Faolan lay sprawled face-down on his floor, shirtless from the heat and covers comfortably pooled around his waist, one foot peeking out from under the blankets. He was still in that hazy drift between sleep and waking, and trying to remember why he might be on the floor instead of curled up on his broken-down old bed. Had he been drinking? One too many with the clowns again, those insufferable drunkards?
He didn't feel hung-over or drunk, though. Moving a hand, he ruffled the back of his hair, but didn't do much more than that in the waking-up process, content to lay there, even on the floor, so early in the morning. It wasn't as if, to his recollection, he had anything pressing to do.
"Faolan?" Ziazan asked quietly, tapping a wing on the young man's head. "Are you awake now?"
"No," Fao answered, eyes still closed and trying to pointedly ignore the Essentic.
The proto tapped more insistently, getting Fao to crack open one bleary golden eye. "Fao, there is a woman in your bed. Did you know? She's right there." It pointed up at the bed.
Fao opened both eyes and sat up this time, turning to peer over the side of the bed at the girl in it. Now he remembered. He'd offered his bed to the young woman last night with the promise to see her home in the morning. Reaching over, he lay a hand on hers, and spoke softly to her. "Hey, darlin'. Time to wake."

Ellandra gave a little sigh as some sound or other attempted to pull her from sleep and force her into the waking world against her will. She mumbled something faintly and snuggled down, breathing in the familiar scent of her linen spr - wait, this wasn't right. Her linen spray was a grapefruit scent, and this wasn't. . . the half-formed thought woke her, and her eyes fluttered open, sleepy mind trying to remember the events that had happened before she went to sleep the previous evening.
She didn't quite recall them until she went to move her hand and found that it was being held in place - and looked over to see that what was holding it was, in fact, another hand.
The hand of the fortune-teller from the night before; oh, yes, she remembered now. She had been too afraid to go home in the dark, and he'd let her stay here. That had been very kind of him, she though drowsily, her mind not quite awake yet.
Sleepily, she glanced over at the horned man, her eyes taking in his featu - wait a minute!
He - there - he had no shirt on!
Instantly, she bolted upright with a squeak and a blush, burying her face in her hands as she tried to avoid looking at the - the half-naked man sharing the tent with her!
"I - I - oh - oh dear, oh. . ." she stammered incoherently, unable to think properly enough to speak.

Faolan quirked an eyebrow at her reaction, not realizing it was from his lack of clothing. As far as he was concerned, he was decent enough. He yawned and sat up more, trying with one hand to untangle the blanket around his legs. "Ellandra, it's time to get up. You do remember staying here last night, eh?"

Ellandra squeaked and nodded furiously, still hiding her face. "Y-y-yes, I - I - I re - remember!"
Oh dear, oh dear - what was she supposed to do? She was completely without any sort of guide to this situation. Mentally, she floundered around, trying to figure out just what she was supposed to do, how she was supposed to react, anything at all regarding her current predicament.
Oh dear, oh dear. . . she wanted to tug her hat down over her face, but she wasn't wearing it, having taken it off the night before prior to going to sleep. "U-u-um...." she stammered, not sure it would be polite to ask her roommate-for-an-evening to put a shirt on, but not sure she could handle watching him go around shirtless, no matter how short the time might be.

The young man cast her an odd glance at her squeaks and stammering, then shrugged, finally getting untangled. Putting a hand on the bed to brace himself, he got up with a soft grunt and stretched. Looking around, he frowned a bit. "Zia, do I still have some coffee in here?"
"Probably not," the proto replied, settling on its pillow on the bed. It began nudging Ellandra with a wing to get her attention for Faolan.
The boy sat on the bed, putting on a boot, then leaned over, looking under the bed for the boot's missing mate. Though he wasn't looking at her, but rather giving her a nice view (if she were so inclined to look) of his back and the black runic tattoo down his spine, he addressed her between grumblings of looking for his boot. "Lass, are you hungry? I can go fetch us some--where the hell is that boot?--breakfast if you want to eat before I take you home. Ah, there it is." He sat back up, putting on his other boot and looked back at Ellandra. "I can try finding you some better clothes, too. I doubt you want to go home in my togs, eh?"

Ellandra's only verbal response, at first, was to squeak a bit - she didn't trust herself to try forming words, especially when a tentative glance over at the fortune-teller only provided her with another blush-inducing view, this time of his back. She swallowed and tried to pull herself together a little; she hadn't even been awake for five mminutes and was already blushing and incoherent! She reached to where Ziazan was itting, gently moving its wing away from her. She was paying attention, she was just - just. . .
Um . . . .
A bit. . . a bit . . . .
Um. . . .
Overwhelmed, yes that was the best word. Overwhelmed by the situation - not - not by the sight before her - j-just the situation!
"U-um..... b-breakfast does - d-does sound n-n-nice," she managed to blurt out semi-coherently after several moments. She couldn't manage any more than that, though, especially when he suggested she go home wearing his clothes!

"Good. I'll go see what's on the menu and bring something back. You like coffee well enough? I'm not sure we have tea," Fao said, looking down at her, now that he was standing, hands casually resting on his hips. "Zia will keep you company till I get back." At that, he ducked out of the tent, not at all bothered by his lack of shirt, and wandered off to get breakfast, ignoring the cat-calls of some of the more brazen ladies that resided in the carnival.
The proto started up at Ellandra with wide eyes, poking again with a wing. "He's gone now. You can relax. He doesn't mean to offend you, he's not used to meek visitors in his home."

Ellandra relaxed a little when the tiny proto informed her that its owner was gone - and smothered a giggle when it proved that it had no tact whatsoever. She wasn't surprised that there had apparently been non-meek visitors to the fortune-tellers, though it was a bit of a disconcerting fact.
Still, the way the little Essentic put it was slightly amusing - the little one needed some lessons on how not to run its mouth, and badly, before it got itself or its owner in trouble that they couldn't get out of.
"O-oh, it's all right, little one. . . b-but you d-didn't need to add the - the last part of - of your explanation. It's - it's not necessary to blurt out e-everything that - that you think o. Especially n-not in the businss you're in,hmm? S-sometimes there are things p-people would rather not kn-know."

Ziazan thought about this, wingtip to its chin, then looked up at her. "But it's true. He's had friends stay with him and the people here aren't shy." The proto tilted its head, then grinned. "Do you fancy him? You might have asked that he show you home last night and he would have, he's too good a man not to, but you stayed here, spending more time with him." Zia blinked a little, curious about the woman's motives to its owner.

Ellandra squeaked. "U-u-um........ I'm........ I'm not r-really sure, Ziazan. I - I'm not sure I would - would know if I did," she admitted truthfully, knowing the tiny Proto wouldn't be upset with her."I - I suppose it's - it's possible. . . but how would I kn-know? I'm a-afraid I've had too little experience to - to tell if I do or not." She tilted her head a little in a thoughtful manner, oddly conscious of the state her hair was in as it fell around her shoulders in a lightly-tangles mess. It had a tendency to get wavy when she hadn't brushed it very carefully, and it seemed that trait was working against her this morning, leaving her with what she feared looked like a bird's nest on her head.

Ziazan nodded at the answer, satisfied enough with it. "He seems to fancy you a bit, too, or at least wants to know you better. Rarely does he meet people outside of the carnival. You shouldn't be so scared of him." The proto flitted over to sit on the table, watching her. "You should be prepared when he returns. He left without his shirt and will return as such. Try concentrating on his face rather than his lack of clothing."

Ellandra blushed when the Essentic mentioned its owner fancying her - why would anyone ever fancy such a plain, ordinary woman as herself? She was nothing special! "I - y-you're right, Ziazan. . . but I'm afraid it's - it's not an easy t-task - either of those suggestions. I'm - I'm very used to being afraid, you see, and.... w-well........ re-regarding the - erm, focusing thing...."
She trailed off, uncertain of how to phrase her statement properly. The flush on her cheeks increased, and she ran her fingers through her hair, trying to ease a few of the tangles out of it. To distract herself a bit from the fortune-teller's upcomign return, she watched the little Proto as it watched her, and asked, "So, little one - is - is there a type of - of s-scarf that I can get you that would be - be unique among those you a-already have?"

"I would not mind what it looked like because it would be unique in that it would be mine. I only have one of my own." It touched the brightly colored scarf wrapped carefully around itself with the coins sewn on that jingled at its movement. It smiled at the girl brightly. "Why be scared of someone so simple and silly as Faolan? He's of demon blood, true, but he's a good man. You could just remind him to put his shirt on. He's not used to people who are shy around him."
The proto moved about on the table, scarf jingling and sat down on the deck of tarot cards Fao had put there the night before, liking the history it felt from the cards. It rested a wing on its lap and its chin in its other hand, wondering when Fao would return with food.

Ellandra smiled softly, most of her nervousness gone now that she'd been alone with just the Proto for the last few minutes. "Well, then," she said, continuing to finger-comb her hair, "I'll make sure it's a special scarf. And I'm afraid of nearly everyone," she admitted sheepishly. "I used to know why I'm afraid, but I'm not sure I do a-any longer."
She tilted her head again and glanced at the deck of cards the tiny Essentic had chosen as its resting place, and a thought flickered through her head - one that surprised her by its mere presence, though she couldn't see a reason not to act upon it.
So she did.
"Ziazan, would you take the lovers' card from yesterday and tell me if Faolon drew it by chance, or on purpose? I'd like to know if - if he'd m-meant to - to use it to, um.... flirt with me or - or if he just..... acted on impulse."
