Who: Sa'ida & Natsuki and Alex & Zul
Where: Natsuki's House in Ilse de Gambino
When: A clear spring evening
Weather: Sunset painted with Sailor's Delight

Sa'ida was dogged tired. Rare, yes, but it did in fact happen. She managed to find a make believe game that she didn't like... Cinderella. From the rosy fingered dawn until mid-afternoon, she and Natsuki worked their fingers to the bone cleaning the house and preparing for dinner guests. "Which one is Alex? Come on, tell me. Please? Just a hint?" the rainbow Frei pleaded, with a twitch of a whine in her weary voice. The house was spotless, but the little genie was too pooped to party. She scanned Natchi's collection of framed photographs, trying to pick out the Italian woman her guardian spent all day speaking of.

"Fine. Fine. After all your hard work today, I think you've at least earned a clue," Natsuki mused, taking a break from chopping tomatoes and onions for her Italian feast, and wiping her hands on her apron (can you believe it?!) "Look for black hair and green eyes... and human"

At the mention of black hair and green eyes, Sa'ida's thoughts immediately drifted to Tariel, but the battle angel was very much a raevan and not human. 'Black hair. Black hair. Black hair....' she chanted to herself internally, scanning the photos. One thing was for sure, she sure had enough of them. There was one of her with Dr. Kyoupi at a Kissing Booth from Valentine's Day a few years back. Dr. Kyoupi had black hair, but he wasn't a girl. There was another with Shuura dressed in her Cafe Jubilee uniform, but Shuura didn't have green eyes. Then she happened upon one of Natsuki and some scruffy looking guy dressed as a pirate. He looked like that dude in that movie she wanted to see, but again, whoever he was-- he wasn't a lady with green eyes.

"How are ya doing over there? FInd it yet?" Natsuki teased, not informing her raevan that she had accidently passed over the picture of Alex several times. How a raevan with such eye to colorful detail couldn't find the picture she so (intentionally) described vaguely. Uncorking a bottle of red and taking the chilled bottle of white from the fridge, she smiled impishly, watching with interest.

"Are you sure its here because, I'm not seeing it," Sa'ida asked skeptically, thinking she could have possibly been hood winked by the lady who tricked her into helping with the housework using a fairy tale role play as a distraction. Then the doorbell rang, marking that the time limit had expired. Sticking her tongue out playfully, Natsuki set down the bottles of wine and headed for the door. Unwilling to back down, Sa'ida kept looking.

The month had been a rollercoaster of emotions for the feisty Italian: joy and uncertainty in her meetings and strange interactions with Aphismet; worry and concern for Zul's behavior with Rivener; a deep grief for the loss of Gage; and now, a thrill, a delight so strong and vibrant at being able to see her beloved friend that she could barely contain herself. Alex felt as though she would explode if she didn't keep herself in check, quietly vibrating with excitement to see Natsuki again.

"It's been so long," she breathed softly into the air, wearing a blouse for a change, a mosaic of black and greens in the appearance of a Mucha piece over simple dark jeans. She'd even left her hair in a loose ponytail, as it was really too long to do much else with recently, even going so far as to debate just hacking it all off. Alex grinned; it probably wasn't wise to think of spontaneous and wild things when with her very spontaneous and very wild friend so near by. No doubt the ideas would catch like wild fire and consume them both!

The demonic Frei floated near by, her constant shadow. After the loss of the Raevan he did not know and its mark left on his smiling woman, he'd been very mindful of her and her whereabouts. It came as a surprise to hear of a female friend that had invited them to dinner; he'd heard of this Natsuki but only in fond recollection. Zul held no opinion either way as he floated outside the woman's home, looking between it and Alex, the fading sun painting his hair vibrant colors as it nestled against the ocean. His central horn pulsed in soft yellow hues, brilliant enough to rival the flaming ball in the sky, but for once, he had no desire to outshine anything. "You will be okay?" he asked for the hundreth time that night.

Alex looked over to her charge, giving him a small smile. He'd thought her weak, she knew, to cry as she had over the loss of someone she'd never met. Now he was acting as though he were her Guardian. The woman had to remind herself that it was his own brand of caring, and as he had said before - he was nothing like humans. He never would be. She was coming to terms with that. "Yeah," she reached out to idly tug at his arm band, "dandy. You'll really love Natsuki, she's a character."

He gave her an uncertain glance of crystalline blue eyes, not sure what it meant that someone was a character. To him, it meant she was a fictional creature made by someone else. He was relatively certain that wasn't what she meant. "Okay," he said with the same disbelieving tone, floating at her side.

The woman rolled her eyes and gently brushed her fingers over his spine before knocking. She was calm in that moment, watching the sunset paint the house and surroundings with the most dazzling colors...but the door opened, drawing her attention back--

Natsuki.

"Oh I've missed you," she barely managed to push the words beyond her sudden and wide grin, flinging her arms around Natsuki in a tight embrace, squeezing the woman with all the affection she could muster. It was quite an embrace, to say the least.

Natsuki felt her heart pound as she opened the door, finding Alex, her long-time gorgeous Italian gal pal. To Natsuki, Alex was a beloved sister, and their minds were completely in sync with one another. Like a scene out of a movie, Natsuki threw her arms around the raven haired woman, burying her face in the woman's shoulder. One could hear the music swelling, painting the mood perfectly with the rainbow sunset streaking the sky. How long had it been? That didn't matter anymore. Alex was here. She was really, truly here.

"Me, too. You have no idea, bella," Natsuki whispered, feeling her voice choked up, and a tear slipping past her lashes. Perhaps, she'd held longer and tighter than she should have, but Natsuki couldn't bring herself to make the greeting a short one. It had been far too long. Pulling away just enough to look her friend in her gorgeous green eyes, Natsuki smiled with mist lingering in the corners of her own gray ones. She kissed Alex lightly on each cheeks, as they used to.

It felt like a century ago.

Looking over Alex's shoulder, Natsuki she realized they weren't alone. She'd know that Sa'ida would naturally follow her to the door, but there was another raevan floating on her porch. "I see that you and I have a lot to talk about, Alex. You see, I too... wait... three... two... one..." she said, looking down at her watch, as if she were waiting for the other shoe to drop!!

"NATCHI, I FOUND IT!!" the rainbow Frei boomed, from the foyer, waving the photo of Alex and Natsuki. She stopped short, nearly dropping the frame to the floor. She'd seen her guardian with other guardians like We'rika, Mouse, and Aphismet, and others, but the genie had never seen Natsuki hug another guardian like she did at that moment. "Group hug!!" she said snuggling up to the women wrapping her petite arms around the waists of both girls, giving a snuggly, cuddly hug before letting go.

"Hi there!" Sa'ida beamed, giving the other frei a sincere smile, warm like the midday sunshine. Golden bangles jingled as she waved her hand. The genie girl giggled happily, taking a deep breath. Mandarin Orange. Blue Curacao. Dark Cacao. She didn't know who this new guy was, but he smelled deliciously sinful-- like Natchi's "Death by Chocolate" paired with a margarita! Not that she'd ever had them, but she smelled the flavors in the kitchen at home. Something made her hesitate, but she couldn't put her finder on it. "M-my name is Sa'ida. What's your name?"

It was a good thing Natsuki held on, because Alex wasn't about to let go. She could hear that strain in her dear friend's voice, squeezing her closer in return, eyes momentarily closing just to hold onto that precious moment. Some friendships were born out of years of knowing each other, common interests, even a common plight. Their friendship was founded in one moment of selfless protection and an instant spark that burned deeply into sisterhood and something more. Alex would do anything for her friend's happiness.

"I'm sorry," she murmured softly, knowing she'd missed much. She didn't know anything of Chloe or the kidnapping, not able to fathom what Natsuki had been through, but all she knew was that she hadn't been there for her friend. Alex allowed herself to be drawn away from, smiling softly in return of Natsuki's own, returning the gentle kisses on the woman's cheeks. That felt much better, much more familiar, like...maybe, just maybe...some things didn't change, after all.

Her eyes flicked towards her shoulder at Natsuki's words and indication, a more pleased smile curving her lips. "Yeah, it's...it's been a long time," she laughed softly, raising her slender brows in amused question at the rest of the statement. She didn't bother to mention the visit to Kyou's hospital room, instead giving the sudden entrance of the brightly colored and adorned Raevan the proper reaction she deserved: deep admiration, sweet affection (that night still lingered in her mind, remembering the smell of rain and beer as though it were yesterday), and a fond, tightly returned hug.

"My goodness..." she breathed quietly as the Raevan turned to look at her own charge, wide eyes turning to Natsuki. Sure, Alex had seen her, but still! "She's beautiful." The memory of that night was heavy in her eyes, but there was pride there too. "Perfect."

Zul himself had to compose himself and not stare in shock at his woman was suddenly wrapped up...no, embracing...no, entangled with another. He'd never seen her react like that to anyone, and the emotion there made him deeply curious, blue eyes meeting Natsuki's as the woman looked at him. What are you, he wondered inwardly, to have such power over her?

Even that thought was cut short, as the room was suddenly glowing, full of color and bursting with radiance. The demonic Frei actually floated back a bit, surprised by...everything about this Raevan. Female, bouncy, affectionate, giggly, and she was...there was color everywhere. His sharp gaze remained on her, the bright beacon within the house as he remained outside still, painted by the sun and the encroaching dark. There was much that passed in that moment that he didn't understand, but it was gone, and he let it be.

"Good evening," he replied in his soft, smokey voice, regaining some of his composure and putting his gloved hand over his bare chest, offering a bow to her wave. Her vivid eyes and dark skin won points with him, but he couldn't get over the amount of color that seemed to be a part of her, cling to her, and yet glide through the room. There was more color in and around her than the sunset sky, and that was saying something. "I am Zul," he introduced himself with his best manners and vocabulary, floating a bit closer to the door, crystalline eyes turning between Sa'ida and her woman. "It is a pleasure to meet you."

"Do come in, Alex. and Zul. I am so glad that you were finally able to make it out here," Natsuki said, reuctantly pulling herself away from Alex, and pushing open the vintage French doors leading to the living room. The last time she and Alex saw one another, it was under very precarious contexts, some of which where quite fuzzy to her these days. Shaking her head, she didn't want to past to cast a black shadow over their present and future.

"Welcome to our home, Zul," Sa'ida replied, stiffening up a little bit, and returning his formal bow with a polite lady-like curtsy. Unlike many of the others, Zul, was distant, aloof maybe, and very formal for a frei. Normally, she'd lace arms or offer to take his hand, but this time... for the first time... the young genie didn't know how to make heads or tails of the situation. He was handsome, that's for sure.

Catching Natsuki leading the way into the other room, she did her best W.W.N.D. (What Would Natchi Do?) assessment of then situation. Natchi was Miss Manners if there ever was one, and she certainly didn't raise Sa'ida in a barn (though they do have one in the back). Drifting over to the door, the young frei, took the golden knob in her sun-kissed hand, opening the avenue for the other to enter the house. "Please come in," she said in a softer, subdued tone, motioning the way with delicate fingers like a tour guide.

Rich Italian spices wafted and danced on the air. Fresh, fresh tomato. Sweet, sweet basil. Rich, rich wine. The Japanese girl had a sneaking suspicion that her Italian sister might be a be critical of the Jap-talian nonsense some of the other restaurants tried to pass off as "authentic" Italian food, but she hoped that she'd pass with flying colors.

The table was set for three, so she quickly hurried to the kicthen to get a fourth place setting. The long dining table easily sat eight, but tonight the surplus chairs were pushed back against the wall making the candle light, fine crystal and china, and preliminiary settings look quite magnificiant. Taking the stereo remote from her pocket, she set the player to shuffle and some relaxing mood music came on. Flashy music was fine and all, but certainly not at dinner time. "Would you like a glass of wine, Alex?" she asked her friend, reaching into the cabinet for extra dishes. Even though Zul, like most raevans, may not eat, it would be inexcusable to short change the ambiance.

"Would you two like some water?" Normally, she'd call the freis "kids" but compared to Sa'ida's jubilance, Zul was more mature than the redhead herself.
