Alright, she blew it. Big time. She knew that being a godling and not telling Valeriu was a mistake. She knew he’d probably be hurt.
But she expected to comfort him like every other time, and things would get better! But… Things weren’t better! He hadn’t even let her comfort him after the entire fiasco.
Her bottom lip jutted out as she picked her way through middling-- Fine! If he wanted to be stubborn, she could be too. If he didn’t want to be with her… Well, then… She’d just find someone that did! Wouldn’t that be a shock?
Tepin couldn’t help the smile that crossed her lips as she made her way through the business district. Surely, with a body like hers, it’d be easy enough to get a boy to like her! Her mom’s genes had kicked in, alright. And just like Mommy, Tepin had some nice ‘assets’ to show off. Even hidden under Vale’s stolen clothes, all the right lumps stuck out in all the right places.
Let the man hunt begin!!

Persy had been gone too long, and Fish was starting to get a bit anxious. Of course she had earned the vacation, she ought to enjoy her honeymoon... but her prolonged absence seemed to be allowing things to go haywire. Echo's death, all the new growths... He blew out a long sigh through his gills and stalked on, turning away and up the street from the empty flower shop.
He couldn't help but feel apprehensive. There was some sort of strange electric charge in the air, something that made the hair on his neck stand at attention and wait for disaster to strike.

Ah! There was one! Next to the weird green building!
But… What? No way that was normal. He had to be a player. With flashy looks like that-- no way he was just a normal guy. The prickling at the back of her mind only seemed to confirm her suspicions.
Even better. Vale’d go nuts if he knew his little princess was with someone dangerous! Maybe that would awaken his subdued protectiveness, and everything would be perfect! And she’d have a boyfriend out of it! Everyone won!
“Hey!” She started after him, a bounce in her step. “Hey, wait!”
It was exciting! This was her first time trying something like this! Sure, she was nervous, but that was all a part of the fun, right? Of course!

And there it was. The disaster. Whoever was chasing him, that was it. A sense of dread in the pit of his stomach, Fish turned around and was mildly surprised to see a teenaged girl, maybe a few years younger than him (in a loose sense of age), chasing him.
"Can I help you?" he asked.
His player senses were tingling, but he didn't need them to know she was involved based on her tattoo, her hair, and her eyes, which didn't make sense seeing as she was far too powerful to have escaped his notice so far. Then again, he'd been pretty out of it lately.

“Oh, uhm.” Her foot tapped anxiously as a bright red band formed right under her black one. This was way more embarrassing than she thought it would be! “Not so much help as… Shoot… Uhm.”
With a little step back, she couldn’t help but stall, getting a better look at the man’s face. He was cute, in that… Teen idol kind of way. Not the “normal” kind of looks. It was a bit like looking into a magazine; even the glittering scales reminded her of Hollywood makeup.
“Yea, geez-- Just wait a sec!” Fidgeting, she rubbed at her arm awkwardly. Why was this so hard? It was just asking someone out! Just…
Just go for it! The worst would happen was being rejected. And… Well… She was used to that already, right?
“I was wondering if you had some free time, actually. Like… Maybe… You’d wanna go do something with me?”

Fish stopped and waited to hear the girl out. He crossed his arms across his chest and drummed out an impatient rhythm on his elbows.
"Are you trying to pick me up?" he asked incredulously. He had not been so blatantly hit on by a girl since Moony had given up her pursuit of him. "Or do you have a dog that needs killing?"
In middling, you could never be sure what random people on the street planned to request from you.

“What? No!!” She recoiled, staring at him incredulously. “I just wanted to ask you out!”
As an afterthought, she felt the need to add to that, “Wait? You kill dogs? That’s not cool!”
Well… Maybe, maybe she had a kitty at home who needed a good whipping. But that was for another day--
“Did I come on too strong?” Her face flushed, she probably looked like such an idiot!! “You must just be trying to scare me off, right?”

"Pick up. Ask out. It's the same thing," replied Fish. Oh, god, how to decline her without pissing her off?
"It's not that I'm trying to scare you away," he replied, "It's just that i have to say no. You're not my type." Honesty and Euphemisms being the best policy and all that.

She scowled at him. What? Did he think she was stupid? Sure-- bring up that you kill dogs, and then when people react, make them look like an idiot and ignore that brutal detail? Clearly he must be the kind of guy who killed them often, if such a huge deal could be so easily overlooked. He was patronizing her. She hated that. Of course she knew that they were the same. Just because she wasn’t very bright, didn’t mean people could just assign her the role as a fool.
“A-Alright then.” She was trying hard not to get offended for the rejection on top of the insult, but that was amazingly tougher than she thought it would be, “That’s cool. Thanks, then.”
She knew she wasn’t supposed to take it personally-- of course someone with glittery things on their face would turn down a girl who looked like a bandit! That was common sense.
She’d have to find a way to invest in some concealer…!!

s**t. s**t s**t s**t, she was getting upset. Fish groaned inwardly. "I mean," he said awkwardly, "It's not that you're not pretty - you're very pretty - it's just - I mean - s**t, it's hard to explain."
Please don't cause a scene, he thought furiously. This was just his luck that he'd get hit on my some psycho.
"The dog killing thing was just a joke," he added, still trying to calm her down.

Tepin couldn’t help but c**k a brow-- what? Gah. What was it with men? They had to make no sense what so ever, didn’t they?
“Yea-yea. Sure.” She waved him off, dismissing him. “I’m sure you’ve got your reasons-- I’m sure they’re great reasons.” She admitted with a shrug, putting on a front of nonchalance, “Because it’s not really worth wasting my time, after you shot me down and all.”
She took a step back, turning to move onto better pastures, “So I’m gunna go and find someone who is. Have fun with the dog… thing, or whatever.”
God! She couldn’t help but internally groan as she made her way across the street; it really couldn’t have gone much worse than that, could it? Did she even get a sentence down before getting rejected? Geez. He couldn‘t have been more of a d**k about it, too. He could of at least said he was busy, or some other kind of lie.
And what the heck was the dog thing? She still couldn‘t figure out what that meant. Was that some kind of code? Had she failed because of that? Oh god! Had she been rejected for not knowing some sort of secret password?!

Fish let her go. Really, he needed all that like he needed another hole in his head. The girl was a player, certainly, but she hadn't seemed like the game was her goal. In fact, it seemed like her goal was a boyfriend.
Unfortunately she had picked the wrong player to try hitting on by a long shot. He felt bad about his outright rejection, since she was obviously so new to this, but at the same time he felt like he'd handled the situation quite acutely.
Fish kept on walking. He was not about to let something like this ruin his day.
