticed the smirk, her smile grew then shrank when it disappeared. "Why don't you smile more often?" Asami asked, trying to mock him and frown, but the corners of her mouth kept curling up into a smile as she watched him for his reaction. Her tail lifted up and playfully smacked against the ground as she watched her best friend, and so far her only friend.

"Well your voice isn't too low pitched." He said what another quick smirk. Gone before most could even spot it. Takumi was also afraid that living in this pride would make his cubs mean, and nasty like the rest of the place. But he couldn't tell if that was what would happen. All those in charge of the cubs are rather sweet hearts, he noticed.

"It hurts to smile." He lied. It seemed like a good excuse as any. He could come up with a good lie about his father smacking him in the face and hurting his jaw. Or something to make her believe it was true. But he was sure that she'd know better. She was no Nan that Thona kept around. Though, to the sense of it, it did hurt to smile. Takumi saw only one thing good in life.... Asami. Everything else was horrible.

"It isn't higher pitched either." Asami said in defense of herself. Her tail smacked at him again. "Besides, if I had too low pitched of a voice I'd sound like a male." She said with a small smile on her face as she yawned a little and stretched for a second. The conversations they had were sometimes so boring, but she wanted to be around him and wanted to keep him happy, he was her best friend after all.

"Then you need to smile more often." The naive leopardess said as she tilted her head to the side slightly and tried to think of a way to make him smile. She sat next to her friend and tried to think for a moment. "What do you want to do when you are older? Do you ever want to settle down? You don't seem like the type that would want kids." Asami said to her friend and tried to picture Takumi with a little cub and snickered a little at the thought.

"Maybe" He just said with a laugh. He wasn't sure weather that'd be true or not. He didn't think she could sound like a male at all. Or at least he couldn't picture one on her. Her beauty needed a girly voice. Though, if she had a male voice, would he have even cared? Probably not. So many things were racing threw his mind, it just added one more to think about. That's all he did most the time, think. Which made him in an even more emoish mood seeing as most of the stuff he thought about wasn't at all good.

"You think so? Maybe it was because as a kid I smiled too much." He teased, though kept the same frownish look upon his face. Only when he was around her could he at least kinda smirk. Other then that it was impossible. She asked him some questions that seemed to make him go quite for a moment. He wanted to be with her, but not when he was older. He wanted to settle with her. "I haven't thought about it" He lied.

Her ears quickly flicked towards him when he started to laugh. The smile on her face grew big when she noticed that the laugh actually came from him. Asami's tail flicked behind her as she looked around at the terrain. She scooted a little closer to him, simply happy to be in his presence. It was always fun to be around him, no matter how rude he sounded sometimes. All her thoughts were positive about almost everyone she met or ran across, even Takumi when he said negative things.

"You were happier as a kid." Asami said, glancing down at the frownish look on his face. She didn't like that look on his face. "I haven't either." The leopardess said then shrugged her shoulders. Unlike Takumi, she wasn't lying. The future wasn't very important to her at the moment. "I am just focused on what is happening in the present." Asami said as she yawned and stretched out her legs a little, then sat down once again.

"Well, kids don't generally have to worry about anything, do they?" He spoke. Though that was a lie here living with his father. Everyone had to worry. Thona liked to pick his victims to beat on, that where his own kids. Though, That never really crossed the young Takumi's mind. Now, it crossed it always. What if he were to have kids with Asami. Would they be victim to Thona too? Or could he protected them, in a way that wasn't noticeable to his father.

That was probably his worse fear of having children. His father."Yeah." Takumi knew she wasn't lying. Which made him feel like crap. He wanted to know if she ever thought of them together. He wanted to tell her he loved her, yet kept biting his lip. What if she only saw him as a friend.

"Why would anything be wrong?" He asked her. Not looking at her as if she might read exactly what was wrong without him so much as having to say something. It scared him sometimes, her eyes looked as if they could read him like an open book. Instead, he found a rock he could stare at like it might have something interesting on it. His ears slightly down like normal. He was truly happy right now, yet he didn't show it.

When ever he did smile, bad things would rush to his head the second it was full. So he avoided doing that. Even though, bad thoughts were always with in his mind. He just didn't realize it until he was having fun. "Nothing's wrong at all" He added as he glanced at her then back at the rock.
