A bike, his very own bike and a real one ,not like the toy he'd learned on that hooked to the tv. Taylor was ecstatic to say the least and the young hybrid boy raced up and down the bike isles of the store looking at all of them , smelling the fresh rubber tire smell and spinning the wheels just becuase he could. His tail swept back and froth behind him like a whip making it dangerous for anyone else in the area to be near him. it was simply too great a moment for Taylor to control his excitement and the rest of the world was simply going to have to deal with it.
Penny strolled through the store slowly behind her son shaking her head and trying not to laugh out loud. the pink haired woman found the boy's exuberance for life in general to be charming, the way he was acting now like he was getting a car not a bike was far too amusing for her. Still it was a big step for him and a big choice, Penny intended to get him something he could use and grow into so there'd be no changing of bikes if he got bored or suddenly saw a new one he wanted.

Shylock sat in his father's arms, leaning luxuriously back against the older male's shoulder like he was sitting upon a grand throne. The pair match in outfits - faded cut-off jeans - and were intending to check out the shop's wares.
The green haired boy wasn't particularly keen on keeping or collecting most things but he did need some form of exercise he'd enjoy. Seeing as they lived on the grounds of a large charity organization, the boy and his father had compromised that the bike would be donated to the collection owned by the Cirque for public use by the children, and Shylock would sign it out like the other children. Donating seemed a nice thing to do anyway.
Hopping down from his perch, the little boy moved to wander among the selection, poking and prodding at the different bikes. Style could be modified and improved at home. But durability and quality, now those came from the start.

It was out of his peripheral vision that Taylor spotted the dark skinned, green haired boy. The pride child would have passed him off as uninteresting and gone back to looking at the bikes if closer inspection hadn't revealed that the other boy had along tail with spikes on the end not unlike his own.
Stilling his own tail, Taylor waved at the younger boy " Hi, you getting bike too?" It was ok if the other was just looking but there was more excitement to be shared if he was allowed one too, they could celebrate together. Though a small spike of jealousy ran through the boy at the thought of someone smaller than him getting a bike when he'd had to wait.

The mint haired child turned to look at the other boy and smiled brightly, particularly on spotting their similar tails.
"Oh, sort of, yes. It is to share though." Shylock responded, walking over to smile up at the older child. "Who might you be? And what sort of bike are you getting?" he inquired after a few moments.

" I'm Taylor " The pride boy introduced himself and held a pebbly skinned hand out for a shake like he'd been taught. " How come you have to share?" Getting an answer to this question was far more important in the young boy's mind than answering the other child's.

The dark skinned boy grinned, taking Taylor's hand. "I'm Shylock. And I'm sharing because I don't want a bike for myself but my father and I figured it'd be a good idea for me to have exercise. So we're going to get one that can be loaned out to all of the kids around where I live."

Taylor wrinkled his nose at that, somethings were ok for sharing but a bike? you own wheels that you got to ride whenever you wanted, you couldn't just share that, it was like sharing your freedom " I guess" he murmured while shaking the other boy's hand.
Red and blue eyes flicked from Shylock back to the rack of bikes " It's hard to pick"

Shy turned to glance at them. "Choosing things is hard. If you don't want something, it's hard to choose because you don't know what's the best because you're indifferent to it. When you do want it, you don't know what's best because you're biased towards all of them." the boy commented idly. It was a train of thought he'd picked up sitting in one of the common rooms and listening to the people talking. He liked people so he tended to like being in areas with large numbers of them where he could observe them and hear their ideas. This generally resulted in a mix of ideas on a young mind, all forming into some strange point or another.

Taylor just blinked and stared at Shylock, he'd understood what the other boy had said but it hadn't been easy " You're really smart" he murmured softly. Taylor liked to think he was smart too but clearly this other boy knew more than he did. " I like them all" The pride child admitted.
It was hard to pick just one because it was hard ti figure out which one to like best. Did he choose the best colour? One with bigger wheels or beads on the spokes? Then there was the colour of his reflector light and if he wanted a horn or a bell or neither.

Shylock idly watched the older child, before moving over to poke at one of the ones with beads on the spokes. He pushed the beads up to one end, letting them fall back into place and make soft clicking noises as they did. "This would be noisy to ride, yes?" he inquired softly.

Taylor nodded " Yeah but then everyone would know you were coming and it might keep dogs from trying to bite the tire or something." This was in the boy's mind a very good thing " Plus they're kind of pretty but not in a girly way"

The boy blinked a bit. "Don't bikes come with honky things for that?" His use of the term for the noise made by the object instead of it's proper term gave more hint to his actual age, versus his smarter thinking. He may know a few big concepts but truly, he was still a little boy.

Taylor nodded " Sometimes they come with bells or horns but the beads are good too." Finally finding a bike in the colour and style he wanted Taylor proceeded to climb the lower set of bikes to get up at it. Why did the one he wanted have to be way up there on a higher rack? Though a better question was would Penny kill him of they had to pay for the tires he was puncturing his his sharp foot claws.

The younger boy blinked as he watched his companion. "That doesn't look like a good idea. Can'tcha get hurt or break your bike gettin' down from there?" he suggested.

" I'm fine" Taylor insisted as his tail swayed behind him trying to keep the boy balanced. " I lift stuff all the time." Really he did and some of those garbage bags were heavy too. Besides if this was bad penny would stop him becuase Penny had this this sense she called it of when he was in trouble.
