(( Embri and Lachtna are both welcome to join when they so choose, if they so choose. This takes place just after the storm that's swept Embri away. ))  Knees lifting high with each step, Chione trotted along the shore, hooves kicking up droplets. Heh heh... take that puddles. Stomp. Stomp stomp. She giggled softly to herself. Oh, but her mother and father never would have approved.
Thank goodness they were near the den.
She turned, frowning. "Come on, Jii. What are you waiting for?"
Flicking her tail, her attention moved to the sky briefly. A storm. Maybe that's why the water was so cold. Her wings shivered as she recalled the dull roar. And the wind... though her family had been there, keeping watch. And it hadn't really upset their shelter at all. With all the felled limbs and leaves, it might have been a lot worse. She cocked her head thoughtfully, scanning the tree line as she waited for her brother.

 Jiyuu was pulled out of his train of thought when he heard his sister calling him. "Ah, coming!" he exclaimed, cantering over to where Chione was. He had been following her before, but became distracted by some birds he saw up in a tree. The small creatures made him think about flying, and lost in thought he hadn't noticed his sister continuing on without him.
As he came close to her, he made a big jump into a nearby puddle, trying to splash her with the water. Hey, what else were little brothers for? ------------------------------------------ Toshiro tried to fight back panic when both of his children ran on ahead of Kindle and him. Relax, we know where they're going. We're not that far behind, he told himself. They won't get lost... The stallion grimaced at the thought. Twice now he had been separated from family in his life. He didn't want it to happen again. The last storm in particular had brought back some rather unpleasant memories, prompting him to keep a tight watch on his mate and the kids until it had passed. "Perhaps we should pick up our pace a bit," he suggested to his mate, as casually as possible. "Don't want them to get too far away from us."

Leaping away, her wings flapping instinctively as she reared up on her hind legs, batting at her brother. "Jii! You gotta respect your elders! Can't just go splashing them all willy nilly!" Coming down again, she trotted to his side, nipping at his flank. Maybe he would understand that. Colts these days....---------------------------------------------  "They'll be fine, Toshi," Kindle smiled softly. "They can't have gotten too far ahead of us." The smile faded a little in recollection. "Is something bothering you?" He'd been acting a little funny ever since the storm rolled through. But there hadn't been any major damage to their shelter, and it had cleaned the beach. She beamed at the freshly turned sand, their children's hoofprints all that marred the pristine white.

Jiyuu 'eeped' and jumped a little when Chione nipped at his flank. "Hey, you're only older than me by, what, a few minutes?" he replied, bumping his side into her playfully. "That doesn't count." He flapped his wings a bit, nibbling playfully at his sister's mane. "Besides, a little water isn't going to hurt you."

"Hm? Ah, it's nothing," Toshiro replied, giving his mate a small smile. "Sorry, I just don't like losing sight of them is all. Guess you could call me a bit paranoid." He relaxed a bit once they reached the sands and could see the kids playing over by the shore. They both were fine. Just worrying about nothing. They're there, they're fine.

"It so counts!," she quipped with a small laugh as she rolled her head in an attempt to dodge his nibbles. "Who else would look after you, if I'm not your big sister?" She swelled her chest with pride, wings spread in an attempt to make herself look that much larger. Then, with a tiny battle cry, she pounced.

Nodding, Kindle cast her gaze toward the children. "Of course they're fine. We would see or hear if there was a problem, right? And they are together..." She smiled up at him encouragingly, then nuzzled the soft skin just beneath his jaw. "Just wait until they grow a little..."

"Arrrrgh!" Chione definitely had the element of surprise on her side. Jiyuu tumbled down to the sand when she pounced, wings flailing wildly, and the struggle promptly ensued. After about 30 seconds, the little colt had somehow wrestled his way on top. "Ha! You should know better than to take on a boy," he teased, this time holding HIS wings up to make himself look bigger. "We're naturally stronger."

Toshiro let out a soft sigh, returning his mate's nuzzle. "I suppose you're right." He watched the two winged foals wrestling about in the sand, quite amused. "I don't suppose we should break it up just yet, eh?"

"Gah!" Legs in the air, Chione snorted at her 'little brother,' her wings fanned out against the sand. "Oh yeah? You might be stronger, but I'm faster!" Squirming from beneath her brother, she kicked up droplets of water, whirling on him. Rump in the air, she grinned viciously. Let him make the first move, see what happens.

"Mhmm." Kindle watched the pair for a moment. "Harmless so far. I think." She watched the pair strut. Perfectly normal, she assumed. At least, for Jiyuu. Chione should be a little more subdued. But there was little helping it.

"Ack!" Jiyuu backed away when she splashed the water at him, using a wing to shield his face. He could have pounced her again, but somehow he felt that might not be the best idea. Instead, he stuck his tongue out at her and bounced off toward the shallow waters. "Catch me if you can!" This time he was the one planning something sneaky.

Toshiro had to chuckle at their antics. "They sure do have quite a bit of energy. Perhaps it's best for us to let them tire themselves out for bit." He nuzzled his mate affectionately. "Besides, it gives us some time to ourselves."

Chione raised up in alarm. He couldn't do that! "It's not fair to not take the bait, Jiyuu!" She shot him a raspberry, then took off after him, her wings tucked to her back as an afterthought.

Chuckling softly, Kindle shook her head. "What, you mean they might actually sleep through the night for once?" She regarded him with a playful gleam in her eyes. "Up before the sun every morning. I blame you for that."

Jiyuu laughed aloud and continued on a small ways into the water. Once his sister got close enough, he reared up and came back down with as much force as possible, sending a giant splash her way.

"I apologize," Toshiro replied, still amused. It was hard to say whether the reason the kids got up early was because they were like their father, or simply because they were kids. Perhaps it was a bit of both. "At least we get to watch the sunrise together, yes?" he added, smirking ever so slightly.

Chione flopped, then wobbled as she tried to hop out of the way. All she really succeeded in was losing her balance. She toppled, Jiyuu's wave washing over her. "No fair! Kiss and make up!" Pushing herself up, she trotted toward him. See how he liked having wet fur rubbed all on him.

Jiyuu grinned impishly, not caring of his sister's plans. He was already wet just from being in the water after all. "Kiss? You're not going to give me cooties, are you?" he joked, romping around a bit and kicking up more salt water in the process.

"Cooties...." She pauses, glancing up thoughtfully. "It would be fitting. You'd get headaches, then itchies, then rashes." Grinning broadly, she took a menacing step forward. "And there's no cure for it. And girls won't like you, all contagious like that." She puckered her lips, leaning toward him.

Jiyuu backed up a bit as his sister approached him, ending up a bit deeper in the water. "H-Hey, knock it off!" he replied, splashing her again in an attempt to halt her advance. He had only been kidding about the cooties, but his sister's words worried him. Could she actually have them? That would be bad.

"Big drooly sister kisses!" Laughing, she leapt toward him, trying to place a well-aimed lick on his cheek. Still, it was hard. And the water was deeper out here. "You can't stop the infection!"
