Haki listened to the wind rustling the leaves. It was a beautiful sound, like the wind was singing. A log provided a flute, whistling with the rustle. A pond near by provided its own music, like frogs jumping in the water, creating a soft 'plunk', as the frogs themselves chirped the night away. The deep-brown lion smiled, listening to it. Letting out a sigh, he hummed, before a song came to him. "Late at night when all the world is sleeping, I stay up and think of you.. And I wish on a star, that somewhere you are, thinking of me, too..."
Miira walked, looking around quietly. Despite speaking with her mother, she still hadn't returned to the dens, though she knew she had cubs to mind. White paws dipped into the pond, and she lay, half soaked, watching the fish.
Hmmmm. Dinner perhaps?
Stepping around a group of trees, looking around, Haki barely noticed the lioness. As he paused to admire an evening bird, he flicked an ear, hearing a different sound in the water. The male looked over, ears lifting a bit at the sight of of her. The pure white coat and wing markings were reminscent of Kohpi. Was this the daughter she'd mentioned to him? "... We've got stars directing our fate, and we're prayin' it's not too late, 'cause we know we're falling from grace..."
Miira was focused; intent on the fish in front of her, not yet scenting the male upwind. She narrowed her eyes, timing the fish, and one paw rose in preperation. A sudden splash, and a sizeable fish was in her claws. Miira moved swiftly, killing the fish before dropping it by her. Repeating it again, she rose, moving to carry her kills, and stopped, finally sighting the mud-coloured lion. Both ears pricked. What was that guy DOING?
Noticing her looking, Haki blushed just a bit. "Um... Hi..." Graceful, very graceful... "I... Um... Was told to meet someone here... By a white lioness." Very descriptive... "With orange and gold wing marks on her back." At least he'd narrowed it down... By a lot.
"My mother?" Miira raised an eyebrow, puttinh the fish down for now. Oh, Gods, what was her mother planning? Miira wondered.
"I guess... She told me she had a daughter who could see things... And that she'd been dreaming of someone singing." Why did he get the feeling that this was her, and they'd just be set up? It was a nagging feeling in the back of his mind... And it was very persistent.
"That's me. The freak." Miira snorted. One good vision didn't change the fact most of her vision were bad, and she sat, looking at her paws.
"Aw, you're not a freak! One of my brothers can see things, too!" He stepped closer, smiling. "No two lions see things the same way, though." He tilted his head, ears flicking. After a moment of thought, he hummed a moment, then... "I hear Jerusalem bells are ringing, Roman cavalry choirs are singing, be my mirror my sword and shield, my missionaries in a foreign field... For some reason I can't explain, once you know there was never, never an honest word, that was when I ruled the world..."
Miira tensed. He was singing? Why was he singing? Why was it famili--oh GODS. Miira began shaking. This was impossible. How? It was real? She'd forseen good from someone real?!
Watching, Haki tilted his head. "Are you... Okay...?" He took a hesitant step foreward, a touch of worry in his voice and eyes. He hadn't scared her, had he?
Miira nodded, shaking still, and looked up.
"My name is.. Is... Miira. It's nice to meet you."
"I'm Haki..." He had to resist the urge to sing. He wanted to, very badly. She seemed the sort that would enjoy it, that wanted it. He hesitated, then offered a smile. "I hope you don't mind my singing... I like doing it... I've just always been the musically-inclined sort, I guess..."
Miira shook her head. "I don't mind." She said softly. Without thinking, she tucked herself under him, just behind his forelegs, taking in his scent, fish forgotten, and she sighed contently, rumbling as she did so. Yes... This felt right.
Haki blushed a bit, though his fur hid it for the most part. The shield-like marking on his face showed it off nicely, as well as the white eye marks, but beyond that... "If you said goodbye to me tonight, there would stil lbe music left to write... What else could I do? I'm so inspired by you.. That hasn't happened for the longest time..."
Miira sighed, leaning closer as she shut her eyes. She had a name for a voice; finally, and it felt.... Nice. After a moment, she looked up.
"Come home with me...?" She asked, sleepily.
"Of course..." He nuzzled her, finding the situation comfortable. Some part of his mind nagged him that there was more to this situation than he realized, but he ignored it. "I don't care what consequence it brings, I have been a fool for lesser things... I want you so bad.. I think you ought to know that I intend to hold you for the longest time..." He stood up, prepared to follow her home.
Miira smiled, rising herself, before moving toward her home, heart skipping a beat every so often. She's found him! He was kind, good, handsome.... Oh, was he handsome... And for once in her life, Miira felt happy.
