"You're dead! And you and you! Eee!" It was a fierce declaration from a very young voice, with lots of swatting sounds to follow, and ending with a squeal of delight and then a snort of approval. "Uhmmmgup!"
It the squalling came from a near-infant cub. If anyone would see her, they would see that she was eating on several slow-moving centipedes she had just found. She was utterly and completely proud of herself for this.
The light colored feline was scraggled and thin in appearance, but held herself with a surly, confident air. Her eyes now glanced along the ground, completely caught up in her hunt.

Eerielin heard the sounds of course. As she was near enough to hear them, she decided to inspect them as well. With her tail feathers raised up, she quietly pawed her way towards the cub that seemed to be...playing with it's food? Eerielin tilted her head a little as she peered at the other cub, her little flakes pressed down by her ears.
"Ew."

Boring didn't even look up, she quickly pounced on her half-eaten meal and gobbled it up, swallowing quickly. She stayed in the low-crouched position, looking up to eye the intruder with suspicion.
"What do you want?" She demanded, "This is MY hunting ground. Go find your own! I'm not sharing. Only I eat here!"
She didn't spat at the newcomer, though her tail waved threateningly.

Eerielin slowly approched the other cub. Her head, ears, and flakes lifting up as she carefully picked her steps. The other cub looked a bit scrawny... Eerielin cast a self conscious glance down at her own fur. She wasn't exactly chubby the way a real healthy cub would be, but she was no where near as badly off as this other cub.
"Ugh. You can keep your hunting ground." She replied with her nose still turned up "I don't eat worms."

Boring's eyes flashed indignantly, her ears laid back. She now did reach a paw toward Eerielin, swatting at the air in front of her, but not bringing out her claws. "Huh? So what if your mommy feeds you other junk. I ever wanted it anyway, so I don't care! You're not better than me!"
There didn't really seem to be much thought to Boring's words, she just spat them out as the came to mind. That was enough to tell much of who she was. Abandoned, alone, and determined to survive as it was. She would never admit her life was any better than the way it was. How dare this other cub show up, look better, act like she was better, and turn her nose up? Ggrrr!

Immediatly Eerielin's ears laid back on her head when the other cub began to bat at the air. She lifted her own paw and drew her head back, her eyes squinting just a little bit as she leaned back on her haunchs.
"I don't have a mommy." She curtly replied. "And yes I'm better. I don't eat worms. Birds eat worms. Your a bird!"

"Well, your dad or your pride or something then!" Boring spat, her words now turning acid. She put her paw down, but didn't back down, satisfied a bit at thinking she'd startled the other cub.
"If you were my pride, I wouldn't get better things for you. I'd throw you in the river and then run away and never come back. I'd laugh at you. Why? Because you have stupid eyes. Or you are stupid. Can't even see that I'm a lion just like you. Stupid."

"Don't have those either." Eerielin replied once more in a curt manner. Though the other cub had set her paws down, Eerielin did not ease out of her wary position. For all she knew this other cub would try and bite her the moment she relaxed. She was probably sick too!
"If you were in my pride we'd eat you." Eerielin returned the mean words of the other cub. She bared her small teeth and attempted to fluff her fur a little bit. "Because you eat worms that makes you a bird. Bird brain! Bird brain!" She taunted the other.

"Drown! Drown! Drown!" Boring shrieked, jumping up now in a fit of rage, paws flapping wildly at the other cub. "Where are your hunting grounds!?!"
Really. She needed to tell her where her hunting grounds where. Then she needed to drown. Boring wanted those hunting grounds. Boring was the best EVER, did everything best she knew how, but that cub ate better than she did! It wasn't fair, and she wanted it. She wanted it now.

"I can't drown. I can swim. Bird brain!" Eerielin hissed back at the cub. Then, just as she had expected, the other cub began to swing and bat at her. Eerielin did not hesitate this time. She flailed out with a few boxing paw swipes of her own.
"Not going to tell you! Bird Brains don't need hunting grounds!"

She had always been on her own. That meant she had no idea what it meant to fight really. No training in anything she did. She had just reacted out of pure instinct.
The result was that Boring's opponent had everything possible over her. If Boring even touched Eerielin, it would have felt like a weak thwat. Boring had left herself wide open, and one of boxing paws smacked her on her collar bone. Boring spun backwards immediately.
But she was made of tenacity and feline. She was on all fours again, growling and trying to make her skin and bones look big and fearful. "Fatty, fatty! Your fat will make you sink and drown!" She hissed.

Eerielin's father may have been a old lion...but he had taught her very well by word of mouth. He had instructed her and guided her. Most importantly he had worked with her when he could to ensure that she would get her lessons right.
Now, she most likely would not have done so well in a fight against a adult. Or against a cub that had been trained with other cubs. But Boring was hardly even something for her to worry about. She saw how easily the other cub was knocked down by her blow, and emitted a small 'Heh' while Boring got herself back up.
"Stupid bird brain. What's the matter? Mommy didn't want you did she? She left you out here to be picked up by the birds. Worthless baby! Betcha she never loooved you. Betcha no one ever wanted you at all."

Boring let out a wail of anguish and indignation as the words both struck a chord and she felt as if her very brain had indeed been picked by this other cub.
"My mommy gave me a really good name! Better'n yours and worth more than your fatty fat fat! Bet you learned to swim 'cause your mom did try and drown you, or got tired of you eating all her stuff. You killed her eating all her stuff! Fatty!" Her words had become more furious now and she yowled her head as loudly as she could.
How dare she? How dare she!!

Eerielin was not bothered anymore about the fat comments then she suspected the other cub was by the bird brain name. What did seem to get to the other cub was the jab at her mother.
Eerielin felt a satisfied grin pulling at her lips when she heard the howling made by the other. She really shouldn't have enjoyed making fun of the other cub but... there was a self satisfying feeling that came to being mean.
Eerielin slunk herself down onto her belly, and started to knead the ground under her. "Betcha your mommy just killed herself hen she saw what a stupid cub she had. You killed her just by being born."
She cast her eyes around her, then with a huffing little sound she continued. "Know what? Your not good enough to have a hunting grounds. I'm taking this place as mine to. It's all mine now."

"Did NOT!" Boring screeched, then went to jump on Eerielien again, batting in swatting. Now words were needed for her rage now, her eyes had all shown it.
Stupid. Fat. Rodent. Cub. Wouldn't. Take. Her. Place.
