Food was everywhere. They were in all shapes and sizes- tall, fat, little, big, furry, and not... Most of the food walked on two legs, going this way and that, milling about in front of caged or barred areas. He wasn't sure where he'd escaped to, but it had a lot of appetizing meat and Barghest was very hungry.
But he didn't think he'd try to eat the really fat animal animal standing in front of some box-like cart with wheels; it was just too big, and looked like it was eating some sort of long, meaty noodle that smelled gross yet delectable.
Barghest smacked his lips together in something akin to mild distaste. He decided to crawl over towards one barred area in particular. It had a lot of water... and a lot of tiny, black and white animals with beaks.
They looked very yummy...

A glowing yellow foot slammed down in front of the dog-like child path. The foot was attached to a dark leg, which was attached to a very grumpy looking dark-skinned girl with flaming hair. She grunted and sneered down at Barghest. " Bad puppy!" She screeched at him, golden eyes aglow with annoyance. In one hand she clutched the remains of a stolen lollipop. It had crossed into his line of sight at some point, and, spotting this, Ardia the volcano spirit came to the conclusion that he was going to take it from her. "Bad, bad, stinky puppy!" She shouted, stomping her foot down again. She had recently escaped the clutches of her guardian, leaving them searching and frantic somewhere between the Lions and the Giraffes, and was busily stealing and breaking anything she could before she was caught.

It hadn't really been all that difficult to get lost in the big zoo, but Keita hadn't exactly done it on purpose either. She'd wandered off following Devlin, the squirrel that kept her constant company, and had subsequently forgotten about her guardian, Cael until just a few moments ago.
Her hand clutched a large feather she had managed to swipe from one of the bird exhibits, it's bright red texture glimmering in the sun as she climbed up to sit upon a bench. Her bright eyes, reflecting a sunset that would come for hours, searched the surrounding vicinity quietly and it was about that time that Barghest wandered by.
She ignored him, for the most part, though occasionally her eyes would dip in his direction as he considered the caged animals around him. He was like her, she recognized that much, but she wasn't all together sure about interacting with others. Devlin chittered nervously in her ear, wrapped in the wild curls of her hair as he prepared to defend her, if he must. It was only the arrival of Ardia that drew a reaction from the baby sitting in the bench. As the lollipop was waved around and the newcomer chastised the puppy-child, Keita couldn't help but give a loud giggle from her position only a few feet away.

He hadn't meant to get separated from his guardian. Liam was busy staring at the map, trying to locate something that might prove entertaining for the curious little seagoat.
Cornelius, however, grew bored with waiting around for his guardian to decide on where they should go next. So when a little butterfly fluttered past him, he chased after it with his arms out in front of him. His little hooves clopped against the ground as he ran.
But when he tripped, he lost sight of the butterfly completely. Now he was lost in the zoo without any idea where his guardian might be. But that worry didn't distract him for long as something else caught his attention. It was hard to ignore the screeching of the other child. He wandered over to them, wondering what all the commotion was about.

Fur pricked and raised up along his back and tail, the small and pointed scales along his shoulders and upper back slowly began to rise at the perceived threat. Silver eyes narrowed as scruffy black ears flattened- Bhargest did not like this small, bright, and ugly creature that had blocked off his pathway towards the swimming food.
A nearby couple heading towards the penguin exhibit when the woman tripped; the man attempted to break her fall, instead catching her midway and causing the woman's head to collide with the railing...
Barghest growled at the creature before him, edging backwards, ears flicking back and forth, picking up nearby sounds- one of them in particular drawing his attentions. When he'd managed to crawl far enough back from the threat, his eyes shifted towards the source of the sound. His eyes remained on the second creature even as he remained facing the second, growling and snarling all the while.
Like the one in front of him, the female was small and bright, the varying shades of light grays and near-glowing whites were almost too much for him. Barghest wasn't sure what to make of this other, bright, small, and fiendish female creature- but she looked like she was happy. He didn't know why, but he didn't like it.
A small, furry thing in the happy girl's hair, however, Barghest did like... He liked it very much.
Even amidst the growling, a small trickle of drool began to leak from the corners of his mouth.
