Remi played idly on his violin as the dusky shades of sunset began to paint the sky. Standing in the alley, he appeared to be alone until one's eyes became accustomed to the dark and another kitten emerged from the shadows near an overturned trashcan. The two shorthairs were sitting in relative peace for the moment, the approaching night calming Remi's usual thirst for mad adventures and the haunting melody quelling Neptune's quiet sarcasm.
The last haunting notes hovered in the air and faded as Neptune pushed himself to his feet. "Happy now?" he asked, but he didn't sound too displeased. "Now we still need to find a place to sleep for the night and it looks like rain's coming."
Remi put down his violin and looked distant for a moment, but at the mention of rain, he snapped back. "We'll find something." he assured the other kitten. "We're Good Guys, and good guys always solve the problem at the last minute."

A laugh could be heard in the distance as two cats play-fought outside Gokinu Warehouse. "I told you I'm fast," Odette giggled, leaping backwards, and avoiding Amaranth's attack.
"It's true. You are getting better," Amaranth replied with a smile. She launched forward again, swinging her kendo stick in the other cats direction. "But you still need more practice." The wooden blade gently made contact with Odette's side. Of course, Amaranth wouldn't use her actual katana on her. This training was just to get Odette used to the battles she might run into in the future; especially if she was so desperate to get into NyanMan. Surely, the cats there would want to test her strength.
Odette groaned. Another loss. Her ears flopped down in sadness. "One more time. Come oooon. I won't get any better without you teaching meee," she pleaded. "No one'll need to come save this princess. I'll be as strong as Wild Cat!" The La Perm took another fighting stance.
Amaranth laughed as she stepped back, readying herself. "Princess IS definitely the word I'd use to describe you. I can't believe you're fighting in a dress. And those platform mary janes... that's gotta be like fighting in high heels....very uncomfortable," she muttered. She was used to her combat-based ninja clothing.
"Ha! It's not hard!" Odette answered happily. She puffed out her chest in enthusiasm, looking as though she had already one the fight. "So there's something I'm better than you at when it comes to battle, fighting in heels!"
"That's something to be proud of?" Amaranth questioned, tilting her head to the side in confusion and wrinkling her nose. She'd never understand Odette. It was like she couldn't decide between being a girly-girl or a tom boy. She paused a moment. "Hey wait.....did you hear something?" the tonkinese questioned.
"No. Like what? I wasn't really paying attention to sounds."
Amaranth bonked her over the head with the kendo stick. "You should ALWAYS be listening. Of course Amaranth, quite obviously had more of a need for listening than Odette did since she couldn't see. But you should use ALL your senses. That's what she'd always said.
Odette protested in complaint. "I know. I know." She did feel bad that her friend was blind. It was secretly another reason she trained. She wanted to get better so she could protect her friend too. But right now, it was the other way around. She was the one being taken care of. She rubbed her head, and moved to hang off Amaranth's arm like a little kid. "Let's go investigate!"
Amaranth nodded in agreement. "Alright, let's go. But we should hurry. It looks like it's going to rain soon."

Remi bounded through the streets, peering into nooks and crannies and pulling out of them with a shake of his head. Neptune followed at a distance, trying to keep up with the energetic violinist. "Hold on!" the brown haired kitten whined. "If you're going to force me to be your sidekick, and least slow down so I can catch up!"
Remi paused for him at last, tapping his foot impatiently. Tintin never had problems with Captain Haddock, it was just his luck that his sidekick would be defective. Playing a few hurried notes on his violin as the American shorthair struggled to bridge the distance, he stopped when the other caught up. "Ready now?" the blonde asked impatiently. "My violin's in danger, if it rains it'll be a calamity!"
Neptune rolled his eyes. "Excuse me for not being part cheetah." he grumbled. "I'm ready, BUT!" He held up a hand as Remi prepared to run again, "We walk." he insisted. "Good guys can walk and still save the day, am I right?"
"I guess." Remi admitted reluctantly. It appeared to be either slow down or lose his sidekick. "But..."
His ears pricked, after learning to pick out notes all his life, the violinist had sensitive ears. "Someone's coming." he hissed. Who? Bad Guys? He pulled Neptune into the nearest trashcan and lifted the lid up a crack to peek out.
"You're sitting on my FACE." said a displeased voice from underneath him in the garbage pail. "Shhhh!" said Remi urgently.

((OMG sorry I took so long! xD; *flails* ))
"It was over this way," Amaranth whispered, slowly rounding the corner, and yet staying in the shadows.
Odette followed, but didn't make any attempt at being cautious. "I didn't hear anything, but if you say you heard-" she began before she found Amaranth's hand over her mouth, holding it shut.
"Shh, not only did I hear it, but now..... I smell it." Amaranth stepped out of the shadows, ears flicked forward, listening all the harder now. A rumble of thunder, closely followed by a flash of light gave a better view of the bandages covering her eyes.
"Smell wha-EEK!" Odette shrieked, as the thunder cracked, and bolt of lightening lit up the sky. "Forget about it. Let's go baaaack," Odette wimpered. "I hate storms. And you know my hair gets even curlier when it gets wet."
Amaranth felt her body tense up. The electricity in the air was getting stronger. She didn't jump, when the giant boom erupted from the sky, she'd been expecting it. The time between the rumblings and the flashes of light was slowly shortening, meaning the storm was closer; nearly upon them even. "Hold on," Amaranth sighed, taking a deep breath. She called out, "Who's there?!"
Odette was hopping up and down behind her, the other cat's tail in her hand. She was starting to pull. "Warehouse. NOW!" she demanded.
Amaranth simply ignored her and waited. She was sure there was SOMETHING out there. Maybe even more than one.

((Sorry this one took so long. XDDD;; ))
Remi looked down at Neptune. "Shhhh!" he hissed as the voices rang out and the thunder roared. The American rolled his eyes. "Oh, for Pete's- Look, get OFF of me!" Standing up suddenly and tipping the trashcan over, Neptune caused the two kittens to tumble out, saying "Hey, whoa, over here! We surrender, we need a place to stay!"
"Surrender?" Remi asked incredulously. Good Guys NEVER surrendered! "No, death first, death first!" he insisted. Neptune rolled his eyes. "Would you rather your violin get wet in the storm?"
Remi's eyes widened. "We surrender!" he proclaimed, clutching his violin tightly to him. Very few things were more important than justice, but Rupert was one of them.

Odette yelped in surprise. She sure was yelling a lot today. But she quickly got over it when she saw what it was. "Oooh new cats!" she said excitedly. "Boys!" ((very nice deduction Odette. xD; /sarcasm))
From what Amaranth could deduce initially, was that they were quite simply a pair of oddballs. One gave the impression that he was a warrior which peaked her interest. Death first before surrendering... It did sound quite honorable, but this stranger sure gave up right away when his violin was threatened. Wait... a violin...? "I KNEW I heard music. It was you then? she questioned." They seemed innocent enough. She moved closer, her body swaying in rhythm as she walked slowly over. "What are your names? Perhaps....perhaps I will provide a place for you to stay."
"Walk now, talk while walking. We'll get wet!" Odette instructed, motioning for the other two cats to get up and join them.

Neptune shrank back as the new cats actually approached, the croak creeping back into his voice, but Remi stood firm. They could take down a couple of girls if they had to. One couldn't even see, it looked like! "My name is Remi Georges." the kitten proclaimed proudly. "And this is my sidekick, Aiden!" He ignored the muttered 'NEPTUNE' that came from behind him and plowed on. "Yeah, that was my violin. I play, you know." he announced proudly, always ready to perform. However, thunder clapped in the distance, and his tail fluffed. Trying to play it cool, he calmed himself down. Good Guys weren't afraid of thunder, after all. "I can play for you if you give us a place to stay for the night." he said, following Odette as fast as he could. "And Aiden can... Uh..." What COULD Aiden do? "He can listen." Remi finished lamely. Sidekicks made good guys look cool, but they sure weren't very useful.

"Hmm, music would be nice," Amaranth replied. "I don't get to hear it very often. Not unless... humans are around," she muttered, slightly disgusted. "They're generally the only ones I've heard playing it."
Odette was a little surprised at Amaranth. She wondered why she had so willingly agreed to let the others stay. Was it really because of the music? Sure, Amaranth never took her hearing for granted; she respected it, even called talents like music 'unique gifts' and 'beauty for the ears rather than beauty for the eyes'. She was greatly appreciative of such things. But when it came to territory, she usually wanted to get to know new cats a lot more before she offered them space-though it may have just been a front, she was rather leniant with who she let stay now that Odette thought about it. Maybe she secretly DOES get lonely sometimes despite what she tells me. Odette thought.
"Alright. Remi. And...Neptune?" Amaranth questioned. She had heard the other grumble about being called 'Aiden', and so she would most likely call him cat whatever he preferred to be called. Surely he had a good reason. "My name is Amaranth. I'm a master of the Gokinu Warehouse. That's where you'll be staying if you want shelter around here You can play us music if you like... and your friend....he can listen... yes." She said that last bit with a curious smile. Apparently, to her, 'listening' was just as good. ((yay for hearing! xD; ))
Odette nodded. "And my name is Odette. I don't really have a territory yet. I'm aiming for NyanMan to look for WildCat's collar," she said proudly. "But in the meantime I stay here with Amaranth, and train. The Gokinu is a really nice place though. The temperature is always just right, and it's great for getting out of rain like this," she replied, trying to keep calm despite the coming storm. She quicked her pace a little, hoping the others would hurry as well.
Amaranth moved to follow at a quicker speed. "It's not far from this point. We better hurry."
Just down another alley, and around the corner was a large empty lot with a big building resting on it. A few cats could be seen scurrying inside from the rain that was to come.
"Hey, Amaranth is back!" some shouted and a few heads popped up from various openings to look outside. ((just some random cats. xD at the moment, I think she's the only master here. So suppose she runs the pace.
ooc Amaranth: I am Queen. >D ))
"This way please." Amaranth gave a wave to the other cats while guiding the newcomers inside just as it was beginning to sprinkle.
Odette clung to her extremely curly tail like it would 'poof' out at any second. Once she had gotten inside, she immediately began grooming it.
((sorry I kinda rushed them along. xD oh well. Odette doesn't want to get wet. xD I can't imagine what a wet Perma is like.
ooc Odette: Not Pretty! Dx ))

Remi rushed into the warehouse as it began to drizzle, then stood tall and got a good look around, peering into all the shadows with a proper adventuring spirit. The place looked dry enough, but he moved carefully. Everyone knew Bad Guys liked hanging out in warehouses, after all.
Neptune followed somewhat less assuredly than Remi did. He felt a stab of envy, they had just gotten to this strange place and already the violinist looked perfectly at home. The American was still nervous, glacing back and forth at the strange cats and the strange scenery. What kind of cat would offer them shelter just for a tune? He hoped Remi knew what he was doing.

"Well then, here we are," Amaranth announced just as another loud crash of thunder sounded, the rain began to come down harder than before. The wind had picked up, and could be heard whistling outside. They had made it inside just in time before the downpour.
The Tonkinese called out, and asked if all the windows, and other 'entrances' had been sealed shut so they didn't open during the storm.
"Yes Miss!" others called back, as if dutiful subjects, obeying their queen. Truthfully it had been them that rescued Amaranth long ago. But she had surpassed many of them with her skills, which had earned her the title 'Master'.
She was quite respected throughout the place. Her intention had never been to be in control, but she really didn't mind 'mothering' to other cats that needed help as she once had. On the exterior she might seem cold to others, but she had a secret soft spot for particular cats in certain situations, which she tried to hide. But after hanging around her enough, she could be just as friendly with you as she was with Odette.
"You guys can make yourselves comfortable in here," Odette smiled, noticing that Neptune seemed a little anxious. "There's scraps of fabric, towels, and all kinds of stuff lying around. Even some food. Mostly fish that Amaranth went and caught for everybody." She leaned over and whispered the last bit, "I'm beginning to think she's actually one big softy."
"I heard that!" Amaranth threatened, waving a fist in Odette's direction.
Apparently Odette didn't take her seriously, because she simply laughed, and continued attempting to fix her hair. "So what brings you out here to this neck ok the woods?" she asked casually, trying to start a conversation.
Amaranth hopped onto an empty crate, and sat down. She was rather glad they had stumbled across a musician. How lucky. Maybe Odette was right, she thought to herself. Maybe I am growing soft. Or is it simply because of my disability that I give in so easily to things I like....like music, she wondered. Before I met Odette I wouldn't talk to hardly anyone at all except the cats I trained with, and Siam of course. Siam had become someone Amaranth respected, and looked up to. Her hatred of humans had stemmed from a situation similar to her own. ((dunno if u read the manga? xD ))
She leaned back, tossing the kendo stick to the side, and waited to hear a response to Odette's question, before she would ask any of her own, or requested a song. After all, a song had been part of their deal. Perhaps if Remi was any good, and also a cat she thought was worthy, she could persuade him to stick around; and his sidekick too of course. Neptune did seem a little more... how could she put it.... 'normal' than the other? Plus the more the merrier, right?

Remi looked around appreciatively, the warehouse was warm and dry, and there were a lot of other cats to admire how heroic he was. Despite the fact that warehouses had bad guys, it seemed okay so far, and he did need a dry place to stay and make sure his violin was safe. The kitten nodded at Amaranth and Odette and went off to grab a towl and wipe off the few raindrops that had hit his violin.
Since it seemed like Remi wasn't going to answer any questions when his violin's well being had to be dealt with, Neptune looked nervously over at Odette. "Th-thanks..." he muttered. "I'm here because R-remi is." He gave a nervous laugh. "H-he's the l-leader." Looking miserably at the ground, he asked "You?"
At that moment though, Remi finished cleaning off the instrument, and stood up, posing himself to play. Starting with one long, dramatic note, his bow soon flew over the strings, creating a melody out of nothing that lingered in the air, triumphant and self assured, the kitten personified in song. His personality twanged in the notes, the complete and total vindication soaked in every moment of the wild tune.
Neptune listened, Remi had played something like it before, but the cat never seemed to play exactly the same song twice. Though he would brag about his perfect musical memory, Neptune was a more careful cat and could hear the alterations Remi made, alterations that he'd bet were accidental if he were a betting man. But he enjoyed the song and listened soundlessly. he liked music. No one expected you to talk when it was happening.
