I dont know. I really dont want to make a judgement before I see the actual product, because I dont think I'm one to judge a book by it's cover.
Evangelion was meant to be a series/manga. It was made for anime. Imfo, no anime should go live action. It ruins whatever integrity the original animated version had. I don't see why people think it's necessary, but whatever the case it happens anyways.
I just really hope they do something decent. Or like, if they were to base it around a certain angel attack or situation.
Then they'd be able to have the cliche, Enemy attacks, reluctant boy hero must save world with the company of a funny yet stern heavy drinking guardian, a silent weird girl, and a loud opinionated b***h. Boy finally saves world, ememy threat is no longer, boy gets the girl, everyone is somewhat happy. The end.

If it ends up with boy getting boy then I'll be happy. WHAT? No, seriously.. I'll agree with Langley. I'll watch it then make judgement. It's going to be hard for them.. they'll have to choose between pleasing the general public or pleasing the fans. I wonder which way they'll go? stare Oh right.. no judgement.. hrmm..

Exactly what girl would Shinji get? Any ending where Asuka's just like "Oh, I give up everything I've ever thought on a whim because Shinji's just so manly" is not my kind of ending. And any ending that ends in incest is just creepy.
Maybe they could base it off the Zeurel fight. That involved all three pilots fighting it and would end with people being able to go "man, that Shinji kicked a**." I'd rather it was based off the Asuka VS Mutant Seagulls fight, but I think that would only please Asuka fangirls and boys (but then everyone could go, "Man, that Asuka was ********' awesome!").
Anyways, I've decided to reserve judgement until I've seen the movie, or at least some details are released. Until then, there's no point in getting worked up over it, really.

Its really difficult to take something thats is supposed to be animated, and turn it into live action. What i dont want it to turn into is another sci fi channel miniseries or original movie....which is what i see it becoming. ANother thing...is im the type of person to get upset if things get a little twisted, which is why i cant see movies based on books after ive read the books....its just impossible to enjoy.....most likely, itll make me mad.

Well, you pretty much know that they're going to have to appeal to all sorts of people. Eva is controversial, as that christian anime forum proved. So in order to be fair and non-offensive, they're going to have to please the masses with their loads of eye candy. I'm sure there will be a few things that only those who have watched the Anime will understand to the fullest extent. But it's going to have to be geared towards a greater target audience, rather than just a closed "eva anime fan only" audience.

for all the people who say " i'll wait till it comes out." this is for news and people who will come randomly in and spam the boards saying how it will suck. we just need a place for this as it will eventually be needed.

An American Hollywood company, in control of a bizarre storyline with bizarre characters and bizarre enemies, must filter out the yawn material and put more emphasis on the giant robots creating explosions. By the way, has anyone ever seen a really good anime based off of American art and direction? Once more, as fans who are poking and proding for more information about this movie, there is not much left to see since the sketches. This is more of a topic to leave in the back of your mind, not in the middle. 2 years is a long time.

Here is my opinion. If it sucks, it sucks. If it rocks, it rocks. But no live action movie can come close to its anime original. And even if it sucks, Evangelion is such a strong anime, it will overcome such a small failure. And thats my opinion.

i see your point. but i have to disagree, if the movie fails the anime as a whole will lose immense potential profit. and will also be looked down upon. you have to remember that christians, which unfortunately make up a majority of this nation hate the anime(i know Ashram, dont bother). so we already have that working against us. all in all weve got alot to prove and an ignorant body to prove it to.
if we succeed im scared. if we fail, well that would be better for the series as a whole

Even if the rest of the movie sucks and it's nothing like the anime, how cool will that be? xd
