Abney Park comes from an era that never was, but one that we
wish had been. An era where airships waged war in the skies,
and corsets and cummerbunds were proper adventuring attire.
They’ve picked up their bad musical habits, scoundrelous
musicians, and anachronistically hybridized instruments from
dozens of locations and eras that they have visited in their travels
and thrown them into one riotous dervish of a performance. Expect
clockwork guitars, belly dancers, flintlock bassists, middleastern
percussion, violent violin, and Tesla powered keyboards blazing
in a post- apocalyptic, swashbuckling, Steampunk musical mayhem.

I'm a fairly recent fan, but definitely hooked now. I first heard them when I was looking at steampunk videos on YouTube and the video for Sleep Isabella came up in the related links.

I see they're based in Seattle too, which is less than an hour away from me. I may have to start tracking them to see when they're playing locally. smile

I love them. My new favourite band!
My favorite songs by them are "Æther Shanty" "The Emperor's Wives" "Victorian Vigilante" and "Building Steam"
I hope to see them live eventually.

Abney Park is what inspired me to write a story about pirates. I absolutely love them.

We just saw them perform last night at a convention, along with Unwoman. We got in early and were sure to get our spots right up front. Abney Park did 20 songs, including two new ones they performed for the first time. Everything was incredible and easily made it one of the best nights of my life. biggrin

After the show, we were able to get a book and convention poster signed by the whole band and I was able to shake Captain Robert's hand. I wasn't gonna leave without doing that. XD

I got to see Captain Robert again this past Saturday in Seattle. He was doing a reading from his book, The Wrath of Fate. We were a little delayed leaving for it and actually walked in right as he finished, but we stuck around for the signing and got to talk with him a couple times. He was wearing one of the new vests they're selling on their site, which was awesome because I wanted to see one in person before actually buying one.

As we were leaving I went over to tell him bye, and I leaned in and told him that I thought my fiancee would like a hug from him. She was about four feet behind me and couldn't hear. I turned and motioned for her to come over, but she just kinda stood there, so I had to give a tug on her arm. He looked at her and said something like, "I've been informed you'd like a hug." and opened his arms. Later that night, she could barely remember what happened and was asking me about it. I think it was too much for her and she had a partial blackout. It was great. rofl

Edit: And it looks like we may be seeing them again in Portland on the 23rd. biggrin
