This question I'm about to ask has been bothering me since I saw Corpse Bride. Since you guys are older, wiser, and taller than me, you can probably make better guesses than mine have been. Here is the question: Why do you think Victor chose to drink the poison in the first place when he truly loved Victoria? sad

Zairukil This question I'm about to ask has been bothering me since I saw Corpse Bride. Since you guys are older, wiser, and taller than me, you can probably make better guesses than mine have been. Here is the question: Why do you think Victor chose to drink the poison in the first place when he truly loved Victoria? sad From what I saw in the movie, he got news from his "newly dead" carriage driver man that Victoria was wed to the wealthy new comer. Victor was heart broken, but then a few moments later happened to evesdrop on his heart broken corpse bride, Emily (heart broken to the fact that Victor loved another woman). Victor over hears the elder and the maggot speaking to Emily saying that he and Emily were already parted by death and that the only way to properly renew their vows was to poison him. Emily was sad and didn't want the one she loved to be unhappy and take away what he cherished the most- his life in the land of the living. So, when Victor heard this, he saw that Emily was very sweet hearted and sensitive to him and really did care. He thought "If Victoria is already taken by the wealthy new comer, I already have some one just as sweet as she is that is NOT taken and really does care about me; since Victoria is already married (and has broken my heart in doing so), I think I'll marry Emily to mend my heart because she loves me just as much as I love Victoria.".
Do you get it now? I hope the message was conveyed properly. sweatdrop

He thought Victoria loved Lord Barkis, because she was getting married to him. And he didn't want Emily to be heartbroken.

for this question I don't think there really was a right or wrong answer. It's just how you were looking at the whole scenerio that's all. It just turns out we both had the same views I guess except that i presented it a little more eloquently(in my own words) and was a little too late to answer was all. No offence to her. ^^ I still complteley agree with her.
