Do you prefer watching anime in English or Japanese?
I personally am for original. For example, If I am watching a movie originally in Korean, I watch it in Korean (with subs of course!) And for Japanese Anime it should be naturally watched in Japanese.
It was the way it was made so that is the way I should see it.
That's my view anyway. Almost all the movies and Anime my Club watches is in Japanese with English subs so members in my Japanese Anime/Culture club do it, even if they want to watch it in English. I have found most people are lazy or don't appreciate another language. This is a good way to help them become more rounded. A lot of them were upset about it but, they have come to appreciate it in Japanese. 3nodding

 I used to be a sub nazi and refused to watch anything in dub. But I've found that these days they've been getting better at dubbing. I'm currently working through the dub of Clamp Campus Detectives. It's good except for Akira's voice but it's just as bad in Japanese so there's nothing to do about it. The English dub of Ah My Goddess isn't bad either. I'm picky about when I'll watch the dub. lol

The sub will always beat the dub as you feel the emotion better (I feel anyway), but sometimes your too lazy to read so thank god we have the option.

Subs generally, dubbing it seems to change the feeling of it or something. I really don't like to watch dubs even if they're supposed to be good..

It depends on what version I see first. If I see it in dubbed, I refuse to watch it in subbed, and vice versa.

I always watch the subbed version. Japanese Languages has just so many nuances and some of them will get lost when translating them into other languages.

My father is a strict "Subtitle, no way" kind of guy and it drives me nuts. I feel like you really miss out on some of the cool things when you're watching a movie. Like... the sound of the language. Plays done by shakespeare were plays that he also took sound into consideration. Okay, so anime isn't exactly shakespeare but at the same time I think it's important to hear what the characters are supposed to sound like. Often times, it may give you a hint into the person's character that you otherwise may not have understood. Like...deepness of voice etc. Americanized is Americanized. Translators and redtape were introduced and the original decisions lost. ._.
But, aside from all of that, if I can't look at the TV then I want to listen to English. At some point though, I want to hear the original language.

My grandpa is this strict 'leave Japanese videos be" kind of guy. I'd always watch Japanese dramas with him and there would be no subtitles whatsoever. Every time I would try putting the subtitles on when he isn't in the room, he'd see me read it to myself in english and literally run and slide for the remote and change it back. I would cry because i didn't have an understanding of what the heck they were saying while my grandpa in a whole year, learned Japanese. xp

I'd much rather watch the original Japanese version with English subtitles any day. The Japanese voices are amazing, the series is original by having all of the scenes intact, and they even have cursing in their anime!
But in sad little America likes to translate the words and lines wrong, cut all of the violence/cool scenes out, and replace most/all of the cursing! The voices also suck beyond all belief...
For example, let's say that Naruto and Sakura are running through a forest (like most episodes):------------------------------------------Japanese version:
*distant explosion*
*horrifying roar*
*child screaming*
Sakura: Oh my God! What the hell was that?!
Naruto: I don't know... but it sounds like it's going to kill somebody! Let's kick it's a** Sakura!
(My focus is on the anime)------------------------------------------American version:
*distant explosion*
*horrifying roar*
*child screaming*
Sakura: Oh my ___! What on Earth was that?!
Naruto: I don't know... but it sounds like it's hurting somebody! Let's kick it's butt Sakura!
(My focus is either asleep like I am, or reading a book)------------------------------------------I also have audible evidence of how the Japanese versions is better than the American versions. Here's two video clips of the show "F-Zero: GP Legend" when Captain Falcon entertains us all by Falcon Punching Black Shadow in the face. Other than the co-pilot's voice, I think that the Japanese version's voices are perfect.
(Pay attention to Black Shadows voice, it's the best example):Japanese version.English version.

I look at it this way, I like watching it in both Japanese and English. BECAUSE...One: In English I can pay attachin to what I am watching than reading. TWO: English voice over actors are really good for the most part. AND English is my first lanuange...for the most part but that's another story.
NOW don't get my wroung I like watching stuff in Japanese, and I do. It helps me learn the lanuage better and I like that.
Sometimes when I am behind in stuff, like I am now, I will look for it online and watch it in Japanese because that's what is out there, but I don't mind it at all.

For me it depends on the series. Some are better subbed, some are better dubbed, some are equal either way in my eyes.

I don't like some of the voices they choose for the characters. (That's right! I'm pointing to you, Naruto!) But, sometimes it makes it better. (Not really)
Overall, English dub sucks.
