'Heve:
Yokheved lay in a bit of shade, taking a break from her duties. Another female had come and taken the youths she had been watching over to teach take them out for a hunting lesson, and for the moment, the light brown lioness was contented to relax for the first time in a pawful of days. Tamar sat with her back stretched out on a branch above her, snoring softly in a way that was reserved for the grayish and black monkey.

'Heve smiled up at her before standing and deciding to take a little walk. Let her totem nap. It wasn't like she'd go very far, anyways.

Jaron:
Jaron was making every effort to hide the growing stiffness in his limbs and joints. Now that he'd grown into his mane, Eyal seemed twice as determined to make his training hell on earth. Three days in a row Jaron had been excused late. Today the buildup had left his joints aching, screaming against every effort Jaron made to hide any fategue.

His own totem had decided on retiring to scrounge for something to eat.

Jaron would think to eat when his gut stopped twisting...

He slowly apprached the far end of the pool, far enough to evade larger drops spraying up from the pride's source of water, but still close enough to feel a pleasant spray against his side. Sighing, he crouched down and began lapping up greedy mouthfuls of water. He'd earned it.

'Heve:
Yokheved padded slowly in no particular direction, not realizing until she head the sound of water that her paws had led her to the waterfall that fed the pool they drank from. It was a nice place, she always thought it very pretty. And from what she remembered of her mother, the older lioness had thought so, too.

As she approached the pool, she paused in her steps as her green eyes fell on another lion there. If it wasn't for his mane, she would have thought it were the king standing there taking a drink as the spray from the falls fell against him. But, no, it's wasn't Rotem. Rather, it was his eldest son, Jaron. She'd never met the prince before, not in person, though she had seen him in passing. In truth, she didn't associate much with others. Her lack of speech was something of a turn-off, even with Tamar translating roughly what she meant to say.

Unsure of whether to continue towards him or return the way she came, she looked back and forth between the two directions nervously, one of her front paws raised ever so slightly off the ground.

Jaron:
It wasn't until he felt his gut weigh down with the water that Jaron finally lifted his head away from the water. That was another thing he'd have to work on... but it was so cold! So refreshing, and with Eyal breathing down his back for the last few hours his body had screamed for refreshment. He knew now that getting to sleep would be no easy task, not with a belly full of water where food should have been. There'd be no hunting...

Stupid, stupid.

He shook out his mane, still adjusting to the fur hanging around his shoulders and face. It was then that he caught sight of the female, looking both lost and confused.

Smirking, the prince straightened himself up and made a small show of smoothing out his mane.

'Heve:
'Heve tensed when she was spotted and that did it. She wasn't one to run away, not since she was a little cub, so after taking a slow breath, she straightened her shoulders and returned to heading towards the water. She gave the slightly older lion a small, sweet smile before she dipped her head to take a small drink, her tail flicking back and forth with a bit of nervousness.

She flicked her short "mane" from her face as she straightened, sitting before she looked back at Jaron, wondering if he had sorted his mane out.

Jaron:
He watched her approach, a faint smirk pulling at the corners of his maw as she paced to the water. A tease then!

He tossed his bangs to one side and casually took a few steps to stand beside the young female. "Lovely day out isn't it? Nice, warm sun and cool water in your belly. Nothing like it."

He flicked his tail, "I don't think we've been introduced.'

'Heve:
'Heve smiled at his comments on the day. Honestly, she couldn't agree more, so she nodded a bit in agreement.

And then he basically asked for her name.

Her mouth opened a bit as the smile fled her features, replaced by a sort of sadness. She sighed a bit, looking down as her shoulders slumped a bit in defeat. Of course, that's what people did when they met one another for the first time. And without Tamar there, there was no way she could get her name across. There were plenty of things she had learned to "say" very well with her gestures and expressions, but her name would be the one to forever elude her.

Jaron:
Jaron watched her, his own smirk fading into confusion. Did he say something? Maybe...

He paused to roll the conversation over in his mind once more. Perhaps she wanted him to introduce himself first? He'd have to ask Adara later if that was 'proper'.

"Ah...well I'm Jaron. Rotem's son. Heh... I got the -good- genes, don't worry."

'Heve:
'Heve glanced back up at him as he introduced himself, shaking a bit with a silent laugh at his humor. She bowed her head respectfully for a few breaths before straightening. She glanced back out over the water, trying to figure out how to convey why she couldn't return his charming greeting.

She looked back at him, her mouth opening once more and she shook her head. She paused to place one paw to her throat, shaking her head once more, eyes staying locked on his as she attempted to explain that she was unable to speak.

Jaron:
He frowned a bit and tipped his head to one side. For a moment he didn't really seem to catch on. "...ohh...OOH!" He tossed his head up, "Ooh a mute! Whoops, heh... sorry about that. Didn't know."

'Heve:
'Heve sighed again, slowly nodding her head. But when he apologized for it, she raised a paw, shaking her head again, this time her eyes closed, waving off the apology. She liked to think that she got along as well as mostly everyone else, and it wasn't his fault. He hadn't known.

Her eyes opened once more as she let her paw fall and she smiled softly as she shrugged her shoulders daintily.

Jaron:
He offered a lopsided smile in return, his apology dismissed. Well this was certainly a situation he'd never been prepared for. How was he supposed to communicate with someone that couldn't speak?

"Well... Have you been to the sea yet? It's not much on the eyes but it feels nice to bathe in it. Can't say it's exactly refreshing in the shallows, and the depths aren't all that fun unless you actually like swimming..." He cleared his throat. Hell, he didn't even know what to call her.

'Heve:
'Heve shook her head a bit at his first question. She'd been to the sea before, but not in a very long time. Tamar didn't like the water so much and although she could swim rather well, she wasn't about to risk her life by going alone. Should something happen, she couldn't call out for aid. She looked down at the water in front of them, smiling as she ran her paw over the surface of the water, sending the water rippling a bit. She had the feeling he was a little... uncomfortable with their conversation, or lack thereof, and she sought a way to ease it a little.

She flicked her tail a bit as she glanced at him a bit... And she flicked her paw in the water, sending a bit of it flying his way.

Jaron:
"Augh!" Jaron jumped back at the cold sprinkle to his face. Well that was certainly unexpected!

He lifted a paw to rub his muzzle dry, smirking over his wrist once he felt he'd remidied his discomfort enough. "Oh that's how it's gonna be? I think you've met your match. No one can out-splash me."

'Heve:
'Heve gave him a skeptical look before she quickly stood and splashed at him some more, a playful smile on her face. She'd gotten rather good at dodging splashes, as her totem was the type to do so whenever she was trying to get a drink. So if he wanted to splash her, he'd have to really try.
She was glad he had taken her gesture with humor. Part of her was rather worried he would be unhappy with her. She wasn't fond of others being unhappy.

Jaron:
"That's it!" He jumped back, swiping at the air in a futile attempt to reflect some of the water. Giving up on his own defense, Jaron leapt forward, throwing both paws into the water to send a spray of the stream out for the young female.

'Heve:
'Heve's face broke into a smile akin to one that was laughing as she hopped out of the way of the stream. She wasn't quick enough, and was showered a bit by the spray. Scrunching up her face, she jumped into the water so that she stood more or less in front of him and swiped her paw in the water and upwards towards him.

Jaron:
He took the slap of water to the side of his face with his own light laughter followed by spike after spike of his right paw tossing water out from the stream in her direction.

'Heve:
The mute lioness hopped back, attempting to avoid the water again. But in doing so, she slipped on one of the stones at the bottom of the pool, losing her balance and falling as her legs slid out from under her. The water was shallow enough that she wasn't submerged, but she was mostly wet after that. Her chin her a bit where she had conked it against a stone, but other than that she was fine.
'Heve shook the water from her face the best she could, blinked it out of her eyes before she looked innocently towards the lion she'd been playing with, an embarrassed blush coloring her cheeks beneath her fur.

Jaron:
Jaron didn't go untouched by the lioness' unfortunate loss of balance. Much of his left side-to include his increasingly heavy mane- now lay drenched and dripping cold.

He chuckled and shook himself out, no doubt spraying the lioness in the process. "Well that's one way to win a splash fight."

'Heve:
'Heve blinked at him for a moment, processing what he had said. And then she smiled again, shaking in laughter as she carefully stood and shook herself, to rid her fur off the water. Her feathers were drooped and dripping still, but she was happy and amused all the same. She walked towards him, pawing at him slightly before she stepped from the water, shaking her paws as she did so.

Jaron:
"Gah." Again he was showered with a spray of water as the lioness shook herself off. In turn, he shook himself out as he stepped from the water then promptly sat down to lick at his paws.

"Well you might not talk but you're more fun than half the stiffs walking around. Everyone thinks that when they grow into their manes it's all serious buinsess from here on out. No time for fun."

'Heve:
'Heve smiled and dipped her head in thanks for the compliment. He was right in that sense, that's why she liked spending time with the cubs more than most of the adults. She liked to play, and it was no wonder why, having been raised in part by her totem, a rambunctious monkey, and in part by a rather fun-loving huntress. It kinda just... stuck with her.

Jaron:
"Well I suppose I'll just call you Splash for now. At least until we figure out a way for me to learn your real name." He jerked his head to the side. "Come on. Let's get you something to eat."

'Heve:
Sure, it wasn't her name, but all things considered, it was better than nothing. She smiled sweetly, nodding her head and allowing him to lead the way. It was very nice of him to offer her food, and she wasn't one to turn down a gift from a nice male.

Jaron:
"Dad's got a kill I think. He never finishes it.... old guy says you gotta pace yourself. Guess he's right, heh."

He started walking, slow enough for her to keep up but quickly enough to keep them moving forward.

'Heve:
She nodded a bit at his comment, giving him a questioning look. She hoped it was okay for him to share his father's kill with her. If only she could question him about it. Of course, there was a lot of things she would have liked to say if she could, but it was the simple fact that she couldn't. Nothing had yet to change that, and she wasn't one to dwell.
So instead, she simply padded next to him, watching him as they walked.

Jaron:
He glanced over and lifted an eyebrow. The look could have meant any number of things- but he would go out on a limb with this one.

"It's fine. We're a pride aren't we? We're family."
