Czarina opened the door into the cozy home. She walked in and stretched. Although it wasn't too far from the festivities they attended that day, the sun seemed to have sped up and rushed down the sky to make room for the blanket of night. Walking into the house, she turned on the light, illuminating the room with a familiar, yellow glow. Czarina walked in, followed by Zaylin, who had suddenly gotten quiet.
"What's wrong?" Czarina asked her twin, feeling a little detached. Even though she didn't show it, she loved her brother very much. Whenever he didn't speak to her or didn't act like himself, she always felt the need to speak up for him or wondered what had made him replace the usual comfortable connection with a cold silence.
"I...I feel like a lot of the people..." Zaylin started. He couldn't bring himself to say the rest, knowing that Czarina would give him the speech over again.
"Is it about what Misa said about your eye...?" Czarina asked. She had already figured something would happen, but she didn't think that Zaylin would really feel all too affected. To her displeasure, Zaylin nodded in response to her question. She sighed.
Zaylin slowly cringed a bit, he thought Czarina would whack him lightly like she usually did. But what he didn't see coming was her going to give him a hug. Suddenly being surrounded by warmth, his eyes opened wide in mild shock. He then closed them again and returned the hug.
"I don't know what she'll say when she realizes that it's just something about you, but I want you to remember that the people who don't mind are the people who matter." She said in a low, serious voice. "No one else matters. We're in this together, nothing will change that."
Zaylin swallowed. Even though Czarina seemed to have a lot of friends, she was never able to open up to them completely. Hence, her friendships were usually just external, never deep. They were for hanging out, typically. In fact, Zaylin and to some extent, even Kari, were the only ones who really knew her. These people were the only ones Czarina ever truly felt connected to, and as a result, she was rather protective of them, almost possessive. All that really mattered to her was them.
Himself, on the other hand, usually didn't have many friends at all. Today, that changed, though. Today he met Matt, and that was a big step forward. He wondered just how Czarina would react to that...would she be happy? Maybe, but on the inside she might feel abandoned. Maybe she'd feel jealous? Maybe she'd even start hating Matt for taking Zaylin away from her...?
Zaylin shook his head lightly trying to push that thought to the back of his mind. No way that could happen...after all, Czarina WAS the one who told him to meet new people.
"Y-Yeah...I understand. We'll always stick together." He said, breaking away from his sister. He gave her a big, tired grin. "We'll always have each other." He yawned. "I think I'm getting pretty tired..." He said, rubbing his left eye.
Czarina laughed a little. "You THINK?" She put Zaylin in a headlock. "You can't THINK you're tired, dummy! You either are, or you aren't."
Zaylin protested. "H-Hey! Lemme go!" He laughed, and was glad he had Czarina around to lift his spirits.
She suddenly let him go. "Catch me if you can~!" She called out, running for the stairs. Zaylin smiled. He walked up the stairs, and the lights turned out. He was tired, after all.

Zaylin woke up first. He stretched, with one eye closed. Relaxing his muscles, he looked to his left and stared out. Though the sun was not directly entering the room, it was clear that it was out and about, light dancing lovingly over the grass and flowers outside. He got up, scratching the back of his head a little as he made his way over to the washroom. The house had a much bigger bathroom upstairs than the old Uomatsu residence in the city. For this, Zaylin was a little glad. As the twins grew older, they needed more space to deal with their own personal hygiene and such.
He squeezed some toothpaste onto a blue-handled brush, and then got to cleaning his teeth. He stared at himself in the mirror absent-mindedly. A lazy pair of gold and a green eye stared back at him. He sighed, moving out of the bathroom to his sister's room.
Czarina, not unlike most days, was sprawled over the entirety of her bed, her blanket in a complete disarray. Her face was partially buried into one of her pillows, a mass of green hair just as messy as her blanket. Zaylin shook her shoulder slightly, to which she did not respond. He chuckled slightly, deciding that he needed to spit out the toothpaste before it dripped out of his mouth onto the floor or anything else in the house.
He washed his face, and then ran his hands through his hair a little--just enough to make it set neatly. He went back to his room, and got out a new change of clothes. Some casual jeans, and a clean white T-Shirt.
He headed back to Czarina's room, and nudged her again. "Get up, Czar. Show me where the General Store is today." He said when she finally reacted to his methods of waking up. She nodded groggily, and then got up (stumbled) and made her way to the washroom to take a quick shower.
Zaylin went to the kitchen to get some breakfast cooked. He opened up the fridge, finding that although there was still food, a trip to the store was definitely needed. He grabbed the carton of eggs, some green onions, and a small lump of ham that he would chop up. He was about to close the door again, but then realized that he had forgotten one more thing: cheese.
He set off to cooking, hearing the water turn on as Czarina started to shower. He put the vegetables into the pan first, then turned down the heat a bit as he left them in so that he could whisk the eggs as they slowly cooked. Then he chopped up the ham, and added those in too. Finally, he added in the eggs. A wonderful aroma wafted through the house as he cooked the omlette. Zaylin heard the water shut off as Czarina finished her shower. He grinned a bit, it was a little funny how he always showered in the evening and she always showered in the morning. He supposed it worked out better that way. He dished out the omlette into equal parts, onto two plates. He set the table, and then got himself a drink of milk.
"Ahh~!" Czarina exclaimed as she came down the stairs in a new change of clothing and wet hair. She had a towel around her shoulders, and used one end to continue drying her hair. She looked at the breakfast layed out for the two of them, and her eyes grew even bigger, her nostrils flaring as she greedily took in the scent. Zaylin laughed lightly. Before he could do anything else, Czarina had already dug into the meal and was half finished.
"Man, Zay, I don't know how we'd be able to survive if you didn't know how to cook." She said, her mouth full. Zaylin grinned widely. He was always pleased whenever he made Czarina (or anyone else important to him, for that matter) happy. He sat down to start eating his own portion.
"You're gonna take me to the General Store today, right?" He inquired, knowing that Czarina probably wouldn't be able to remember what he said earlier that morning. She thought a bit, and shrugged.
"Sure? If you want." She said, taking the last bite of the omlette. At times, Zaylin was worried that she'd choke on her food one day.
"The fridge needs to be restocked." He said, rushing to finish his meal too. He took a gulp of milk as he watched Czarina get up and hastily dry her hair. No matter how messily she got her hair ready, it always seemed to look fine when she was out and about.
"Yep, let's go. Lemme get my hat first, though. It's not too far, which is pretty good I must say." She disappeared up the stairs again, grabbing her signature hat. Zaylin went to put the dishes away. When she came down the stairs again, the two left, locking the door after them.
