Reina streched and walked through the newly spring flowers; she had decided that she needed to talk to Nek. She looked around and thought about where she had seen her before.... The forrest. She switched directions and started to head over to the forrest.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.It had been a long morning, she thought, first the dream with Kuit, and then the situation with Kara. She really didn't want to deal with anymore torment today. Nek sighed, not that it couldn't be helped, it seemed trouble liked to follow her just like pessimism followed Albaine.

It was all that Law, Murphy's Law? Whatever can go wrong, will. That was the point anyways. So she laid her head back against the tree she was under, it seemed she was forever sitting underneath a tree of somesort unless she was moving, and simply waited for that trouble to come. She didn't think it would take long, but in the course of waiting she began to wonder what the next scource of trouble would be. And then it didn't take long for her to doze off underneath the warm morning sun.

Reina managed to find Nek but didn't want to approach her so she thought for a few minutes then smirked. She then walked by Nek to try and catch her attention and walked more to see if she would follow her.

Her heavy thoughts and the warm sun had worn through Nek's concious, sending her more deeply into sleep than she would have wanted. Not even the sounds of Reina's passing paws could wake her at the moment. The long morning and all of the thoughts that had followed drained her more than she liked to admit, and it was showing now in her sleep, not with nightmares, but the lack of them or any dreams so far.

Nothing filled her mind except the deep embrace of sleep, causing the scowl that normally turned the corners of her mouth and eyebrows downwards to fade. She actually looked... Peaceful. Her eyes held only loosely shut and her mouth opened just the slightest to allow her shallow breaths gave the impression that there was nary a worry on her mind. Not that it would last, but, for the moment that she was unaware, there was no sign of discontent anywhere on her features.

Reina walked back a little to see why she wasn't following, 'She seems peaceful' she thought to herself as she sat down and looked at her. She didn't want to wake her because of how peaceful she looked So she laid down and waited for her to wake up.

The first thing Nek was aware of upon re-entering the waking world was the feeling of someone watching her. She shifted slightly, letting her hand drop to her whip handle before slipping her eyes open, blinking them wide when the image of Reina met her. Her mouth opened and she spluttered before she could think otherwise, "What are you doing here?"

Seconds after the words had left her mouth she regained her self-control and sat up straight, narrowing her eyes and repeating the question in a more stern tone of voice. "What are you doing here?" she asked, crossing her arms over her chest tightly and drumming her fingers on her arm nervously.

Reina looked up at Nek, "You seemed.... Out of character as of late and I wanted to check up on you...." She told her and she stood up and stretched. She looked back over to Nek, "I would like it if you would travel with me to the mountains..." she added as she sat down.

"You don't need to check up on me," Nek replied, keeping her voice cool and uninterested. She didn't remove her arms from her chest, and in fact held them there more tightly at Reina's next question. It wasn't enough for her to only think that Nek may or may not hate her, Nek knew that, but the very reason she couldn't tell her anything was the same reason she couldn't go off adventuring with the other Namir.

With a sigh she finally relaxed, her arms falling to her lap as she closed her eyes for a moment before looking over at Reina, "You know I cannot do that..." She feared this would probably lead to another confrontation like the last time they, or Reina, tried to discuss why, but held herself in reserve, not wanting to jump the gun and turn what could be only conversation into an argument.

Reina sighed, "Why?..." She asked with a slight disappointed look on her face. "I've grown up quite a bit since I first met you... and still I can't figure you out.. I want to know why?" she added.
PostPosted: Thu Jul 23, 2009 12:20 pm

"If I could tell you I would," Nek said softly, murmuring to herself, "You can't imagine how much..." She stopped herself from saying anymore, not knowing if Reina was able to hear her whisper or not, simply shrugging her shoulders and looking back down at her lap.

Why was she feeling ashamed for trying to protect her? If Reina knew about Kuit or if Kuit ever found out about Reina there would be no telling what either would do. Alright, she knew what Kuit would do, but she didn't know if Reina would understand and stay away from her or if she would be like Byrnar and try to turn her protecting against her.

Defeated, she suddenly found herself only able to look at Reina pleadingly, an emotion she will never admit she showed and one which she will be highly unlikely to ever express again, and say, "I can't tell you why."

Reina looked down, "I want to know what upsets you so much... What makes you so distant." She said as her tailed curled around her. "Remembering my past, I spent a great deal alone... no friends or anything. For some reason my soul has chosen you to be my friend." she added as she looked up, "I want to know what you are hiding Nek.... I promise I will listen..." she told her with a calm yet serious look in her eyes.
PostPosted: Sun Jan 03, 2010 8:10 pm

She exhaled sharply, shortly through her nose, producing more of a puff of air noise than a snort, "That's the problem; I don't want you to know." Her eyes turned softer as the past was mentioned, seeing breif snapshots of her own time spent both with those she thought of as family when she was small, with Byrnar, and the time spent alone in between.

"Yes, our souls tend to choose strange things," she almost spat, thinking of three of the four most prominent figures in her life. The rub was that it was her own self that she could have been skeptical towards. But the only living people who had known what she actually was were Byrnar and her mentor, and both were now dead, with neither having told Nek's greatest secret to herself.

"I do not doubt that you'd listen," she said, determined to try and dissuade Reina from asking further, from realizing what she was trying to ask Nek to do, "I'm afraid you would listen too well." I refuse, she told herself, I refuse to make the same mistake I did with Byrnar; Reina would be safer and better off if she just forgot about me and I'd be happier if she just left me alone.

Would you really be happier? a small voice in the back of her head asked her. It was the question Byrnar would have asked her, had asked her when he'd been alive, a million times. And it was one she didn't think she could honestly answer outloud or to herself. Mainly because she always replied with a silent question of her own. Do I deserve to be?

Reina looked straight into Nek's eyes, "I want to know! Don't I deserve at least that?" she asked as she stepped a little closer, "Tell me what worries you so much!" she added then fell silent unsure if she had pushed her limits... she then thought to herself about all the times she had wish she had a friend and the one friend she had here.... always seems to be troubled. Did she want to let her friend feel troubled inside and hold it in? She couldn't let Nek do that... she wanted her to feel happy.
PostPosted: Sun Jan 03, 2010 9:00 pm

"What you deserve is to stay away from me," Nek stated, gazing back at Reina with level eyes that seemed to have grown more pale and less focused as she tried to think of a way to make the other understand without giving her incentive to stay near.

Making Reina angry with her had not worked, trying to scare her away had not worked, Nek was running out of things to try. Finally she looked down, hanging her head as she thought of giving in, "If... If I-"

No, she couldn't do that. It wasn't right of her to put Reina in danger without letting her know the risks of that danger. But fearing the reaction to knowing those risks was the reason she couldn't let her know the risks and therefore the reason she couldn't-why did her stupid human have to run her Namir in so many circles all of the time? She growled in frustration.

"It's- I can't-" she refused to look up, letting her multi-colored eyes swirl into murky pools of despair, "If-" A heavy sigh wracked her body and she seemed to sink down into the ground under the weight of a heavy decision. Her unspoken question was going to have to be answered outloud if she'd have any hope at all of getting Reina to understand.

"I-I can't tell you because it involves- it involves..." she trailed off, knowing she couldn't tell Reina it was about her because that would make her want to know more. But the truth was it involved everyone, everyone Nek was or would be even semi close to. Moonlight seemed to be the only one immune to Kuit so far, but she wasn't someone Nek thought she could confide in very readily; she didn't even know if Moonlight's intentions were good or bad. After all, when they met she had been trying to steal something Nek was supposed to protect.

Another thing she had failed to keep safe, something outside of Kuit that she had failed to keep safe. Which proved that the fault had not been with Kuit at all but with herself. "I'm not-" she forced herself to look up, her fog-filled eyes not really seeing Reina though they looked straight at her, "I don't deserve to tell you."

There, she had answered her silent question; she had failed, time and again, to keep her loved ones from dying. Or something about her had made them fail to keep from dying on her. She couldn't risk that of Reina and even if it was a risk Reina was willing to take Nek wasn't worthy of asking it of her. Another's life just wasn't a price she was willing to pay to attain some small bit of breif happiness for herself. She didn't deserve it anyways.

Reina blinked not a confused blink or a sad blink... it was more of a listening blink. "I don't....." she started to say as she walked close, "I don't believe that one bit!" she told her. "You deserve to be happy... and this is obviously bothering you. Why can't you just tell me? Do you think that I will judge you or be upset? ... Nek, I want to know... why you push everyone away! Why you push me away! I know it isn't cause you don't like me.... I'm empathetic.. I can feel how others feel.... What the hell are you so scared of!" she rambled, on and off of yelling... not particularly at her or at random moments, it was more of at parts she thought needed to be heard more. Reina looked at her, not angry, not confused but determined; she wanted to be told... she didn't want to feel as if Nek is suffering.
