Welcome to the free-for-all RP contest of the youngest eggu of Iris and Enfys! Llia and myself were immensely surprised when Iris and Enfys, both first time parents, laid not one or two or three little bundles of joy, but FIVE, the maximum number of eggus for first time mothers. O.O So...curious as to which shiny in the picture needs a home? It's this lovely little shiny. Still interested? Well then, time to introduce you to the rest of the family, and the herd the family's forming! <333333333333333333 Oh, and conditions, too. This family is actively RPed, as is the herd Iris and Enfys are forming. wink This RP contest ends Saturday, May 2nd, 6pm PDT (7pm MDT, 8pm CDT, 9pm EDT).

You guys apparently want to meet the rest of the family, so here they are. ^^ Enfys is the proud father. He's starting a nomadic bachelor band, with an unofficial attached herd of any mares and foals attached to member stallions. The "official herd" consists of Enfys, Abhyagni, and Tuyet, and the mares following the herd are Iris and Lakshmi...and now there are five little foals to tag along at the herds' heels. Enfys is a quiet, gentle soul, prone to being considered aloof, but he has a good heart deep down, and doesn't like to see anyone left out. He's a wanderer by nature, so forming any strong bonds with anyone or anyplace is hard for him, though he's definitely formed a strong bond with Iris, and will also form a bond with their foals. Despite this gentle personality, Enfys had a dark past, which is one of the reasons Enfys does *not* form strong bonds with those outside his family. There are secrets about his past that he isn't about to tell his family, because he's afraid of losing it now that he's got a family again. His diet is technically that of a Pryrin, a carnivorous kirin, though he chooses to be a Sylrin, a vegan kirin. There is a possibility that at least one of his foals will be a Pryrin, which will prove a surprise to the family.... Iris is the mother. A loner from birth, she grew up in isolation until she met Enfys. She's never known any family before this - and this inexperience could prove a problem in the near future. Very cheerful, cheeky, playful; and sometimes Iris is so blind to others' hurt/offended feelings that her perkiness is abrasive. Like Enfys, she loves colour and would probably be miserable in winter, or in barren landscapes. In an ironic testament to her outer appearance, she's dim-witted. ...And then we have the herd. There are some...interesting...characters in this herd. xd This is Abhyagni. He's one of Enfys' first friends...and the most depressed one, by several miles. Utterly convinced that he's the cause of any and all bad luck, the eggu may likely deal with its "Uncle Abhy" from time to time. Abhyagni believes that he brings bad luck with him, but this is unproven. If Abhy is depression and curses, then the mare determined to be his lady fair (*shot for rhyming*) is Lakshmi, who's hope and fortune. Anytime anyone sees Abhyagni, Lakshmi isn't too far behind, trying to get him out of his depression and lift his spirits, while actively spreading good luck. She really can bring others good luck. Finally, there's Tuyet, the stallion who found Enfys as an orphaned colt and has since become a friend. He won't be with the herd 100% of the time, but he'll be in a certain chunk of the time, giving everyone else good advice and enjoying everyone's company. Still interested in this family? Read the conditions for the contest? Well, then, time for prompts! 8D

Prompts! You've gotten this far, so you must rrrreeeaaallllllyyy want this baby. biggrin
Prompt 1 You're growing up so fast on your mother's milk, and before you know it, it's time to be weaned. You start sniffing at other things, working out what's edible and delicious. What do you pick to munch on? How does it go?
Note: Your mother is probably omnivorous, but your father is a Pryrin who acts like a Sylrin, though it has yet to be revealed to your mother that your father is a Pryrin.
Prompt 2 Some unknown creature attacks the herd one night before you hatch, and though you are unharmed, you hatch far away from the rest of the family. The rest of your family will be desperately searching for you, but that doesn't change the fact that you hatch all alone. How do you respond to being born alone? Do you try to find your family, or do they find you?
Prompt 3 You and your four older siblings (three brothers, one sister) were born into a herd, which comprises of Abhyagni, Tuyet, Lakshmi, and your beloved parents. Tuyet's not around all the time, but he seems pretty nice; Abhyagni and Lakshmi...they're never far apart, and though Lakshmi likes fun and is pretty happy-go-lucky, "Uncle Abhy" is depressed and convinced that he brings nothing but bad luck. How do you deal with him, the most unique and depressed kirin in the herd--bar none?

SO I HEARD YOU LIKE RAINBOWS
Name of Kirin: Hakumele I read your conditions: and sign here in blood Entry: (Prompt 2)
Mother was gone. Father was gone. All gone. The small foal shivered in the morning chill, and looked at the world wide eyed. The sun was still climbing the sky, not yet at the top, and fog clung to the ground and the trees and the small foal, forming small beads of dew on his coat. Hakumele looked around, uncertain, afraid, catching and losing sight of vague shapes in the fog. Monsters. Allies. Friends. Crying out, he hid under one of the larger shell fragments, wanting the voices to come back, the feeling of warmth he always had when he was inside. Always... always until this morning, when it got cold, and he decided to escape, to find the voices.
He was out and the voices were hiding. He peered out from beneath the shell once more and looked around. There, a shape, watching him. All white, just a deeper, stronger white. Fog, but how was he to know? "M-mother?" he squeaked, knowing full well that this shape could not be his mother. No, mother was warm, and she was always there. Not this thing. It had already left.
"Come back!" he called, and tried to stand on his unsteady legs, only to fall once more. But mother was leaving. Father had left. All alone. Angry and frightened, just starting to cry, Hakumele pushed himself back to his feet and tottered off in pursuit of the shape. But it was already gone. And there were a lot of other shapes around. Leaving. Watching from a place he couldn't see. And holding him, trying to hold him, with cold wet hands. Holding him like the egg had held him, but his mother wasn't there to keep him warm.
Shivering harder, Hakumele turned in a small, tight circle and started to walk back towards the egg. That was where it had began, that was the prison that had released him into this unfriendly world. Maybe it had clues, would tell him something about his identity. "Mother!" he cried, and this time he was answered.
"Little one?"
A familiar voice, painful and sad, no longer muffled by the shell. Footsteps behind him now. Hakumele turned and froze with fear at the sight of a dark shape with a red mane, smaller than the trees and not at all like the fog. This shape didn't disappear. Unnatural.
"Uncle? Father?"
The shape paused a few steps away, and Hakumele was grateful. "No," the shape said in that familiar, sad voice, "not father. Or uncle. I have no family... but for you, I suppose, I could be an uncle. Don't cry."
"I'm not crying," Hakumele lied. Not a lie. This water was warm, but the same as the world he had been born in. A world of air and water.
The shape hesitated for a moment, then took a step closer. Hakumele froze as the shape lowered it's head, shaking with fear until the shape, the monster, the one that would not disappear, touched his cheek. Warm, warm almost like mother. And gentle, gentle, taking away the tears, leaving one spot dry, if but for an instant.
"Uncle," Hakumele said softly, "I want mother."
"Of course," Uncle said. "I shall take you to her. Follow me." Uncle turned in small circle and started to walk, barely ahead, pausing every few steps to listen, to turn his head, to look back. Hakumele said nothing, merely rubbed his head against Uncle's red tail to know he was real, this shape that would not disappear. Another warmth coated in fog, in small drops of rain, of dew, of water. The fire that burned brightly in all this fog, the one who would take him to Mother.

SO I HEARD YOU LIKE RAINBOWS
Name of Kirin: Afriel I read your conditions: and sign here in blood Entry: Prompt 2
Awareness came with loud sounds and sudden motion. Even as the egg was taken far from its herd and siblings it began to shake and shudder, the foal within wanting out of the confined space that just moments ago had been a safe secure haven. The motion caused the creature that had stolen it to drop it. The egg rolled downhill coming to a stop finally against the roots of a large tree. Between the drop and the frantic motions of the foal within the egg began to crack a few motions like hops and the egg just shattered to pieces..
The exhausted foal took his first breaths and cried out. In the safe place there had been calming voices, where were they now? He coughed as some of the shard covered his nostrils. "Mother?" he called out remember how the most often heard voice had identified itself.
There was a rustling sound in the nearby bushes and the little one scrambled to his hooves. Like all young things he was shakey but it only took him a couple of tries before he managed his first steps. More sounds in the darkness and the little one tried to run only to fall into the bushes.
"Over here! I heard something!" came a voice vaguely familiar voice.
The foal whimpered as he stood again, bleeding from several cuts caused by his fall. He watched as two shadowy forms examined the remains of his egg. "He can't be far," said another voice this one comfortingly familiar. The lost foal cried out and stumbled forward to the comforting warmth of his mother and was greeted by his relieved parents for the first time. "There there, you're safe now," they said and he knew it to be true.

SO I HEARD YOU LIKE RAINBOWS
Name of Kirin: Ashe I read your conditions: and sign here in blood Entry: Prompt 1
Every day there was less and less milk to be had. Ashe naturally assumed he had eaten too fast, but his stomach still rumbled unpleasantly. When would head back to his mother to see if she was ready for another meal, she would nudge him away. It bothered him.
Licking his lips quietly, he groaned. It was hard not to assume something was wrong. He was still getting bigger but there wasn't enough milk to match. Was he to nibble on grass like his mother and father? For some reason the thought had never really occurred to him before. Sitting in a large patch of the stuff he bent his head over to some long blades nearby and nipped them off quietly. They were reedy, sort of sweet, but next to his mother's milk, not too interesting. Even so, his stomach rumbled horribly at the taste. Finally after chewing for way too long he swallowed. The bitter flavour made him grimace. But he was SO hungry!
Ashe stood, nibbling at more blades, his tongue frustrated by how much effort it took to get them into his mouth. Maybe grass just wasn't his thing. He trotted over to some wildflowers, and took a great mouthful of them. The immediate bitterness made him choke and splutter. He coughed a few petals out, but most of them stuck, and he was forced to swallow them. His stomach lurched, and he shuddered with a wave of nausea. Why on earth did his parents eat such foul things?!
Sighing quietly, his brow furrowed in confusion, he turned to a patch of sweet clover - he knew his mother loved this matter especially. Closing his eyes and wincing, he opened his mouth wide and snapped his jaw shut. A sudden rumbling buzz in his mouth made him bite down. A horrible squishing pop resounded in his mouth. The spurt of warmth, and the flavour, subtle and savory, hit him in just the right way.
"I...ate a bug." He remarked, confused by why he liked a bug far better than grass. His stomach would not be satisfied by one bug, though.
Nosing about in the grass he found a caterpillar. He ate it without hesitating, the slight bitter tang was complimented by a nicely sour-squishy flavor. Whinnying happily, he looked for more bugs to eat. Muzzle in the grass, he let his nose guide him, licking an occasional ant into his mouth. It was then he caught a whiff of something quite pungent. His nostrils flared in excitement. Here was a scent that enticed him. Pushing his way through a juniper bush, he hestiated when he saw what had made his mouth water so.
It was an animal. It was dead, to be sure, and the presence of carrion animals (in this case, a pair of rooks) told him that whatever had killed it had eaten its fill. Ashe hesitated, his mouth watering at the sight of the red, meaty flesh before him. He'd never seen anyone in his herd eat meat. He strained to recall any instance, but couldn't.
But it couldn't be wrong, could it? Certainly, if the rooks were fine eating from the carcass, he'd be just as fine. His stomach finally won him over. Trotting forward he snorted at the rooks to make them back off. Moments later he was tearing flesh from the animal, groaning in ecstasy. He had never tasted anything finer in his life - and it sat in his belly so well. Why on earth would any Kirin eat grass when they could eat meat?

SO I HEARD YOU LIKE RAINBOWS
Name of Kirin: Infrian I read your conditions: and sign here in blood Entry: Prompt 2
Infrian's small, safe world shattered into a million pieces. Perhaps not a million, but the bits of shell that still clung to the newborn foal felt small, light, and list there were a million of them. His eyes opened to look at the world, this large, cold world. Infrian lashed out with a hoof, shattering a still standing part of shell. He looked at his leg, placing on small hoof on the ground.
And he tried to stand. It would have been comic if there was anyone there to see it.
Infrian somehow ended up on his back, a bodies length away from his shell. He looked at it. Looked up. Looked around. Something wasn't right.
He remembered the voices, muffled through the shell that held him. Different voices say things that he didn't really understand. But the voices were nice. And they weren't there. No more voices outside.
Infrian rolled onto his side, tucking his legs under him. Where had the voices gone? A small shutter ran through him. Gigantic things towered around him, things that vanished into the ground and had many arms. Something whispered through the arms, like it was watch him. Laughing at him. Infrian ducked his head down, trying to shrink in on himself. Why was he alone?
He couldn't make sense of this world, and his last one was shattered. He somehow managed to get his hooves under him, managed to stand though his legs shook with the effort. Why had the voices left him to face this world alone?
He took a step and fell, legs just giving out under him. Where was his mothers voice, his father voice? The whispering thing in the many arms above laughed, carrying strange sounds to him. Voices. He knew those voices. Infrian almost called out in pure joy at hearing his fathers voice. Almost.
He closed his mouth over the call before it could escape. Did he want to call out to them? They'd left him alone. Maybe they were just leaving and if he called out, they wouldn't answer. He couldn't hear what they were saying. What if he called out and they just left him here.
He sat staring out into the dark, shivering. The whispering thing tossed his mane about in a friendly manner. Maybe the whispering thing would have a name, would want to be beside him. Wouldn't leave him out alone in the dark with the huge things that didn't move. He wobbled over to one of the huge things, leaning against the rough surface. Maybe they wouldn't leave him alone.
He closed his eyes for a moment, loving the feel of the whispering thing in his mane.
Then something crunched in front of him.
Infrian snapped open his eyes, making his halfway to his feet before he saw a large white and colored shape in front of him, staring down at him.
"I found him!" His father's voice came out of the shape, directed towards the woods and away from Infrian. But he heard it and he knew the voice. Infrian looked up at his father, then too the remains of his egg, then to the woods were the whispering thing was carrying other sounds too him.
He leaned back into the huge, rough, non-moving thing, listened to the whispering thing, and stared up at his father, silent. Betrayed. Alone.

SO I HEARD YOU LIKE RAINBOWS
Name of Kirin:Ixchel: Rainbow Lady I read your conditions:and sign here in blood Entry: Promt 3
Ixchel watched Uncle Abhy and frowned, he was at it again. Always so depressed and Ix just didn't think it fit him at all. That was why she had decided he was to be her project. She just knew there had to be some way to make him not so depressed. So far her plan only consisted to always making sure he wasn't alone at all, since being alone was depressing...at least it was to her. So Ix figured it had to be the same for him and anytime he made to separate himself from the others, Ix would follow and keep him company, chatting at him happily.
Even if he didn't always sound happy to see her, Ix just knew he had to be happier then he had been if he was alone. But that wasn't enough and Ixchel knew it and so now she was trying to find new ways to make him happy. Turning her attention to Lakshmi who was also trying to cheer Uncle Abhy up, Ix had to grin. That was it! If she could get those two together then her uncle wouldn't have any time to be unhappy.
Trotting towards the pair happily, she began to devise her master plan just knowing he was going to be lots happier once she was done with him.

SO I HEARD YOU LIKE RAINBOWS Name of Kirin: Alexander (Alexandra if female) (: I read your conditions: and sign here in blood Entry: Quote: Prompt 1 You're growing up so fast on your mother's milk, and before you know it, it's time to be weaned. Note: Your mother is probably omnivorous, but your father is a Pryrin who acts like a Sylrin, though it has yet to be revealed to your mother that your father is a Pryrin.
The herd was at ease while nibbling at the grasses in the small clearing, but Alexander was ready to try something new. He was tired of the soft grasses and he certainly wasn't going back to his mother's milk. He was not about to be accused of being a flufftail by his siblings. He started out the day's adventure by creeping towards the forest's edge, a bit out of range of the herd. The forest floor was speckled with various fungi, some were even attached to the side of a tree's trunk. Some ivy and clovers surrounded the tree. As the colt bent down for a quick taste, something fluttered up from the ground. The wings were brightly colored and the size of his nose. Alex couldn't help but feel mesmerized as his eyes watched the butterfly. It began flying away and he followed. The butterfly would zig-zag through the trees and Alex trotted along mimicking its movements. Alexander hadn't realized that it had led him back into the clearing closer to his group. He was completely oblivious as he played with his new companion, nipping when it got close and whinnying when he'd miss. "Hey, come back here!" he called to the butterfly. A few of his herd moved out of his way as the young colt traipsed across the grass. He was too oblivious to his surroundings to notice. He was getting closer and closer with each n**, he knew he would get it soon. Alex watched the butterfly stop and hover and took the chance to leap. He pushed off the ground with his back hooves and lunged at the winged insect. His mouth opened wide around the wings and smacked down on his snack as he plowed into something large and familiar. "Oooff..." his mother groaned. She turned to see Alex happy as a clam with a butterfly's wings sticking out of his mouth. "Alexander!" Alex swallowed the bug with a large gulp. "Sorry Mom! I didn't see you, honest!"

How do you deal with him, the most unique and depressed kirin in the herd--bar none? )))
Having hatched many sun circles after her siblings, Astraia was the baby of the family. With her siblings close to being weaned, their parents had taken them on a trip to point out the good food and bad food, while Astraia was left behind with Uncle Abhy. She looked over at the dark adult and sighed. He was so depressing, and his mood always affected her’s when they were together. Normally she’d avoid him by playing with another adult in the herd, but Aunt Lakshmi was off on a rare trip away from Abhy with Uncle Tuyet, she didn't know what they'd left for though. Couldn't they have taken her along? So here she was, stuck alone with the uncle who seemed to prefer leaving her alone with seemingly as much desire as she wanted to leave him to himself. Father had asked for him to watch over her though. After a few awkward minutes, she snorted and trotted over to at least sit with Abhyagni. Mother would not approve of them avoiding each other the entire time. Already she could feel her usually chipper mood diminishing, her head hanging slightly as she fought to hold it up. “Can we pway a game?” She asked softly, knowing full well what the answer would be.
“You do realize that every time you play a game with me you risk getting hurt?” He said in a melancholy voice. “I don’t want your parents upset with me for getting you hurt.”
With a soft sigh, Astraia’s head flopped with finality, chin drooping to her chest as she sat on her rear. So once again, another day of sitting around, depressed. She wished the other adults would get back soon. She didn’t hate Uncle Abhy, but he certainly wasn’t her favorite adult to be with. “Wha’bout a word game?” She asked, grasping to change the monotony of Abhy babysitting day.
Abhyagni’s ears flicked, the most movement he’d done since Astraia had been left in his charge. “That might be okay. What do you do?”
Head lifting slightly, Astraia glanced hopefully at the dark toned male. “Well…. We could pway that human game. ‘I Spy,’ I tink it’s called that. I go first!” The prospect of an actual game was cheering the young foal quickly. “Okay! I spy… somefing bwack!”
The adult cocked his head at Astraia before sighing and looking around. Black? What around here was- He paused and looked down at himself. “Is it me?”
”Yes!” She squeaked happily, further encouraged when Abhy actually cracked a smile. She figured he was smiling at the harmless factor of the game, but hoped it was because he was feeling pleasure. “Okay, your turn!”
They kept this up until Tuyet and Lakshmi returned, and Astraia managed to talk them into joining. They finally stopped when her family returned, the young foal slipping secretly over to Abhyagni and giving his cheek the softest of nuzzles, ignoring the fact that he tensed fearfully, thinking his horn would poke her eye out. She would never forget the day she’d actually had fun with Uncle Abhy.

SO I HEARD YOU LIKE RAINBOWS
Name of Kirin: Balthier I read your conditions: And sign here in blood Entry: prompt 2
Everything was so warm. Warm, dark, and comfortable and then it was ruined. He wasn't even sure what happened really. He was asleep then the ground underneath him began shaking. Muffled voices and cries made him think something was going on, but he wasn't worried. Nothing ever happened in his shell. Then it started. He was being moved. Sounds of scratches and scuffles attacked the outside of his small white home and then the rolling. He hated the rolling! He had no idea which way was up. He was stuck in an endless somersault that just kept going! Just when he thought it was over, the rolling picked up speed again!
THUNK! An aburpt stop made him hit the side of his egg,a crack forming upon impact. Balthier turned himself around and inspected his crack, trying to make sense of what had just happened. He carefully touched it and the black jagged line got bigger. He nosed it and next thing he knew sunlight filtered in. He blinked as the incessant blinding light invaded his home. slowly, his eyes grew accustomed to the glare as he felt his first breeze a whistline noise being produced over the hole in his once whole egg. He was upset and confused. He tried to plug the hole, but it got bigger. The more he tried the more the egg fell apart until it crumbled into a heap of white flakes.
He looked around, a thick large brown thing must have been what stopped the rolling. It was topped with a green that matched the ground he was standing on. He was alone. He took a step forward. "Hello?" He called. The breeze blew past him again, the rustle of the leaves and grass his only reply. "Hello!" Silence. Balthier frowned and tried to stand and move. His egg was broken, what else could he do? His efforts met with little success. His legs wobbled too much! After numerous falls he managed to stand, albiet, not sturdily. His whole concentration now was on moveing forward. He was sure that if he go move, he would be able to find another warm place, like his egg and everything would be better again.
His attemtps at movement produced little achievements. But he wasn't giving up. Too much had happened now. There was no going back. All he knew of home was now in bits under a tree. The voices! He had to find the voices, not the wierd ones from before, but the soothing ones. He felt tired. Everything was so strange outside his egg; he'd never get used to it! he hated it here. His shaky legs gave out and he once again lay against the earth. A sigh escaped his mouth, eyes getting droopy. Wait! something was coming! His head popped up, ears alert and in an attempt to call out to whatever it was made some strange noise. A squeak or cry or something. Massive shapes of white and black decorated with glorious colors calling a name. His name? It was the voices! They were coming towrad him, faster now.
His tiredness forgotten as he once again began the battle against gravity to get to his feet. In his excitement at the voices he fell to the ground even more than before, but it was ok now. They were there as he lifted his head and looked up. They nuzzled him, the soothing voices crooning over him. He knew things were going to be alright now.

Name of Kirin: Noah I read your conditions: sign here in blood Entry: ... comfort, warmth and darkness was all he had ever know growing and maturing in his egg to someday enter the world. It was a sort of death, a rest before life. Survival in this venerable state was completely up to his parents. Even when he hatched to be an infant, grew to be a child and until he became an adult he would desperately needed his parents for; food, protection, knowledge to live and love to make life worth living.
He had grown big under his mother's warmth would soon use his stub of an antler to brake threw the soft shell and meet the world, but that night hungry beasts decided to make easy prey off the mother's precious eggs.
Mother... the body that had bore, warmed him... he could hear her calls of anger and distress as she fought to protect her young. The yelps and yowls of the beasts that meet her hooves and horn. Noah had never heard these sound so they meant little to him... they were strange and unnatural. He felt threatened as his egg was buffeted by his mother's hooves as she tried to monuver between the nest and the battle. Suddenly egg was kicked. Felt himself being spun like a top, left him dizzy and confused as the spinning slowed. Suddenly felt himself being lifted and taken away from his nest.
The predator's hot breath beat heavily on the shell as it fled to get away before the mother had noticed the egg was gone. Could feel the pressure of the monster's teeth against the protective shell that separated him from them. It was odd moving without site or clue of where you were going but just as he had been picken him up the beast stopped and placed him down.
Noah began chipping away at the shell with his horn. Head peaked out, removed his front hooves one by one and attempted to drag the rest of his body out with a heavy heave and a weak "Baa" and fell on his chin near his broken container and shakily sat himself up. The silence, sights, it over whelmed, frightened him. When in doubt cry for help. Noah opened his mouth and baaded like newborns do.
Noah, cried, cried and cried... alone in this senseless place, the warmth that protected him while he grew in the egg was no where around and his stomach was empty. There was no end to his problems!
Suddenly felt a velvety surface run across his soft newborn fur. Looked over his shoulder to see great white dear staring with love and affection at his lost son threw those narrow yellow eyes. Enfy's horn dripped with the blood of the beast that had been crouched in the grass, ready to pounce and kill. Noah blinked expectantly at his father. Enfy licked the top of his son's head and smiled as the infant let out a joyous giggle. Noah was too young to be afraid of the blood on his face or the dangers that loomed in this world or was he the type the that just didn't care.
