On the west side of the Jungle of sleep, not too far off from the grand desert, Kyuran layed about, half awake. Daybreak was to approach in a few hours, but he hadn't been able to get any real rest. The jungles were so... noisy. That and the humidity didn't help all too much. Still, he was going to need to travel through or over the mysterious forest if he were to ever reach the desert from Crater Lake. At least he should be able to fly the rest of the way once he felt rejuvenated enough for travel. But that may take longer than anticipated, seeing how the sounds of the jungle seemed all the more noisier when he was trying to relax. Frogs croaking here, insects buzzing there. At least the birds were all asleep by some chance. With a sigh, he muttered to himself, curious now if hunting down some of these little critters would help at all. Any squeals they'd make upon death were definitely more welcome than what was going on now. But. He was tired.

Every day was a new discovery.
Sure, he had been around the jungle a couple of times, but each time, he found something new. Bad experiences? Yeah, he'd been there. But that doesn't take away from the fact that it was something new.
Othello slowly moved through the jungle floor, eyes darting from side to side. "Fascinating." He mumbled as he noted a type of bird he'd never seen before. What beautiful coloration!
Yes, Othello seemed like a pretty cheerful dragon, though he wouldn't deny his lack of companionship sometimes bothered him. But no one seemed to understand his desire to find new things... And all the questions he asked. Why was the sky blue? Why do people affiliate good and bad with day and night? What made everyone move?
As he continued walking and thinking... He sort of went out of focus and well...
Walked into a tree.

With his tail curled around himself lightly, Kyuran was just about to drift off into a slumber. That is, before he heard a thud from nearby, causing him to be wide awake once more.
"What the hell..." he muttered to himself before pushing his body onto its feet. An idiotic bird must have died and dropped dead somewhere nearby. Or something to that extent.
Well a quick snack couldn't hurt. It may give him a bit more energy in any case at least. The dark painter slowly made his way towards the source, and soon found something much larger than some bird. So much for the snack.
"I came to find a bird... and instead I seem to have found a birdbrained painter." he uttered below his breath.

Othello backed up slightly and shook his head. This happened to him every once in awhile. He went so deep into thought that he forgot what he was doing. Smart?
... Not particularly.
His ears caught a voice. As he looked up, he realized all at once that he wasn't alone and his blunder was most likely noticed. "Hello." He called up.

Kyuran frowned at the other painter, who didn't quite seem all there. Though, he couldn't quite put a claw on what it was exactly. But, he knew that while it was fairly dark right now, it wasn't quite so much that the trees blended in with everything else.
"Greetings. Though I have to wonder if that was to me or to the tree over there."

"I'm not a moron, sir. Just distracted." Othello mumbled as he rubbed his horns to make sure they hadn't by some twist of fate broken off. Oh, wouldn't that be something.
"I'm sure you've never been so filled with questions that you forgot what you were doing." As he spoke, he scooted up against the tree that 'attacked' him and took a seat. He probably shouldn't sputter off to a complete stranger, but that too would be a new experience.

"I just try not to let my curiosity blind me."
Shaking his head, Kyuran glanced at the tree for a moment, trying to see if there were any chippings or whatnot in the bark. It was mainly to see if he could tell how hard this pan'lun had walked into it. But, between the dim lighting and the distance he was away from it, he couldn't tell much.
But judging from the way the other male had acted, it wasn't too hard of an impact.

"I'm not blinded. If anything, my eyes are wide open!" Othello declared and motioned to the jungle around him. "Why, have you ever counted the spots on a butterfly's wing and wondered why there were the same number on both sides? Or, have you ever looked at a tree and wondered how it got so big? Or how about... What determines whether an area is hot or cold?"
He smiled as he asked the questions aloud, hoping for some answers, but certainly not expecting them at this point. His eyes had a glint to them with every question mark. He wanted to know so much, but it was really minimal things.

The panlun male seemed to be in awe of his surroundings as he asked a number of questions outloud. And while he did that, Kyuran simply stared at the other with a rather blank gaze. Then, shaking his head, he glanced around at the trees around him as well.
"Perhaps I did when I was a child. But there are other curiosities that come to mind now. Things... less trivial in my opinion," he started "Things that I might be able to find out for myself with... experiments and the like."

Othello stopped smiling and looked at the other painter with a rather blank gaze. T-trivial?
"What, in your opinion, is less trivial? If you don't mind me asking... And... What kind of 'experiments'?" He'd done his own experiments before. Though, that was probably what this painter would consider trivial as well. Such as, sitting on a rock in the desert and counting how many other living creatures you see go by in a day... And... Watching the sun go through it's cycles...

There was a moment or two of silence, as he thought of his answers, but Kyuran soon spoke up once again.
"Things that would deal with our kind more specifically. For example... many creatures' tails seem to provide some sort of use. It aids in balance for some of the ground-dwellers, and it helps a bit with flight for birds. If you were to remove the tail, you can potentially cripple that creature to an extent. Which makes me wonder if our own tails are as essential... But I've yet to be able to test it out."

As the other painter continued to speak, Othello found himself subconsciously grabbing his tail. Though, his eyes never left his new acquaintance.
And while, he did have a very interesting subject of study... Othello's mind could only dwell on how you would test such a theory. "B-but... In order to prove this... You'd have to... Have to..." Othello was most definitely not a fighter. And... The mere thought of dismembering his brethren made him sick at his stomach.

Kyuran couldn't help but be amused with this other painter's reaction. That was another small curiosity of his... basically finding out how others would react to hearing things like this. With a sly grin, he glanced at the pan'lun's tail before giving somewhat of a shrug.
"Cut off a few tails of some fellow painters and see what happens? Yes I would, unless you can think of an alternative. "

Othello saw him looking at his tail. His eyes widened, and he gulped. Oh, where had curiosity led him this time?
"W-well... Would you really be sound with the thought of causing another pain in the name of theory? To take a life away from a painter who did nothing to you?" Mind you, this painter hadn't said anything about killing them... But in his mind, the possibility of crippling them was just as bad. If not worse.
"I've had characters run into me that didn't share my interests, dare I say... Even ridiculed me... But I don't think I could ever wish a cruel fate upon them and mean it."
Now Othello was becoming very uncomfortable with him. He glanced at the path he'd been following, and wished above all he hadn't run into that tree.

Kyuran's grin widened a bit as he noticed the other male become increasingly nervous or uncomfortable with his words. This little encounter had definitely awakened him fully, though he still felt a bit weary as far as his body was.
"I never said anything about taking their lives. Just their tails. And who knows... maybe it won't cripple them at all! For flight and for walking or swimming that is. If it does... then I'll know for sure that I'll need to keep my own tail in good condition."
He paused for a moment, thinking about this.
"And so others will continue to ridicule you and such."
