So here's what we're going to do! I've told you the pony's name... and now you get to make up the rest!

Where did this pony come from? Is it male or female? What sort of Talent does it have? Where does it live, and why is it carrying a ribbon? What does the symbol on it's flank mean? All up to you!

If you have questions about anything, please feel free to post here, but be sure to look around the shop thread and guild first, since you might find the answers there!

I Believe in Unity~
Name: Divena
Pony's Name: Unity
Home: Dream
Talent: Compromise
Symbol Meaning: Equality
Personality: Peace loving and wise... and highly mischievous
Backstory: When Unity was just a little foal, the world was wreaked with chaos. All the different races lived in one valley and were at war with one another. Each thought that it belonged in that valley and thus tried to drive the others out. After a few years, they began to divide themselves up into two main groups, with a few subgroups. Finally, poor Unity reached adulthood, his heart aching for all the lives that were lost. He tried to gently reach a compromise with the warring ponies, to remind them all that there were other places for them to live. Places more suitable for the different ponies. But none of them would listen, because this valley was so perfect. Out of frustration, he asked why? What made this one valley so perfect and the others lacking?

The darker ponies claimed that it was because the valley was so quiet and that the nights were long and pitch black. Such things that they loved in a home.

The nicer ponies claimed that it was because the valley had such bright, sunny days and, when the sun was up, felt warm and inviting.

The small, winged ponies claimed that it was because there were so many pretty colors and plenty of room to fly around in.

The water-bound ponies claimed they liked all the rivers and lakes that tied into one another, which gave them a lot of room to move around in.

All in all, this valley had a little bit of something for everyone, but the races just couldn't live together. Unity could see that it was the ponies' own inability to compromise that was fueling the war and so he grew even more frustrated. Why couldn't they all just get along?

Unity was so frustrated and so annoyed by their lack of consideration, or even willingness to listen to other sides, that he decided to force a compromise on all of them. Using his power, and no small amount of creative thinking, he ended the war by destroying the valley everyone was fighting over. He took the land and the elements and broke it up into four separate places. He sent the dark air and long nights to one valley, creating what would be known as Nightmare Valley. The warm days and lovely weather went to another valley, becoming Dream Valley. The flowers and vast space went to yet another valley, becoming Flutter Valley. Finally the interwoven lakes and streams remained, but only enough so that they could act as paths, not homes, all leading to the ocean and Rainbow Reef, where the sea creatures could make their home.

So shocked were all the ponies by these sudden, much more perfect homes that the war ended almost instantaneously, and Unity was allowed a breath of peace. He settled into Dream Valley, as it was the place the called the most to him.

Of course, when you have more than one strong personality gathered together, peace is a short lived thing. Small skirmishes broke out all over and Unity, who had had more than enough fighting in his lifetime, found himself intervening and ending the conflicts when and where he could.

A child, seeing him end an argument between her parents, made him a pretty white ribbon as a thank you. He wore it with pride, as no one had ever thanked him for his work before, until the knot came loose. Even then, he carried it with him everywhere, and ponies began to recognize the ribbon more than him as a sign of a compromiser. They began to seek him out to end conflicts as well, recognizing him by the ivory ribbon he carried.

A compromiser's work is never done.

I Believe in Unity~
Name: Jezbel
Pony's Name: Unity
Home: Dream Valley
Talent: Absolute Peace
Symbol Meaning: To her it's a symbol of balance and peace. Being all one color shows everyone should work under one set of ideals.
Personality: Unity is a very sweet pony who concerns herself with everyone being peaceful together and uniting under one ideal. She dislikes how some exploit differences in other pony's and actively works to try and get everyone to get along.
Backstory: Unity started out as a negotiator between the Dream and the Nightmare Legends. With so few of them they couldn't afford to be segregated. Talks were rough though.. since the two had many different ideals. Especially when breeding. Many times the children would be split up as the two parents couldn't co-exist together. She made many journeys to the Nightmare lands for the peace talks and saw many different ponys on the way. One thing she noticed was the peace they were trying to achieve with the Nightmare Legends... didn't even exist among the other species. It seemed to her they needed help too. So she went to her superior who then talked to the Nightmare superior and it was agreed that they would work together to achieve... peace throughout all the Valleys and species. Unfortunately most of the other pony's had a problem with the peace movement.... claiming they weren't promoting peace but oppression. That was ridiculous. Unity helped form most of those peace laws herself and their was nothing oppressive about them. It kept everyone of the same level. Still it seemed most were unhappy with the thought of peace and that just wouldn't do. Luckily her superiors agreed and set out to teach those against it what they were trying to achieve. She never did see those particular pony's again but she was sure they understood now and were happy things were going in such a peaceful direction.

It got to the point where almost everyone was following the rules and no one fought or felt left out at all. Unity was glad there was such peace and unity among the Valleys. Everything was perfect. Or at least it had been... until that day. She had been walking about enjoying the day when all of a sudden pony's rose up from all over and attacked the Legends, including Unity herself. She didn't understand.. why were they so unhappy and angry? Everything was perfect now! But the other pony's didn't think so and they out numbered the Legends and finally put that to use. They destroyed everything the Legends had created and separated the two races, cursing them to never be able to breed with the other again, thus keeping their numbers significantly smaller than all the other races. Unity watched in horror as her perfect Utopia was destroyed and her race punished for trying to make everything better. As the debris and dust cleared she caught a white ribbon flowing in the breeze and held it close. For the rest of time she would wander the Valleys, trying to bring back the peace they once had.. her ribbon now a symbol of times long forgotten... as was her name... Unity.

((Er... sorry about the odd turn.... sweatdrop I swear I meant this to be a happy story!))

I Believe in Unity~
Name: LOLTERNATIVE
Pony's Name: Unity
Home: Dream
Talent: Truth & Illusions
Symbol Meaning: It's a symbol of a being who was created in a time when all hope was lost.
Personality: Intelligent and wise; he is a very powerful pony. He does not believe in violence without a just cause and even then he will try and sort problems out in a non-violent manner.
Backstory:
Good vs. Evil. This is how the two neighbouring ponies saw each other, unaware that the only difference they shared was appearance. They both wanted to fight for their homes, both had beliefs and goals. They were just blind.

There was one child who saw the world for what it really was. One out of thousands. He didn't understand why everyone was fighting; he wanted everyone to live peacefully. He was called naive and childish, but he did not let this stop his attempts to cease the fighting.

He left home one day and decided to travel to the Nightmare Kingdom to speak with the Emporer. He made it to the dividing line between the two kindgoms when he was struck down by a soldier. No one noticed his lifeless body laying on the ground. No one noticed when his body started to glow and change..

Emerging from the body of the fallen child; a Legend stood. Pure white white and carrying a white ribbon with a strange marking on its flank. And then, all at once; thousands of golden butterflies flittered through the air and into the bodies of those who were fighting. Weapons fell to the ground and cries of shock and pain surrounded the ears of everyone.

The two Emporers looked upon the Legend in all his splendour and couldn't help but ask.
"What are you?"
"I.. am the small bit of hope when it seems all hope is lost. I'm the conscience of everyone and everything. I'm what holds this world together. I.. am Unity."
"Why are you here?" The Emporer of the Nightmare Kingdom asked.
"I am born from a child. This child gave his life in attempts to stop this fighting. When he was slain, no one noticed. It was then I felt I had to step in." Unity's voice was strong and powerful; but not threatening at all.
"A child.." Both Emporers whispered.
"I have shown you the truth. How you are both equal and your only difference is your appearance. Stop this fighting; enough blood has been spilt."
The Emporers both threw down their swords and looked at each other. THe Dream Emporer held out his hand and the Nightmare Emporer took it and shook it; a smile upon his face.
"For too long we've been fighting, brother." Nightmare said.
"Let's go home." Dream said.

Cheers errupted from the soldiers who were glad that the fighting was over.

Unity turned and began walking away.
"Wait!" Both Emporers called. "Where are you going?"
"I am to see the child's parents and explai everything to them. Then, I will leave and travel until I am needed again."

I Believe in Unity~
Name: Emalthya
Pony's Name: Unity
Home: Nightmare Valley (Seeing as she can’t be in both)
Talent: Omnipresence
Symbol Meaning: It’s a derivative of the symbol of the labyrinth:
http://www.forbiddenplanet.co.uk/bmz_cache/7/7f15b363a0af8c817a32b24f97413e50.image.182x200.jpg
It means change, magic and equality: a stream will batter all rock equally, whatever kind of rock they are.
Personality: Calm and passive but implacable
Backstory:

“Once upon a time there was a place which was as much alive as the beings that lived within it. This structure was an ever changing maze born out of one heart with the symbol of eternity as its crest. Time came every now and again that the entity of the maze went forth in flesh and blood. There were many forms that it chose, but the one that I saw was the legendary white horse. Unity, the figure who represents the oneness of purpose of those who live within the maze and the maze itself.

“I was just a little tyke back then. My Papa, he was a big man, had just brought me and my sisters into the maze to live. He was a trapper and a skinner. Turned out that while skins were high in demand in the maze, it was frowned on to poach from inside it. He didn’t know. Not the brightest, my Papa. He was doing what he knew how to do to feed his family. Didn’t save him.

“I was playing outside with some toys when she came. She was walking slowly down the road, picking up dust in her hooves. It didn’t stick to her white coat. That was enough to make my drop my things and stare. She was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen, but she was familiar. She came up to my father’s hovel and stove in the door with a hoof without effort.

“My poor Papa came out and stood before her, and I remember wondering at how he could be angry at such a pretty thing. She had a white ribbon in her mouth and it fell to the ground between them when she spoke.

““Catcher, you are in violation of our equality,” she said softly. She received no answer, but I don’t thinks he expected one. “I can’t bring back who you have killed. And you have no other trade to survive upon. Your fate is sealed. But know your children will be cared for.”

“And then the ribbon swept up off the ground and wrapped up my father, and then he was gone. I remember crying out in shock. Unity came up to me then and I cowered away from her. But she bent down her nose to touch my face.

““Your father is helping me now. He will remain until he has righted his wrong. And you will help us. In time.” And then she vanished.”

My young page gaped at me. “Wooooow! Is that why you’re king now, my Lord?”

“I think so,” I told him levelly, my gaze rested upon my shield, hanging over the fireplace. It was steel tooled with chased silver in the form of the legendary Unity herself. I always knew she was the power behind me, and that she could take it away in a heartbeat. I suppose it keeps me honest. She hasn’t been sighted in a long time. Part of me wonders where she is, and the other part prays I never see her again.

I Believe in Unity~
Name: Nyx Queen of Darkness
Pony's Name: Unity
Home: (which Valley it will live in according to locations of the shop) Nightmare Valley
Talent: Keeper of Balance
Symbol Meaning:The symbol shows there is a perfect balance to all things. Without the bad, the good cannot enjoy life as we do now. The bad in life makes the good sweeter. Sort of a yin and yang type symbol.
Personality: Mysterious, Calm, Focused, Compassionate
Backstory:

Ziva followed the dark, winding road with hatred in her heart. For years, she had quested to find who had slain her family and she had found nothing. Every lead became a dead end and the years faded away as she searched in vain.
Then weeks ago, she had heard whispers of an entity so great that it exacted vengeance on the enemies of the one who summoned him forth. All that was required was to speak his name and utter your wish to him in darkness.
Her heart thudded loudly in the oppressive darkness. Did she really want to pursue this…this being and have him exact her vengeance? Her heart burned with anger, but something more reasonable tried to hold back the fury within.
Out of the darkness came a hooded figure--a pony with deep silver eyes glowing from the dark recesses of his hood. “What do you seek?”
Ziva stopped, furrowing her brow. “Who wants to know?”
The silver eyes fluctuated oddly and the voice spoke, “I would think it obvious. I do.”
Ziva rolled her eyes. “Very funny.”
“Speak it.”
“Pardon me?” Ziva gave the mysterious figure a confused look.
“I know what you seek…” The silken voice drew her in. “Speak it’s name.”
Ziva’s heart raced as she spoke the words almost unbidden. “Vengeance,” she whispered. “I seek…Lexar.” She uttered the name she had never heard before, had never thought until now.
The hooded pony let out an evil laugh. “You have freed me. I will exact your vengeance.” And with a twirl of his cloak, he was gone and she was alone in the dead of night.
***
Ziva had barely reached the closest town when she noticed the changes. The people were different. They all seemed the same-exactly the same. She watched them, each movement like it was rehearsed, each step in sync…Her eyes fell on someone who didn’t fit. He walked differently and dressed differently, then he was gone.
“What-what happened?”
A smiling face greeted her, “He had no place in our kind. He’s been moved on.”
A silken voice sounded from behind her, “Ziva…”
In terror, she turned to see him. “You-you tricked me!”
A laugh echoed from beneath that hooded cloak. “Yes…but I am free now…”
Ziva ran blindly from him. Finding herself in a dead end alley, she covered her face with her hooves. “What have I done? Please help me, someone…I’m sorry. Please, please help me!”
Warm light bathed over her and a gentle voice soothed her. “There…there. It’s going to be okay now.”
Ziva shrank away from her. “Who are you? Where did you come from? What does that symbol mean?” Ziva pointed at the pure white ponies’ hip.
“I’m Unity. I come from…beyond and only in a time of need. I unite and separate all things. My symbol represents that.”
“You can’t be both.” Ziva frowned at her as she backed against the wall.
“Yes, Lexar is my brother. He separates individuality by uniting all things, but I unite all things by separation.”
“I don’t understand.”
“You freed him and he has broken the will of the ponies by uniting them so completely that they do not have a single original thought. They work as perfect replicas of each other. They experience joy and not sadness, glory but no war, and for these things they suffer. They do not feel as you do, they cannot feel true joy because they cannot feel pain or loss. A perfect world, one without feeling. The symbol I carry shows that there is a perfect balance, there most be pain to experience true joy as there must be tears to feel a heartwarming smile.”
“I never wanted that world.”
“You wanted release from your pain.”
Ziva’s eyes widened. “Please, I don’t want it anymore. I want it back! I feel like I’m losing myself already.”
“You are.” The white ribbon Unity held in her mouth fluttered in the wind and wrapped itself about her eyes. Her voice became deep and light seemed to radiate from behind the blindfold. It was pure and blinding as it seeped out. “Bring the world to how it was, imprison the darkness, let the races be as they were. Let pain and joy unite all humanity.”
As Unity spoke, Ziva saw the world change around her. The ponies became less organized. There were now happy and sad faces as well as a myriad of other expressions. “It’s back.”
“The world is how you knew it.”
“How? Why?”
“I am to watch the balance of things and as long as even one pony can call my name, I will come and I will balance the world in the natural order.” With a bright flash, the pony faded and Ziva found herself once again, all alone.
