.:The place you rest your head and what your heart always longs for:. 
The cottage itself is a decent size though it looks small, especially when compared to the acreage surrounding it, but it's just right for two. There are two stories to the home; the first floor sporting the normal kitchen, living room, dining room, downstairs bathroom, a large pantry, two staircases (one upstairs, one to the basement), a spare room/office/guest bedroom, and a three-season porch. The second floor holds Sawyer and Jo's bedrooms, an upstairs bathroom, a hall closet, a sun room, and a small door in the ceiling that leads into the small attic. Since there is not too much upstairs, most of the home is openly viewed from the catwalk-like hallway. The home is heated by a furnace in the basement, but during the winter Sawyer occasionally forgoes that in favor of using the wood stove in the living room. All throughout the year the house as a pleasant scent to it; smelling like peppermint, earth, tobacco, various herbs, woodsmoke, smoked meats, clean linen, rain, and warm breads, plus a soft musty scent like well worn books.
