Heard It Through The Grape Vine... ProfileFull "OC" Name-- Raleigh Dunstin Cure**
Some who know him call him-- Raleigh or Rae
Temper-- Novel (adjective)
Of a new kind; different from anything seen or known before: a novel idea.
Breed-- Mobility Blight + (pin 009: "StraightJacket")
Genetics--Edited Half-Uni: 1st Ed. Cosplay (TWEWY), Tribal Edition
Family--Too early yet for a mate or kin. His story is that he was raised by his guardians after his real parents (presumably, a regular and a uni) left under some shady circumstances. His ma and pop are a nice elderly couple who live in seclusion in the mountains. The occasional passerby will be offered a nights stay under their roof and this is where most of Raleigh's social skills and fascination with the outside world originated from. The strangers would entertain the family with stories of their travels in far away lands where life expanded far beyond the imagination of the tiny peculiar-colored uni. Perhaps in an effort to make their child feel as normal as possible, or to just avoid discussing his past all together, Raleigh's true parents and his uni heritage was carefully glossed over by his guardians until his worldly curiosity became too much and he eventually grew old enough to flee the nest and sort the truth out for himself.
Personality-- You'll get to know him through rp, but the here are some basics: Sweet, funny, charming, chatty, unlucky and sometimes clumsy, but resilient. Smart-witted, but eager to put his faith in someone. Believes knowledge is the key to achieving personal fulfillment. Beauty is his most sensitive soft spot.
Aspirations-- Knowledge: Learn how to survive by himself, Learn about death, Learn to communicate with other species, discover other Soquili breeds, Learn about the Kawani lands and its history
Good? Evil? "Meh"? -- Unknown/ TBD. Knowing his real parents have been long gone since he was a foal has left a bit of a void in his heart. He's not sad about it or anything, or he doesn't think he is anyway, but his heart is weak and as a result he completely and totally lets his guard down in front of a beautiful female and subconsciously desires an older male figure to guide him in life. Both instances offer openings for characters from the wrong side of the tracks to push him into the shadows. In order for that to happen, a series of misfortunes must befall him, and this evil like character would be around just in time to pick up the pieces and mold them into something he/she can use to their advantage. They'd either have to condition him slowly into seeing their way as the righteous path, or be extremely unavoidably sexy to him. And while a Femme fatal could easily convince him to do something really treacherous, turning him evil is not necessarily the direction I'm looking to go in with him. I'm just saying he's open to it should the opportunity come along before he gets too old.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Specialness It's up to you how much his Uni abilities or anything else I devise can effect your Soquili, if they do at all. It's mostly here to add interest to his plots
Luck-- He's lucky. Or, a better description would be that he carries luck with him, mildly increasing the odds that his cohorts will not fall off a cliff or be mauled by angry wasps. It's more of a protective bonus then a "gift of gain", per say. The luck he carries almost exclusively affects those in his immediate area, and never himself. ICly it is not an ability he is easily recognized for. It could be that in the case of being in a group, him being the only one mauled by angry wasps and the others miraculously managing to flee unscathed is seen more as his misfortune then any "hidden luck-aura" in action.
Healing-- Okay, so he's a Unicorn, or at least a half-unicorn. So he has the gift of healing. His upbringing in the mountains gave him many eclectic views on things, including his own racial history. Being from a very hospitable home, his guardians would allow Soquili and other creatures from all walks of life to spend a night or two under their roof when the weather conditions made it difficult for passing travelers to continue across the mountain. He's heard many tall tales about what Soquili like him are and where they come from, some only partially true, others pure fantasy, or even nightmare. It's hard to say what he thinks exactly about what he is, but no matter what the current hypothesis may be, he has been told many times not to trust the word of strangers. Even if he had been told he was a healer, he's probably also been told that unis are blood sucking vampires, or that he's the last of dieing breed, a blasphemous product of a rhino and horse, a wingless angel, his horn is a cancerous leech slowly sucking his life force....you get the idea. So much what he's heard he takes with a grain of salt. But the rumors have served to feed his desire to find the truth all the more.
For the sake of current rp though, he doesn't know his appearance signifies anything more then culture he came from. He is curious about where and who he came from, but cannot know that there is anything particularly gifted or powerful about him. I'd appreciate it if ICly the Soquili he meets do not inform him in any detail about his breed. No comments about healing until I get him into a special plot where that part of his past will be revealed to him. Though I'm sure of it were brought up he'd find it hard to believe, considering how many different versions he's learned over the years, but I'd rather not put it in his everyday rps at all until I get that big "This is who you are"-plot rolling along. I will be able to provide more detail about the specifics and limitations of this healing power when the rp comes about. So in conclusion, if you have any curious Soquili who happen to know a lot about breeds and would see no problem walking up to a strange uni and asking all kinds of personal questions, -- kindly keep them away for the time being. ಠ_ಠ;;
Stop Right There! -- Pin009 (aka StriaghtJacket) is the item from the game The World Ends With You which Raleigh's design is modeled after. In the game (I guess, I never played) the pin aids in immobilizing a target which is further indicated by the vine design shown tattooed on Rae's body. It might be interesting if a very diluted form of this power could be shown in Raleigh. For example being able, in appropriate situations, to stop or slow an attacking force from coming any closer for a brief period of time (a small advantage toward escaping predators/jackasses), or once an attacking force is knocked down, they have an increased likelihood of taking a while to recover themselves, or in rare cases passing out. It will probably not be seen as an ability IC, rather anyone who sees him in a fight would think a) he's a lucky b*****d or b) he has a oddly effective fighting strategy. Obviously there would be no physical manifestation of the power (i.e, his tattoos won't be magically reaching out to strangle anyone into submission xP ). On the topic of self defense, Raleigh is not much of a fighter. But if you are a regular/flutter and posing a threat, he will try to scare you off my jabbing his head toward you (horn= stabby). However if you look strong enough that you may not fear being poked with his rather sensitive horn, he'll attempt to defend himself with traditional horse sparring methods (...use your imagination).~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ PLOTTY MCPLOT What He Could Find
Friends-- While he can be a loner, he also craves social interaction. He has a habit of quickly distancing himself from those he does not click with right away, but he is always searching for individuals worth spending his time. Anyone who doesn't look like they'd jump down his throat or scream, "Let's go to the Banana Cave CHAAARRRLIEE" is a potential interest to him.
Soquili who call him a friend like him for being a good listener, helpful adviser and all-around interesting guy to hold a conversation with. He likes to use his brain so he would make a good companion on adventures that require wits and puzzle solving.As it turns out he can be kind of a twit sometimes, wanting to see and experience everything has it's costs on those who aren't careful. But he has his moments when the planets are aligned just-so. He really can be brilliant. He has been known to be quite humorous, using gentle sarcasm or self deprecating humor to lighten a mood or simply take the edge off his sometimes unorthodox philosophies. When he's not talking your ear off he actually does enjoys just sitting back, listening and observing other creatures and their behavior and could become the Soquili who randomly adds the intellectual food for thought to conversations. He could use some friends who poke fun at his interests in knowledge, but also run to him first for advice.
"Elders"-- I use this term lightly, since what I'm really looking for are Soquili who are world-wise who can help open Rae's eyes to both the truths of Soquili life, and current events going around in the Kawani region. They don't actually have to hold the title of Elder, but they have to know their way around the block, and know how to pick up on subtleties. This role requires a bit of creativity since the Soquili in question will have to be able to add-lib some Kawani history and enrich some already existing facts about the breeds/races that inhabit the area. If Rae meets this Soquili prior to his discovery of healing powers, the "elder" must also see it fitting that Raleigh discover his lineage when the time is right, and not be all, "Cool horn. Heals plz <3 ". That would ruin everything. >_o

Possible Plot Ideas
The Mentor
One day I'd like him to become the apprentice of a powerful Soquili. Whether that Soquili is pure Uni, Angeni, or simply a "gifted" regular is up for speculation. What he will learn, or become under the guidance of this master is still under consideration but due to his intellectual nature, it might have something to do with a much larger meta-plot involving the organization of many Soquili into some kind of special grouping / secret society / or faction. Help with fleshing this idea out always welcome, though I haven't rp'ed him enough to really figure out what direction this will all go in.
Aspirations: Any of his current aspirations listed in his profile could potentially grow into an interesting plot with the right minds. I'd love to throw him in an rp with anyone who is intelligent who might be able to teach him something useful, or anyone who is a different breed than him. <3
Something Else? I need to rp him a little bit more before I can commit to larger plot ideas. For the time being he's open to random encounters or adventures. Feel free to offer up ideas <3
