What's the diffrence between a a hard reset and soft reset and how do you sofet reset? And why?

Soft reset is turn off and then back on or L+R+A+B i think.
Hard reset=start game over again.(I think)

Say you want a Shiny Giratina. You save in front of of Tina and go into battle. If he is not a shiny, you Soft Reset until you get a shiny Giratina.
Hard resets start the entire game over. Like if you started and got a Piplup with Adamant Nature.

So say I want an egg I bred with a certian nature I can save before it hatches and soft reset ubtill I get it? I have done this in the past when battling Gym leaders to see if mt team is strong enough and if not train some more. I wonder how mant times I'd have to start over to get a shiny. Ohhh eek Shiny.

You can always catch a bunch of dittos with different natures and use them to breed with everstones.
