Mercury sighed, as much as he could at least, continuing his downward spiral in the waters of the lake. It was a lovely day, he had spent a good portion of the morning at the surface leaping up and around, trying his best to encourage Leka to play with him, to no avail. He had then gone and lounged in the warmer waters along the shore.. That had got old fairly fast as well, as pleasant as it was. He'd really needed company to make it all the more entertaining.. And all his friends were land-lurkers or preferred the deeper and darker waters of the lake.
Leka was never the easiest beast to rouse into play, admittedly.. It had been even more of a tough task since he had started to take an interest in that other little fishy, River was it..? He mused to himself as he touched down on the smoother, larger rocks at the bottom of the lake. Even down here, the sun could still touch him, though it was not as strong, obviously.
He loved the good days of weather, the lake stayed so clear!
Now all he really needed was to find someone to bother into enjoying it for him..
There really weren't too many inhabitants who were happy to make themselves abundantly obvious.

 Sayuri swam along, lost in thought, trying to work out where his fan had gone. He could have sworn he'd had it with him, but as of this morning, he couldn't find it! He was swimming all over, hunting for it, in extreme distress. "Were is it... oh no, I need that..."

Mercury coiled and uncoiled his long tail where he lounged on the rocked, looking up towards the distantly shimmering surface of the lake..
When it finally hit him.. A very un-whale-like shape darting this way and that just a little to the right of his field of vision!
He couldn't quite make out any colours or any specific features of it, but it sort of looked a little like River, the individual that Leka was currently in the process of claiming for his own..
That thought alone made him a little apprehensive about approaching.. But the need for company happily clawed its was past that thought, and with a pleased little smile he quickly pushed himself off and darted up towards that shape, slowing his approach as he neared. He didn't want to scare it off, after all! And these other fishies did seem a little skittish at the best of times.
"Oh.. You're.. You're very pink! He blurted out when he was near enough. Not quite the greeting he'd originally had in mind, but he had been convinced that this figure had been some else entirely.. And River was certainly not pink at all!

Sayuri EEPED, loudly, at the sudden voice, and spun around, his golden eyes wide with startlement. "Who... wha... Who are you?" He automatically brought his hand up to hide behind his fan, then made an unhappy face, as this reminded him of the whole reason he was out hunting. He tried to use his sleeve, his hand, and was frustrated, as it just wasn't effective. "I... Yes, I am pink... You are green-blue?" He finally said at last, unsure what else to say.
He looked around, in mild distress at the lack of his fan, hoping against hope he'd see it, and be able to scoop it up. Finally, he settled for shifting so one of his fin frills acted almost as his fan would, but it didn't truly satisfy him, nor settle his desire to hide. "What brings you here, into this unworthy one's path?"

The eel ever so slowly tilted his head to the side as he watched the koi try to hide between various things, his expression was a mixture of curiosity and sympathy, though he more he tilted his head, the more his whole body started to tip onto it's side.
"I.. I'm sorry, I seem to have made you uncomfortable.." He offered at last after a slight pause, taking in the little bits and bobs that he could from the other figure.
He was pretty stunning, he had to conclude. And his gender certainly had an air of ambiguity to it.. He's was a beautiful specimen indeed..
By this point he was virtually upside down and he tentatively reached a hand out in greeting to the koi, close but not touching him,
"Unworthy..? No no, I think it's the either way around!" He gave the koi a kind smile to try and steady his nerves, "There aren't many to stray out to where I can see them, and look who did! A most beautiful person to behold!" He grinned a little more sheepishly, "And uh.. Yeah, blue-green.. Sorry about that.. I'm uh.. Not sure what came over me, I was expecting to find someone else entirely.. I'm Mercury, by the way.. And.. Well I'd really love to learn your name."

Sayuri bowed low to the other. "This unworthy one is Sayuri-Sama. I am most honored to make the acquaintance of one such as yourself. And I am truly unworthy, for I have caused my own discomfort" He paused, then sighed slowly. "I have lost a possession of both great personal value and great personal need, for without it, I have nothing."
He lowered his eyes, ashamed. A fan dancer without a fan! What good was he? He didn't wish to admit it, what he had lost, for the shame overwhelmed him. And that fan... It had been given to him by his very mother! How was he to manage? She had been a great Fan Dancer, teaching him all she knew, and he lost the fan she'd used to perform for the kings of the sea!

Mercury couldn't help the confused little look that inched its way across his face this time as the pink little koi bowed to him. No one had ever done that before!
"Oh hey hey! You don't need to do that, really.. It's not like I'm important in the slightest.." And with that, from his upside down position in the water, he reached down to stroke his fingers over the koi's darkly colourful hair.
"Nothing..? Okay, what was it that you lost? I hope it's not your soul, because.. Well, that would be pretty hard to find, huh?" He grinned, pushing himself down a little more so he was level with Sayuri once again, righting himself. "Whatever it is, I'm sure it'll quickly come to light once again with the both of us looking for it! How does that sound..?" He made an attempt to reach around the koi's fan substitute to tilt up his chin with his fingertips.

Sayuri blushed, surprised, at the contact, for he truly wasn't used to being touched, really. He was used to keeping others back, for as a fan dancer, it was easier, generally. It had, occasionally, however, occurred to him that his mother's edict on that subject might be misleading, for he existed, and surely that meant she'd allowed some one close enough! Still, he was nervous, and shy. And... not need to do that? A little confusion crossed his own face. "Surely, this unworthy one does, for it is a sign of respect, and respect is owed to all that I meet." He peered up at the other in confusion through his lashes.
When Mercury's finger lifts his chin, he flushes deeper. "I... ah..." He looks confused and nervous for a moment, then a mask slips into place. Well, he must perform, at some level, for surely he didn't know this person. "My fan. I lost my fan. And what am I without my fan, that my mother gave me? She danced with it for the kings, and I am not so good as she, but it is her fan, and I am a fan dancer... Without it, I am useless, and unworthy indeed."

It took more will-power than he thought it would to resist telling the little koi that he looked so so cute when he was blushing as much as he was with that shy little look in his eyes.. SO much will-power indeed, but for the time being he managed to resist, his lips quirking just a little more in response.
"A fan..? Man that would be a little hard to find on your own, wouldn't it.. The lake is pretty big after all.." He let his hand slip away from where it was cradling the kois chin to gently clasp his hand instead, giving him the gentlest of tugs, "So we'd better start looking, huh? Where abouts were you when you thought you dropped it?" He asked, swimming backwards to he could peer back at Sayuri as he led his down towards the bottom of the waters.

Sayuri blushed more and whispered shyly "I'm not sure were I was... I know I went along this way yesterday and this was the last place I remember having it... I've retraced all my steps since yesterday..." He nodded. "I went along here to the entrance to my home..." He looks around, and starts at a flash of color, then sighs, seeing it was just a fish.
