Koda had just discovered a pond in the yard. Normally he would avoid the water if it was cold. Fire types usually lost heat fast from cold water. Today though the summer heat had warmed the water to perfection.
He rolled in it first, getting his fur all wet. He hoped the other subjects didn't mind his wet dog smell. The pond wasn't deep enough for his tastes so he was currently having a blast digging up the mud to deepen the pond. It clung to his legs, darkening the white fur tufts to brown. It also made the water a murky color. He didn't mind! If it became too muddy he'd still roll in it. Mud spas knew what they were doing. Warm wet dirt all over was very relaxing and had minerals in it good for the body.
For now he was just hoping to deepen the pond so he'd have more water to play in!

Mare thought it a good idea to get out of her room and asked if she could be taken outside. Walking beside one guard she looked at all the halls they passed before they to to the door outside. Smiling a little she steps out into the sun and covers her eyes. She didn't mind warm days like today.
Starting across the yard she didn't really look around for anyone she knew, because she really didn't know anyone. But the sound of water did make her slow and turn to look at the pond near by.
Seeing something playing in the water she moves close to see what it was. She knew it was a pokemon for sure.

Koda's sharp ears heard her approaching footsteps. He looked up with big blue eyes. Instantly his emotions turned from fun-loving to excited. His ears perked up, tail wagging with a panting smile. A human? Here? Come to play with him?! HUMAN! He bounced over to her, remembering not to jump up on her. Playfully rolling over he offered a wet furry belly for a belly rub. His scientist never appeared, it's been a while since he had interacted with another human. He missed them. Koda LOVED humans! It was obvious he had once been a pet. He trusted her completely and faithfully just upon sight of her. "Arc arooo yip whiiiine nine arcanine?" 'Belly rub between acquaintances?'

Mare stopped when the pokemon turned towards her. She almost held her breath but saw the pokemon was friendly. Almost forgetting to take in air she grinned. "Hello there!" She bent down and started to rub his belly. He was all wet and muddy but she didn't care. She loved all pokemon, clean or dirty. "Who are you so friendly. Not like so many other pokemon I have seen here." She couldn't help but sit down and rub his belly even more.

Koda innocently had no idea what she meant. "Arca nine arc aro?" 'They don't get enough belly rubs maybe?' He stood, resisting the urge to shake his fur of the wetness. "Yip! nine aro!" 'Hi! Name's Koda.' He lowered his dirty front legs, tail wagging in the air. An invitation to play. Oh, he didn't care what game. Fetch, Tag, Ride the Horsie, Cowboy, Hide n Go Seek, Water Slide, he knew them all. He'd even dig the pond into a giant pool if it would please her. He'd spent his entire pet life making humans happy.

How she wished she could understand him because it sounded like he had alot to say. "Well it seems you want to play." She looked around for a moment for something she could throw or something. Seeing nothing she frowns for a moment. Getting up she touches the top of his head. "Tag." She turns and runs knowing she was not going to be able to out run the dog pokemon. But she didn't care, it was fun.

He knew! He understood the human word tag. Howling with glee he gave her a head start then chased her at a jogging pace, growling playfully. He loved the thrill of the hunt and wasn't willing to catch her... at least not yet!
Finally giving in to the urge Koda shook his fur briefly while he ran. Droplets of water fell off his muddy golden and brown striped fur coat. Muddy paw prints were left behind in the grass, the pond now easily forgotten in the heat of the game.

Mare could always relax around pokemon for some reason. She never liked spending time with other people, but when there was a pokemon around she always acted differently. With a look behind her she grins and keeps at the speed she was running.
Even at the pace that he was running he was getting closer to her quickly. So with a bit of a grin she slowed a little and would try to get out of the way when he got closer.

Koda lengthened his stride, reaching his nose out to tag her in the back. He tried to pace himself perfectly, too fast and he'd knock her over, too slow and she'd get away. The wind blew by, air drying his wet fur. "Grrrrr aro yip!" 'Got you now!' He panted, right behind her, almost there....

Mare side stepped and started a new way hoping to get out of his reach at the last moment. She laughed feeling a few drops of water that fell from his fur. She missed sending time with pokemon like this, and didn't want this to end.

Koda tripped over his own clumsy feet while trying to turn and ends up with a ker PLOP on the ground. He wiggles his way to his feet and wags his tail. He found a small stick and chases after her, half into tag, half into fetch.

Mare looked over her shoulder to watch him trip and she laughs again. Slowing a little and watching him she sees that he has found a stick. Stopping and turned to face him fully she grins. "Feel like playing fetch?" She looked over him and for the first time noticed his colors past the mud.

Koda nodded his head like a human would, leaning his front legs down with his tail wagging up in the air. His whole body wiggled with eager readiness, he let out a playful growl. "Rrrrrrr...." Blue eyes lit up and focused on the stick in her hand, watching the human's every move.

Mare smiles and waves the stick around for a moment watching the pokemon follow it's every move. Slowly moving her arm back she throws the stick as hard as she can. A grin crosses her face has she watched the dog pokemon.

Koda does a 180 degree turn and runs after the flying stick with the enthusiasm of a 5 year old child chasing after an ice cream truck. Wind blows past him and at his speed you would think he could fly. Bright blue eyes zeroed in on his target and with the gentle snap of his teeth and a well placed leap he caught it and began a proud trot back to his human friend.
