I so love this "epidemic". People freaking out over next to nothing. I heard a Chinese hotel got put on lock down because one person has swine flu there.

Kaim Arounet I so love this "epidemic". People freaking out over next to nothing. I heard a Chinese hotel got put on lock down because one person has swine flu there. While I do agree the hotel lockdown is a bit out of hand considering the lack of severity of the current situation, I do also understand why asia is taking actions to thwart the spread of the flu, in the last decade asia has been battered with disease. Asia has seen outbreaks of SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrom), Avian flu, and now Swine flu. While the Avian flu was not so much of a threat as it appears the Swine flu may turn out to be, one can hardly blame the governments of asia for being fed up with all of this. Regardless of how dangerous specific outbreaks turn out to to be, information travels fast and not always in a reliable manner. Sometimes fears are hyped up, which regrettably the governments of asia appear to be doing unintentionally, when fears are hyped up tourism drops, which consequently results in an economic drop. Definitely I think certain governments are going about this the wrong way, but it is also important to understand why they are taking action.

You mean like Mexico shutting down all public schools? Or New York and San Francisco shutting schools down because one kid had a normal cold?

Kaim Arounet You mean like Mexico shutting down all public schools? Or New York and San Francisco shutting schools down because one kid had a normal cold? Around my neck of the woods (Upstate NY), a school 20 Minutes(FP) away closed its schools last week, and today another school 20 minutes (SC) away from me the other direction closed its schools this week as well. Both are Rural farming communities. The one last week was a positive case. (FP) This one I dunno, (SC) if it is a positive one, I agree it could be just because of a cold. Welcome back will winter biggrin on a lighter note http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmlFzw5xvoEAlso TURN THAT FROWN UPSIDE DOWN EVERYONE STAR TREK XI COMES OUT MAY 8TH mrgreen It you haven't seen the Newest trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P0xaCB2nLS0&feature=channel_page

Sith Master Steve please stay on topic, Star Trek news would be better suited in the entertainment forum, besides that I would like to point out that ordinary flus that go around are much more fatal than this one.

The only think that worries me about swine flu is that my grandfather would get it, I really would like for him to keep living. Other than that, I don't have any fear about swine flu.
And the new Star Trek movie looks horrible. YEA I SAID IT!

This thread is not going to turn into an argument about Star Trek. If you feel the need to hash this out please relocate yourselves to the entertainment forum, thank you.

Twizted Humanitarian Sith Master Steve please stay on topic, Star Trek news would be better suited in the entertainment forum, I did stay on topic for the most part, just I feel that everyone is being emo about the swine flu LOL. Twizted Humanitarian besides that I would like to point out that ordinary flus that go around are much more fatal than this one. yeah, but some say it may get worse though. It is like the bird flu a few years ago. And SARS before that Madox Once you get SARS you have a modest 91% chance of living, that is, if you can survive such grueling symptoms as "headache, fever," and "an overall feeling of discomfort, and body aches." Look out AIDS. I am not worried about it at all Look up George Carlin's Fear of Germs bit for my view! I eat my Steaks cooked RARE Kaim Arounet The only think that worries me about swine flu is that my grandfather would get it, I really would like for him to keep living. Other than that, I don't have any fear about swine flu. I suppose the elderly are at stake, but the flu (SO FAR) seems to only affect people within the 20-49 range. Kaim Arounet And the new Star Trek movie looks horrible. YEA I SAID IT! Would you like the combo meal with your Hater-ade? http://in.reuters.com/article/worldNews/idINIndia-39423520090506 ^ Swine Flu spreads to Sweeden

Well I fear him getting sick from almost everything, since his answer is always to flood it with water.
What can I say? I hate J.J. Abrums with a passion. Throwing darts at an idea board doesn't make you a genius in my opinion.

Kaim Arounet Well I fear him getting sick from almost everything, since his answer is always to flood it with water. That usually works I drink usually a gallon of water or close to it a day and I haven't gotten sick at all during the winter. not even one Cold.

well, in the past month and a half the news networks have seemed to stop the topic of swine flu. at least that is what i have observed. then again, i am in america, not a european country. and to those who are most volitile to the disease, i hope at least half of the efforts that are being taken actually prove successful and effective.

Swine flu wasn't even that much of a disease, when it comes right down to it the regular flu is way more deadly.
