How many moons had passed so far? How many? Too many in her mind, and with each passing day her yearning and travels to the borders, whether or not he would be there, kept her waiting, watching. Her crimson eyes would travel over the savanna in waiting, watching for the pelt that was touched by gold, the white mane streaked by black, the golden eyes like the sun that would appear from beyond the invisible line. Sighing, she swayed her tail, feeling the sand shift beneath her paws her claws extended, grasping and sifting it softly, anticipation welled up in her chest.
Her black and white pelt adorned with the red curse mark of her mother blazed in contrast against the sands that held a soft bland yellow hue at this hour. The sun was beginning to set, soon the sky would be lit afire in reds and oranges, the fire in her veins and heart, the fire that boiled in her soul when she thought of the days she spent as an outcast in her mother's eyes all over the mark.
Her mark.
Her mother's mark.
Why had she been pushed away, almost disposed of so quickly? Unfair, unsuitable, and now the fire in her blood fueled and raged as she held her home within the Motoujamii-Simo, the Firekin, but reborn from their old ways. A time of slavery, denial, mistakes.
This was new, and she wanted him to be here, wanted his comfort, his eyes to never leave as they did when he turned to head back into the roguelands. Beyond the line that kept them apart.
"Please," she spoke silently to the approaching night, "Please come back tonight."

Finally!
Ra'D had managed to sneak away from the accursed trainee-slash-leech that had suddenly become of Ryujin. True, his training was progressing a lot quicker than Ra had originally thought possible of him, and that was a good thing, of course! But training didn't make up most of Ra's day like it did Ryujin's. He didn't want to exhaust himself so much that by nightfall he could barely move a muscle, let alone make his way over to the borders of what he hoped would soon be his new home.
He promised her two moons.. only two, but somehow it felt longer to him. The urges to leave camp and see her again had come many times before, but he kept himself from going. He wanted to move forward in his own training as well as help Ryujin with his. It was all he could do while waiting for the pride to once more open its arms. And it pained him to have to wait.
Golden gaze stared out into the distance as the now fully grown male made his way to the borders of the Simo lands. He had yet to lay his eyes on any lion, let alone the lioness he'd been longing to see since they last parted. Still, he kept his promise, whether she remembered it or not. No doubt that she would though.. Ra heaved a sigh as he went, his pace gradually getting faster in anticipation, hoping he'd see a speck of black against against the yellow of the desert.

Her frustration was getting the best of her as of late. With Ka going on about being a soldier and wanting to know why she picked guard instead of fighting, she could give no logical explanation with his yelling and tone of voice. Flicking her tail she wondered when she might be able to spar against Ka again, it made her happy to see that he wasn't as fast as she was. Guard, that's why she was a guard. She fast fast and strong, strength was needed to keep the ruffian rogues out that wished to disturb their home. Why couldn't he see that?
Maybe it would change one day, but for now, she was happy. She did her job well.
But the days with Ra'd here, without Ryujin, it made her heart ache. She dreamed of what it would be like with both of them here, with Ra'd here, she hoped every night he would return.
She raised her head up and closed her eyes roaring out not is aggression, but sad dismay, calling for him to come home.

Eventually the large male's fast paced walking turned into a jog, which eventually turned into a sprint. It was no use trying to hide his excitement after all. Not when he was alone. Not when it concerned Kai. A distant roar pointed him in the right direction, and soon enough he caught sight of the familiar black and red pelt. Ra could spot it a mile away, and with a small smile on his maw he quickened his pace, skidding to a halt as soon as he'd reached her.
"You called?" he said with a grin, not noticing that something seemed a bit off with the female.

As she saw his form approach for a moment she could not tell if it was him or a rogue, if it had been a rogue she would have shown no mercy if this wished to cause trouble. The anguish n her heart from the aching made her vulnerable to the side of herself she did not wish to embrace, the side that made her think of her mother.
With his words so many things rushed through her mind. She called for him many times, but usually he was too far out of reach and she could not wander far from the borders. Kessek wandered as well, and she wasn't too reliable on placement of everyone.
"Yes," she spoke softy, and looked to teh ground, she dug her claws in and looked to the side. She knew the day was approaching soon, when he'd be tested, but did Kessek tell him yet? "I don't like this, I can't-can't wait like this forever Ra'd, its too hard for me. And now, with the changes..." she stopped, grit her fangs and dug her claws into the sand deeper, "I don't know who much longer it will take."

Her words were unsettling, and it wiped the smile off his face and brought on a worried and slightly confused expression. A part of him understood exactly what she was going through - he was on the other end of their separation after all. He knew what she was going through.. but then at the same time he accepted the fact that since having been separated they've had very different experiences. She was a part of the pride with duties and such to worry about, while he was a rogue with nothing but training and the occasional visit on his mind.
"Hey.." he said, a stern but comforting tone to his voice. Ra reached forward with a paw and lifted her gaze to meet his. "Just a bit longer and I'll be on the other side of border right next to you. Ryujin and I both, alright? But you can't quit now."

"Its not quitting! And we don't know how much longer it will take!" she spoke ad she closed her eyes, embarrassed and angry at herself for raising her voice to him when it wasn't his fault, rules, they were just rules but they have kept them apart for so long. "Now there are duels, you have to fight your way in, and Ka, he is all for it, he is ready to battle anyone who wishes to cross the borders and become part of the Firekin Simo, but that means, you and he...you two could fight," she bit her lip, looked down, "What if you two fight...what if you lose, if he loses, how long will it take?I can't-"
She bit back a growl in her throat and nearly choked, "Since you have been gone, I've been getting furstrated more, more angry when sparring with Ka, with paroling, even with simple things I don't-I can't turn int her Ra'd, and with you not here, with you and Ryujin not here I feel like it has come to this and is getting worse, I don't want to be what she thought Ka and I would become Ra'd."

It surprised him that she'd raised her voice. So much that he took a step back and furrowed his brows, a bit of her vented frustration getting to him. "It may as well be," he replied calmly, looking down so as not to lose his temper. That was the last thing he wanted to do, ruin what was supposed to be a moment's bliss for him. He listened to her carefully, the frown on his maw deepening the longer she went on. Once she'd finished he finally looked up.
"So what if we fight?" he asked, his voice getting louder. "So what if either of us lose? Isn't that why we came here in the first place? To train and get stronger? If I lose then it means I need to train harder - that's my half of this burden," and the male quieted for a moment, sighing deeply and he moved his gaze from Kai back to the ground. "Waiting for me is yours.."

Kai stayed silent and bit her lip in protest of herself in silence. She shouldn't have gotten carried away, it was just hard, everytime seeing him and not having him follow her home, not having him and RYujin close was harde than she let Ka believe. She didn't want to be weak, to worry, but how could she not when her family, her true family was not yet reunited?
"If you two do fight, I-I don't think I can watch Ra'd," she spoke softly and hoped he would understand. If she watched, she would be anxious, and worry for them both, be angry is Ka won but upset if he lost, joyous if Ra'd won but sadenned if he lost, "I'd wait closeby but, forgive me if I can't," she felt like if she watched, it'd be too much.
"I'm sorry," she looked up at him with crimson eyes holding so many emotions mixing together and offered a soft smile on her maw, "I know it won't be like this forever."

It was a tense silence that fell between them after what he said. It wasn't easy for him to part ways after their brief meetings either, but for the moment there was nothing either of them could do about it. He knew that he and Ryujin would eventually become a part of the pride, but until then he had to keep his head held high. He couldn't afford to be weak.
At her words the male arched his brow. It wasn't a reassuring thing to hear, but he wouldn't make her watch. The outcome wouldn't benefit her no matter who won, there'd be a slightly bruised pride on both sides, and the chance that Ra wouldn't be a part of the pride for a bit longer if he lost. It was understandable, so with a sigh he nodded his head. "That's fine by me."
Ra returned her gaze, offering a little smile of his own before touching his nose to hers and turning to leave. "Then the next time we meet will be the day I become a part of this place." With that the large male started off back toward camp, a determined look on his face. He couldn't face her if he lost, which left only one option. He had to win.

Kai said nothing as he touched his nose to hers she sighed silently in content though as he pulled away her gaze looked up sharply to see him leaving already. As he turned and walked away she pushed herself to her paws and opened her mouth to call him back, but as she tried, her ears fell back and she sat again on her haunches, and watched him disappeared before her eyes.
She never knew what it was like to truly have her strength tested, her devotion adn pride, but now, all these things, it seemed like an unfair test with too many possible outcomes, and not many in her favor.
As he walked off, adn she saw nothing of his form, she lay upon the sand, not ready to return to the den yet, she knew Ka would talk of the upcoming day, no doubt wanting to test Ra'd himself, but she couldn't hear his voice now, she only wanted to listen to teh wind and gentle echo of Ra'd's voice in her head.
Then the next time we meet will be the day I become part of this place it spoke, and she closed her eyes and curled her tail around herself, "But how long will it be?"
She was not sure she could wait.
