This has been a subject of debate for years. The churches say no as only God has the right to choose death, however, on the other hand when people commit acts of violence so inhuman do they deserve to live with us?

When somone kills, rapes, or commits similar henous acts the question is brought up, the answer lies within the criminal himself, those kind of acts can be commited without feeling, without thought to who got hurt, frankly they could care less about others or themselves really. So althought it may be a waste of a life that was capable of so much more, the choice is often made beofre the trial occurs by the criminal. You can't reason with people like that.

i am a wiccan so i can't say i'm with the church lol but here is my opinion. i think jails have it too good considering what people do to get in there. but i think death is the easy way out so people who get the death penalty should have to sit in jail for the rest of their lives thinking about what they did to the person and the persons family and to their own family.
"Why do we kill people, who kill people, to show that killing people is worng?" <--- awesome quote that says it all =]

The death penalty is a mad form of punishment. You cannoy counter murder with murder, I feel that the death pentalty only makes murder seem acceptable. Another importent thing to remeber is that people are somtimes found not guilty, when technology advances and finds more DNA, for example. This means that the prisoner can walk free again and re-build his life. Ovbiously this re-building is impossible for the dead, but it can also completely shatter families.

God initiated the death penalty. I think I'll stick with Him on that issue. Why make people continuously suffer by having them pay for this murdering sicko? Plus many times people with life in prison have no qualms about killing another inmate. Should we give them a chance to kill again? I think not. If they didn't think about the family of the person they killed or that person themself, theres a 99.9 percent probability that they never will. And I will state my opinion on another matter here. I say just like Jesus Christ that convicted ***** should be put to death. Jesus said if you harm a little child it would be better for you to tie a millstone(about 2 tons) around your neck and throw yourself in the sea. Harming a child is the most heinous act one can do.They deserve neither mercy nor sympathy. And trust me, if we completely remove the deth penalty, murders will sky rocket beyond belief. Sometimes the threat of their own death is enough to deter them. JMHO
