As the title says, we are currently accepting applications for newspaper staff. (Please keep in mind that this is a paying job, which means that you get paid for your work 3nodding )

Please read this entire post before applying. smile

All applications should be sent to Blessed_Scribe. All applications that are posted/sent elsewhere will be discarded. If you have any questions, please post them in this thread ONLY.

These are the positions that you can apply for:
Writer - You will be the ones writing the articles for the newspapers.

The Application:
Your age:
Years of writing experience:
Position applying for: Writer
Your areas of knowledge/interest:

Along with this application you should include a sample of your writing. This sample should be at least one paragraph (8-10 sentences) in length. And it should be an article/report on something. If you've already written an article for the guild newspaper, then you don't have to include this with your application, but you do still need to send in the actual application.

Let me explain the application a little bit...
Your age will have no sway in whether or not I'll accept your application. It's just so I know.

For your years of writing experience, I just need to know how much experience you've had with writing reports or research papers; or how much experience you've had with newspapers/newsletters/yearbooks. You can also include any experience you've had with writing (and completing) stories of any sort (short stories, novels, etc). Poetry is not included.

And your areas of knowledge/interest should include a list of subjects that you're familiar with. Such as gemstones, gods, herbs, and so on. It should only include subjects that you have some sort of knowledge in.

Again, all applications should be sent to Blessed_Scribe. All applications that are posted/sent elsewhere will be discarded. mrgreen

Effective immediately: The editors will not allow one writer to write more than two sections a month. We believe that with more writers, we will have more readers, so there is a limit to two sections, unless we ask someone to specifically fill in a writing slot. Thank you for your understanding.

I'd also like to say that we will NOT be adding an advice column ever. That's what the guild is for.

Hi, I have a question before I properly apply.

I've always loved reading the newspaper and I think it's great all the articles you do but I never really felt I could help out much, as I'm still only studying and such, so I thought I'd try the Beginner Section, as it should be too hard to research for or write. I just had to ask of what that would include doing? What sort of basics will I have to cover, etc.

The best I could tell you is to check out the ones from past issues. The June 2008 issue is the first one that has the Beginner's section. smile
