Ok so for a while now I've been trying to think up of a good story to write. Everything that I try writing hasn't really stuck to me. I'm mostly in to fictional stories but not to fantasy like and I love writing in 1st person. Any suggestions to help me?

Yeah I'm kinda with vampire boy on this one. Actually you need to think of what interests YOU in terms of stories. What kinds of stories do you want to tell.

What may be even more important is a question of what do you want to tell to your audience. Many (if not all) of the best stories have something to say other than whats written. Pretty much what I'm saying is what ideas do you want to pass unto your audience.

After picking up what you want to say then you can go from there to a theme. You can then set the surrounding worldview, tone (as in light or dark), and social functions.

... Then again a little introspection can help too. You are going to write the story and a good story is going to be a part of you. So before understanding the story understanding oneself is helpful.

Of course another great thing to do is read. Not just fan-fiction and comics but the stuff that great professionals have written. Try to contemplate whatmakes these stories so great while reading them too.

Write something about a war torn medival culture from the first person point of veiw of a warrior or peasant.

lol yes!!! i've started writing new stories about emos... i don't know but it's keeping me interested and also stories about made-up wars... rofl, just trying to help somewhat

You know, i completly agree with the vampire thing. (they do not sparkle!!) but yeah. You know, you can always write about some kid who fell into a time vortex and was forced into a war as an infantry man with weapons he's never even heard of before. ... mrgreen that sounds kind-a cool actually...
