Oh, a butterfly! Chase...oh my gosh was that a beetle!? And that rock beside it was just so pretty! With an excited squeal Chache'Kindu dived towards the rock, extemely excited as she batted it back and forth between her paws, before it bounced a little further across the savannah and she had to give another thrust with her hind legs. The deaf juvenile seemed entranced by the smooth surface of the pebble, but that attention was soon snatched again as a dragonfly darted across the ground, Chache soon chasing after it. A short attention span? Chache? ...Never!
She was a deeper brown than the golden savannah, and her red, strawberry-like hind made her a pretty easy spot, meaning the small group of rabbits she had stopped to stalk spotted her coming, and dashed off. But that didn't stop her from chasing them, Chache giving a delightful glee as she raced after them, enjoying the feeling of the wind whipping through her fur. She wsa having fun - she didn't realize how scared the hares were. She couldn't hear their fearful cries.
If red was easy to spot in the savannah, then pink and white was certainly easier. Lyssa had no escape route through her coat in which to hide, so she was forever forced to be out in the open. The little leopon didn't mind, though. She liked to be out the open. Noticed. Present. Spotlight.
Her paws easily led her this way and that, winding through the grasses and making little patterns. She heard a rock slamming on the ground, over and over, and then skidding, and her ears perked up towards the sound as well. Perhaps a new friend? An enemy? Either way, she was eager to investigate. And when she neared the scene, she spotted a lion cub playing with a rock. A rock? Well, whatever she liked.
"Hello!" Lyssa called out tentatively in greeting.
Chache had indeed found another rock to play with, playfully batting it about again, the hares forgotten. She'd neared a slightly wetter part of the savannah, where grass grew, allowing her to play hide and seek in the grass with the rock. The rock was very good at the game, and she always lost it, having to find a new one and play with that. ...Or maybe it was the same one, in disguise!? Whatever it was, it caused her to giggle to herself, mint-green eyes wide and sparkling in delight.
She didn't hear Lyssa's greeting - how could she? Chache had been deaf sincce birth, and one might've expected her to be more observant because of this. But no - she was just as oblivious as ever, only spotting Lyssa when she practically crashed into the Leopon cub in her attempts to find the rock. Chache skidded backwards in surprise, a mewl escaping her maw as she watched the strange create with wide eyes. What...was it? It wasn't a lion...but it wasn't a leopard or a cheetah either. But it was definitely a cat...
Eventually coming to the conclusion that she didn't care, Chache dived forwards with an excited, playful growl, attempting to tackle Lyssa - who'd now been deemed as a new friend - to the ground, and initiate a game of tag.
"Helloooo--ahhh!" Lyssa was repeating her greeting, a little confused as to why the other cub didn't hear her the first time, and then suddenly she was almost run into. The shock and surprise knocked her backwards as well, landing on her rump and blinking in stunned silence, mouth partially open.
This was a lion cub, definitely. She looked too much like Lyssa's father to -not- be a lion. So Lyssa didn't have the same issue as properly identifying the other female.
"Hi!" she greeted anyways, smiling at the girl. "I'm Lyssa, what's your name?" Uh, wait. What was she doing? All of a sudden the lion was pouncing closer and closer, playfully, but strangely. Lyssa had no idea what to do. And she wouldn't answer her question or greet her back. This was weird. Definitely not a good first impression of lions for the leopon, considering this was her first outing away from home and family.
Chache gave a delighted squeal as she tackled Lyssa, watching the other's face with bright eyes. However, at the confusion on Lyssa's face she shuffled backwards off of the Leopon, cocking her head to the left and watching her with an equally confused expression. Why was she looking like that? ...Wait a sec - her mouth was moving. Realisation dawned in the juvenile, and it showed on her face, as her eyes brows furrowed and her own mouth opened, although the words didn't sound at all natural, and were pronounched mostly incorrectly.
"Uh..deft? Nu, deaf? I...no her. Hear." she attempted, her voice rough. Chache had no idea if she was saying it right, due to being unable to hear her own voice, though by the concentrating on her face she was clearly trying, "Me Chache'Kindu. Chache."
Her name was the only thing she managed to pronounce correctly, but the general meaning should've gotten across.
Lyssa had absolutely no idea what to do. This was definitely -not- what she expected.
But it sounded like..she was saying something? What was she saying? "You're...deaf? You can't hear me?" Then how in the world was she understanding what Lyssa was saying? The juve didn't realize that those with a handicap usually overcame it very simply. Chache was probably reading lips, but Lyssa didn't know that.
"Oh, me. Me Lyssa. Lyssa," she repeated, introducing herself again, just to make sure the other cub understood. It was tough to understand this..Chache. But she would try harder, soon as the lion talked again.
Chache watched Lyssa with the same confused expression, staring quite intently at her lips. They were moving... The young lionness attempted moving her mips in the same way Lyssa just had, repeating the movement a few ties before finally using her voice alongside the movements, coming up with a basic repetition of Lyssa's name, only with emphasis on the wrong letters. "L...Lyssa."
How that transfered into her head was as a picture - she remember creatures by what they looked and smelt like, rather than their name. She used the senses she did have as a substitute for her voice and ears, and it worked pretty well. Flashing a bright smile her tail began to wag behind her as she lowered her front paws, raising her hind and waggling it playfully. She growled softly - even without words, it was pretty clear she wanted to play.
Lyssa giggled, delighted. "Yes!" Granted, it was a bit wrong, but it was still her name. This was more interesting than it had been, before. She wondered what else Chache could say, and was thinking about saying something else just to see what would happen, but the lioness started wagging her tail. Did cats usually do that? She tilted her head to the side and looked at her own tail, wagging it slowly. It didn't feel too bad. She wagged it faster, until it almost matched the speed of Chache's.
"Wanna play a game?" she offered, matching the female in position. She slid her front paws down in front of her, raising her behind up in the air as well until they matched perfectly. "Hide and seek? Tag?"
Chache watched Lyssa with a grin, her expression faltering a little as Lyssa's lips moved again. She wasn't used to having to lip read. Her family knew that she was deaf, and because of that knew to use signs communicated through movement or touch to tell her something, or convey a message. For example, a tug on her tail usually meant bedtime.
She paused in her actions, forming the words with her own lips again, struggling to read the lips. it was silent for a good few moments as Chache tried to figure out what Lyssa had said, although as soon as she had she made the decision with a quick dart forwards and an excited yelp, as she tapped Lyssa on the nose before racing off again. A clear indication that tag was the winner.
At first, Lyssa wasn't sure if Chache had understood her, and was about to repeat herself when she was bopped rather quickly, then the lion bounced away.
Tag it was! With a happy squeal, she launched herself after the lion and the game begun. Her new friend already had a head start, but Lyssa pushed her legs to catch up as fast as she could. She wondered how much exercise she would be able to get today. And if she could play with her new friend again tomorrow?!
The leopon chased after Chache and managed to snag the tail of the lioness. "Ha, you're it!" she called, and danced away to the opposite direction.
Chache felt the tug on her tail, and admittedly her first instinct was to groan - tugging of tails meant bedtime. However, she soon remembered that it was the middle of the day, and that she was playing tag with her new friend, and this caused her to quickly pivot on her hind legs, and race back after Lyssa.
She squeaked and mewed as she chased her new friend, gradually getting closer and closer until...why just tag Lyssa? That was no fun! So instead she leapt at her, hoping to tackle her and sending the pair rolling down the shallow incline in front of them. This was always fun when she did it near the den!
Lyssa could feel Chache coming closer and closer, and was debating whether or not to put on a burst of speed. That would be mean, though, to suddenly leave her behind. Although that was the point of the game...
And then suddenly she and Chache were intertwined, rolling down a hill. She let out a screech, mostly of happiness at this new development (not to mention that now she was officially tagged and it was her turn to chase), but also rolling down the hill was a fun new game for her to try later.

Chache squealed and screeched in pure joy, absolutely loving the feeling of rolling down the hill. The grass on your back, the wind sailing through your fur, whiping around you... Her eyes streamed from trying to keep them open, but eventually she was forced to shut them and just enjoy the ride. And what a thrilling, enjoyable ride it was.
When the pair finally came to a stop, though, she was too tired to move. Giggling gleefully to herself, Chache let out a hearty side, laying herself sprawled out on her back, paws in all four directions as her chest heaved up and down to get enough air. That. Had. Been. AWESOME.
Lyssa had to close her eyes for fear of getting grass stuck in them (she really was more worrisome than she let on, actually), but she did enjoy the terrifying feeling of having her stomach jump up inside of her as she spun in a quick circle down the hill. She hung onto her new friend for dear life, though, no matter how fun it was.
Chache had landed on top of the leopon, and she rested for a moment as well, breathing heavily in and out, before she giggled and tried sitting up. Then she stood, walked a few paces, and tripped over herself and fell down onto her side. She laughed again, trying to walk again. She tripped and fell on her rump this time, facing Chache with a goofy grin on her face.
Chache craned her neck upwards, feeling too lazy to bother getting up. She watched Lyssa inquisitively, before bursting into giggles as the female tripped over. The movement of the leopon's mouth alerted Chache to the fact that she was laughing, so not injured, but the second time she fell it was too much, Chache having to hold her sore tummy as she rolled from side to side, giggling manically. That was so funny! She'd all stood up and walk walk BAM!
Eventually wriggling to her own feet, Chache attempted to bound over the Lyssa, but was a little disorientated also, and instead of running towards Lyssa, ran to the left a little. She never got far enough to realize, though, falling onto her own side with a delighted giggle.
Lyssa giggled too, bursting out into laugher when Chache attempted to come closer to her, but ended up falling flat on her side as well. The leopon stayed where she was for a moment, trying to get her bearings, then tried to stand up and make her way over to her friend again. This time, she would go slow, and see if she couldn't get over there. Her first few steps were fine, but then she wobbled. Making a break for it, she sprinted and ended up running sideways, finally collapsing on top of Chache with a laugh of surprise.
Chache laid where she was, knowing Lyssa'd come over eventually. She didn't want to fall on her face and look stupid again! She gave a yelp of surprise when she suddenly found the leopon on top of her, though, wriggling about and trying to push her off. Her face was in a wide grin the whole time, however, Chache enjoying the whole experience. She really liked Lyssa - she definitely had to see her again!
Lyssa giggled and tumbled off and over Chache, mouthing a "sorry!" at her new friend. She hadn't meant to squish her! She would have to get her balance back soon, though. This was ridiculous. But rolling down the hill had been so much fun...
"You wanna go again?" she asked, gesturing up the hill with her paw. She meant to ask if Chache wanted to roll down it again, maybe together and maybe just at the same time. They could even have a race!
Chache clearly didn't mind the squishing, as indicated by her gleeful laughter. It was a sound that came naturally to her - unlike any words she ever managed to get out. Flashing a wide grin she bounced back to her feet again, nodding rather eagerly as she bounced around Lyssa, seeming to get her balance back fairly quickly.
When Lyssa spoke, though, it caused Chache to pause, eyebrows furrowing again as her mouth moved in the same way, trying to figure out what was being said. It took her a little longer this time, the words not familiar to her, but after a rather awkward silence she managed, her face lighting up as she gave a sharp nod. Most certainyl!
With glee, Lyssa led the way and bounded back up the hill. This time, they would race. "We can race," she told Chache, making sure she was facing her friend so that her lips could be read. It didn't bother her that it took a bit longer than usual. It was still interesting. "Race," she repeated again, and another time. "We can race. See who gets to the bottom of the hill," and here she pointed from the top of the hill, where they now stood, down to the bottom, "and who wins." She did a happy face and a little dance for 'win.'
She trotted over to one place at the top of the hill and then pointed at a spot nearby for Chache. "You, here. Roll." She waggled her paw in an up-and-down motion, over and over, while leading it from the top of the hill to the bottom.
Chache watched Lyssa, her face lighting up even further as Lyssa seemed to make a special effort to make sure she understood - just like her family. Oh, she was so amazing! Gratitude and adoration towards Lyssa flowed into Chache'Kindu as she nodded, taking a lot less time to get what Lyssa was saying due to the extremely helpful visual aids. Grinning she raced to the top of the hill beside her new friend, trotting to the spot pointed out for her.
Chache looked to Lyssa again, nodding, before opening her mouth again, clearly wanting to repay her friend for the helpful visual aids. "I...uh...Twee, Twho, Un....Gho!"
...A little confusing, but Lyssa should get the idea.
She got it! Lyssa didn't mind working a little extra for the fun they were having together. Although she would have to leave soon, she figured that this last roll down the hill would be alright. She nodded at the countdown, grinning, and got ready to tuck herself into a ball and roll down the hill as fast as she could.
"Three!" she started, head turned towards Chache so she could see what she was doing.
"Two!" Lyssa tilted her head a bit straight again, just so she would be ready to tuck and roll.
"One!"

Chache watched Lyssa with a bright, happy grin on her face, mirroring her new friend's actions as she tucked herself intightly, leaping forwards so she could roll down the hill. Excited squealed tore from the cub's maw as she rolled over and over - it never seemed to stop! But of course, all good things had to come to an end, and this time she was stopped by a loss of momentum, eventually flopping on to her side at the bottom of the hill.
Dizzy, Chache attempted to get to her feet, but failed and flopped onto her side instead. she'd stopped rolling, but the world was still spinning, and she giggled as she tried to make sense of what she was seeing and stand up.

Lyssa rolled to a giggling stop only a few feet away from her new friend and she laughed as the other tried to stand up. The hybrid did the same, flopping over on one side and ending up crossing her legs at the knees in hopes of keeping her balance.
She laughed.
"I gotta go home, Chache," she said unhappily, but still smiled at her friend. "My mom's gonna be looking for me."

Chache looked to Lyssa, frowning as she watched her lips move. She looked a little unhappy through her smile, so Chache made an extra effort to lip read. She didn't get most of it, but the word 'home' was enough to signal to her what it was about. Her ears flopped downwards as she finally managed to stand, the female whining softly.
She shook her head, showing she she didn't want Lyssa to leave.

Lyssa smiled sadly and licked Chache's head.
"Don't worry!" she said with a great big smile. "I'll come back to you soon," and made the motion of her paw leading from her to Chache with a nod, hoping that she conveyed her meaning a bit clearer. "You should go home too before your family worries." Lyssa pushed the female back a bit, trying to signal that, too.

Chache managed to smile back to her new friend, purring loudly as she nuzzled Lyssa's neck, showing that she was glad to have a friend. She remained there for several moments, clearly not wanting to stop, before she finally took a step backwards, nodding to show she understood.
"Byaaaaa, Leesaaaa," she managed to speak, smiling brightly before she turned, trotting off back to her den. Wait until she told her parents of her amazing new friend!

The hybrid beamed after her new friend, happy that she had learned how to communicate so well with the other female after only a day of playing together. Wait until next time! They would loads and loads of fun together.
"Bye Chache!" she called after the little red cub, and turned around to head back home as well. It had been a lovely day, and for that she was grateful. Chache was a wonderful cub and Lyssa was looking forward to spending more time with her new friend.
