South Bottom The southern side of the river bank is moist and shady, where many large bottomland hardwoods can be found. Some spots on the trail can be a little muddy, so keep watch! This bank has a very gentle slope in most places, and even dips back down a little as you approach the Glen. Watch out for squelchy sandy muck; some people have speculated that there might be quicksand mixed into some of the swampier places. You wouldn't want to be the one to proove them right! ((continued from the glen, that explains the shortness...))
She looked over her shoulder "weird!" she said to herself. She wasn't one to dwell on stuff like that for long, so she continued down the trail of what she now knew was the south bank. It wasn't long before the path started getting more muddy. On several occasions, Taroshi felt herself lose balance, but somehow managed to steady herself. "The next long stick I find, I'll dub walking stick" she muttered. It wasn't long until her luck ran out. She came to a particualy muddy patch, she slipped and she fell, right on her behind. "AAAAH" she screamed followed by a BUMP and an "ouch...". She sat there for a while thinking "oh well... this isn't the worst place to sit. Sure, it's muddy and dirty, but there are no evil spiders or deer...."

"Oh no! Not again! Lady, are you alright?" A small frantic voice rang out from the nearby shrubbery where Taroshi had landed, and a tiny pink-haired head popped out of the middle of a spicebush. She looked terribly distraught. The slick mud coated the slope Taroshi had just slid down, globs of the stuff littering the ground around her.

Taroshi gave a small shriek and jumped back, or rather tried to jump back, only resulting in her landing hard on her behind, again. She had been thinking about her situation when all of a sudden this little pink... 'thing' jumped out of nowhere and scared her half to death. Taroshi regained her senses, and seeing a look of terror being mirror on the little pink sprite's face - Taroshi had figured that this was indeed a sprite, and a plant sprite at that - she hurridly said "oh, I'm sorry if I scared you" the sprite seemed to relax a bit at this "but you gave me an awful shock there!" Taroshi smiled but the smile was soon replaced with the face of a thinking "Wait... did you just say 'not again'?" she said, adding pressure to the again. She tried to stand up once more, but failed miserably. Giving the sprite an apolegic smile she asked "uhm.. is it possible that you might know how I can get up from here? It seems to me that the harder I try, the more muddy I become, resulting in it becoming harder for me to get up"

The little sprite frowned. "No, not how to get up...but please don't leave! We need help, and Kitten won't wake up! Will you please come?" The little sprite seemed frantic to get Taroshi to follow her, every appendage twitching as she anxiously glanced down the river bank. "It's just down there a ways...not too far!"

Taroshi frowned "did you just say... kitten? You mean... The Kitten that's missing?!" her eyes widened in realization "then you must be... GOD I'm SO stupid!!!" she punished herself "I should have realized it the moment I saw you! You must be the sprite of Kitten's orchid!" yet another thing dawned on Taroshi "She is hurt? Oh, god! Just... hold on a second, I just remembered... I have my backpack!! I should have the items I need to get out of here!"
She opened her bag and trashed around for a bit before she found what she was looking for. "AHA!" she exclaimed, pulling out the robe and the pocket knife she had brought along. An old trunk stood not far from where she was sitting. She quickly fastened the rope to the knife and took aim. The knife flew through the air, but missed it's target. This reapeated over and over again until she finally hit bulls-eye. Making sure the robe was securely fastened, Taroshi started pulling her way out of the mud.
It had taken her no more than 15 minutes, but she felt like she had been at it for hours, maybe even days. Getting her breath back she stood up, offered the pink sprite a lift on her shoulder and said "lead the way, captain!"
After a short walk she saw a bundle huddled together near the river-bank. "Kitten? Oh my god! Kitten, is that you?!"
((I suppose Kitten and/or Songjewel has to take over here...?))

Pink hopped down from Taroshi's shoulder and crawled over to Kitten. The girl was laying on the ground, looking very pale, and unconscious. One of her legs was visibly swollen underneath her pant leg; the boot from that foot was on the ground beside her and her socked ankle sticking out was twice the size it should have been.
"She went to sleep and won't wake up! I've tried lots of things...but I can't get her to. I don't knwo what else to do!"
Just then a voice crackled over the radio Taroshi carried.
~~"Hey searchers, this is Songjewel. How is everybody doing? I'd like you all to radio in and let me know you're okay."~~

Taroshi started to panic "Oh god, Oh god, oh god, oh god!" she shook herself before she scared the sprite into thinking that she couldn't help. She could help! Just then, she heard Songjewels voice on the radio. "I'm so stupid! Thats what I should have done in the first place!!!" She grabbed her radio, and started speaking
~~This is Taroshi! I have just found Kitten and Pale Grasspink! Kitten is hurt and unconscious! We need help! We are at the south bottom, by the river! It looks like she did something to her ankle, I think something bit her!! Hurry! I'll stay here and wait. Over!~~

~~"...Taroshi, calm down. I can barely understand you, you're talking so fast. If she's unconscious, then the best thing you can do right now is make sure she stays breathing, okay? That is what I need you to focus on right now. I will have people down there right away to get you; How exactly did you get to where you are? I need to know where along the river you found her."~~

Taking a deep breath Taroshi replied
~~I went from the orchard into the glen, and then I continued from glen towards the south bottom. I was going west over. I think it took me 20-30 minutes to get her. Over~~
She quickly took the thermal blanket from her bag, she had debated against bringing it, but she was really glad that she had now! She wrapped Kitten in the blanket, with a sprite as security camera, and evaluated the situation. Kitten was hurt, obviously. She was still breathing. It looked like she had damaged her leg badly, wait, was that tiny... 'fang' marks she saw? Okay, rephrase that statement, something had bitten her in the leg, perhaps poisoned her. Her breathing was there, but very shallow.
Taroshi did as Songjewel had told her to. She stayed by Kitten's side, making sure she was breathing and hoped that help would arrive... and arrive soon!

25 minutes later...
A commotion could be heard above, up the slope. Once again Taroshi's radio crackled to life.
~~"Taroshi, I'm here...I can see you down on the river bank. I'm going to come down the bank now, so make sure everything is out of the way."~~
Song slid down the bank just above them, one hand gripping young trees to steady her descent. In the other she held a small black box with a handle, and a green-haired, unclothed sprite nestled in her labcoat pocket. As she hit the ground, the sprite hopped out and bounced over to Pink, beginning to talk with her.
Song looked at Taroshi, then at the form of Kitten lying prone on the ground. "Is she still doing okay? I've called an ambulance; a crew should be in here in about 20 minutes."

When she saw Songjewel, Taroshi breathed a sight of relief. Help had arrived, and not a second too soon. Kitten's situation seemed to get worse with every minute. She looked at Songjewel and said "She is still alive, but her breathing sounds like it is getting more pressed by each breath. Her situation is getting worse with every minute" upon hearing that the crew was 20 minutes away she frowned. "20 minutes? I think she just might be able to make it, but you have to help me talk to her, it usually makes people last longer"

"Oh, she'll make it." Song stated confidently. She crouched down next to Kitten, checked her breathing, and made sure her airways were clear. Briefly pulling up her pant leg and examining the bit, she nodded to herself. Then she clicked open the black box.
Inside were 3 things, but Song only removed one before shutting the box. An adrenaline shot.
"You might want to look away," she told the sprites and Taroshi. Then, pulling the clothing and thermal blanket out of the way and exposing Kitten's breastbone, Song brought the shot down hard, injecting the adrenaline into the unconscious girl's heart.
Kitten's body spasmed as her heart rate shot up, involuntarily gasping for breath. Song grabbed one hand and squeezed. If all went well, Kitten should awaken soon.
"Taroshi, you're right, we should keep talking to her. We'll need to make sure she stays awake when she comes too."

Deadly afraid of needles, Taroshi turned away the instant she saw the shadow of one, shaking against her own will. Upon hearing Kitten gasp for breath, Taroshi whipped around, and came to the now waking girl's side, the needle long forgotten. "Come on now Kitten, wake up Kitten! Just hold on a bit longer, help is on it's way!". She looked up at Songjewel silently urging her to talk to Kitten aswell.
Movements caught the corner of her eye, and when she turned around she saw the two sprites huddled together, looking quite scared. She looked at them with a motherly-love in her eyes softly explaining that everything would be alright "Kitten is just about to wake up, she is going to be fine! Songjewel just gave her some... medicine that will help her get better. Don't worry Pink, Kitten is going to be just fine! The ambulance is coming any minute now!"

The green-haired sprite whispered in Pink's ear and gave her a gentle push. Pink edged over to Taneko and climbed up on her shoulder, looking down worriedly at Kitten.
"She says Kitten was feeling lightheaded and thought she'd been bit by something, so she was headed back to the greenhouse to rest and get help. But she slipped down the bank and hit her head on something. Then Pink couldn't wake her, but was too afraid to leave her alone. Apparently she asked a deer to go find help for her, but I guess it didn't work," Phili (the green-haired sprite) quickly explained to Song.
"No, it wouldn't have...I do believe our little friend commissioned Big Dan to deliver her message. Instead he ended up scaring people out of the Orchard." Song smiled a little. "You hear that Kitten? Your sprite braved Big Dan's wrath to ask him to deliver a message for you! You'd better wake up so you can make sure she doesn't do something like that again and get eaten!"
Song looked at her watch. 5 minutes left before the ambulance was supposed to be there...
Kitten's eyelids fluttered momentarily, then lifted groggily.
"Whazafuzza?" she mumbled incoherently, her muscles still twitching.
