Now I ask you this in good faith that you won't attack...ha ha. But think about it for a moment. Yes you would loose your "style" but then again there would not be those that dressed ... well how do I say .... unconventional for the school scene. I have had it up to my old (43 years) of these baggy a** pants that serve ...what purpose!!!

So now tell me ... honestly would it really take away from who you are?

It's pretty much well known that kids, pre-teens and teenagers go through a phase that, during which, causes them to feel inadequate towards the rest of the world. I personally think it comes from the sudden fear that proper understanding of 'fading away' brings at those ages, but whatever the case, kids will try to look unique in any way, shape, or form they can. I believe that when schools incorporate the 'uniform' idea onto students, it scares/threatens their sense of uniqueness; being forced to wear the same outfit as everyone else is supposed to reduce 'in-school envy and difference', making it a safer learning environment, as well as a more focused one. The downside to this is that, like I stated above, uniforms threaten student's sense of uniqueness... which then causes confrontations in school indirectly. Some might go as far as to say that you can never make every student dress the same, because there will always be something, some tiny little loophole that students will find which they'll manipulate to try to make themselves unique, or different.

Ultimately, environment plays a part in how students feel about uniforms as well. Kids raised into a violent environment will habitually get into confrontations regardless; single children normally aren't raised into competitive environments, so they normally won't get into confrontations, uniform or not. So what it all boils down to is this, in a sense; I think that the Uniform idea is... just an attempt at controlling an unpredictable factor about students, and thus it is usually ineffective.

i belive that kids should wear what they would like to wear to school, but not make it to "sluttish" or unapprovable for school. kids would not like to wear a uniform i think because its the same boring clothes everyday.

I know that this is a boring teacher-ish point, but I truely belive that kids should wear uniforms. Having gone to a school where I wasn't required to wear uniform for years, the releif of moving to a school with uniform was un-imaginable. Having to pick out an outfit everyday was more stress on a morning (I'm very lazy) but more importently, it was expencive; Jeans don't last nearly as long when you wear them 3 times a week every week, you need different tops and you can't wear things 2 days in a row cause then you look dirty, which is 5 different tops, and maybe 2 or 3 pairs of jenas will just about get you by un-noticed.
The other issue with non-uniform is the fact that people express themselves in the clothes, and this very very often makes certain people a target to others. When I was at school I was very into goth culture and although no-one in my year was, I refused to conform like the little alternative hero I was (hah!). This made me a definate target, not only to students jeers, but the schools perception of what I was/wasn't allowed to wear. It seems silly now, but I felt very sad that the school completely condemmed my dress sence. banning me from wearing fishnet gloves, gherish colours, and was even once told to "not wear so much black".
A uniformed school meant if i wanted I could become totally background, no-one would bat an eyelid at me and I could keep myself to myself if needs be, and I loved it.

well me being the weird person i am i can always see both sides of an opinion unless it's something i have really stronge opinion but usually that's on stupid things, but anyway...
at my school we have them but for all the most rediculous reasons. they say it's to save money and prevent violence and bullying but they don't do either. we have to buy them because they dont call them uniforms they call it a 'dress code' so it just costs more because everyne has to buy 2 different wardrobes. and recently we had our 1st threat. someone was going to bring in guns and knifes like the columbine thing (srry if its mispelled) but luckily he was caught. and most people still get bullyed because they are still in the same cliques an act the same and wear the same color and even though logos are prohibited that doesn't stop people from wearing them. so pretty much its usless, if they would have just inforced the normal dress code that says just dont dress like a slut for school, they wouldn't even need this stupid uniform dresscode policy!
but on the other hand, with uniforms (real ones schools actually pay for) you don't have to worry about what to wear everyday and nobody can make fun of your outfit. A few color options give you some chioces and difference. Plus with a dress code theres no presure to look like everybody else becaus you already do so you can't really get made fun of for your clothing.
unfortunatly for my school, we are very smart, but they use it the worng way. most people figure a way around the dress code just like they did before, so now they are making the dress code stricter so most of us who don't really care but dont meet th enew standards have to buy a 3rd wardrobe and have a bunch of usless clothes we will probably never wear again. so for my idiotic school full of smart students, but idiotic faculty and teachers who still manage to dress lke whores (i dont know how) i think a loose uniform/strict dress code is exactly what we do not need.

I really don't care anymore because I have 9 days left of school but I never really cared because the same crap will still happen either way

Well, here's my opinion. Students should have the optional uniform rule. But once you have so many offenses without the uniform, it should be used as a punishment. Kind of like suspending a student for not abiding by the dress code, only you make them wear the uniform instead. For those who do abide, they should have the option. Is that makin any sense? O.o

i think that using uniforms is soo boring*i use it*but there are two points:
the good one: you don't have to worry about what are you going to wear tomorrow and so on
the bad one:you'll look like everyone and you kida loose your style.
all in all, I like my uniform but I'd love to wear what i want

Uniforms don't change anything, except making somewhat dependent on other factors to make decisions. People will still form cliches, bully, and express themselves in other matters. Because being in a uniform doesn't change physical appearance, economic/social status, and personalities.

i dont think ppl shold have to have a dress code at school because that's just wasting the families money but the schools say it's "for your safety" but it doesnt help keep anyone safe cause any random dude can get clothes just like the school dress code and sew a name onto it and walk right into the school and no one would know the difference. but it doesnt really matter for me cause i go to a school were we dont have a dress code, we can use cell phones/laptops whenever we want, and we have an hour lunch with 10 minute passing periods between each class

A wise and possibly drunk person once said "the clothes make the man".
This statement is - to an extent - true, a school uniform CAN help children focus better on their work better then their casual/street clothes can, why? Idk, possibly beacuse of the phychological aspect and also the enviroment that they work in.
Uniforms don't take away identity as much as you might think, if you think about it for a second, you actually have to work harder to stand out (or whatever) when everyone is wearing the same thing as you, so it's actually an exercise of personality then a mask. Speaking of masks (see what I did there lol) a uniform employed by the school may be better then an outfit made up of name-brand clothing that costs more then you should be paying for anyways.
Side note; I think it's stupid for a guys a** to be hanging out and both pairs of his underwear to be showing underneath all day long, plus girls who put out too much just by the way they dress piss me off.

My Opinion: Uniform at school? ii really hate the idea of us high schoolers wearing uniforms but guess what? .. it's actually isnt that bad. I mean, you dont want to go to your wardrobe deciding on what to wear for tomorrow, then the day after tomorrow, and the day after that .. and so on.. A girl like me, hate it, going to my wardrobe looking for an outfit to wear and to make sure i dont wear the same clothes . sweatdrop that would be an embarrassment. Plus, you dont wanna bug your parents to buy you new clothes cause you dont wanna wear the same ones. Such a waste.

Anyway, ii think wearing school uniforms are much better than not wearing school uniforms cause wearing uniforms you can wear the same outfit everyday but no one laughs at you for wearing the same thing again and again since everyone's wearing it.

I am currently going to a uniform school but when i was younger I went to a non-uniform school. I like uniform schools better I guess but I prefer if they had a wide selection of uniforms so you can choose a style but have a same general theme so that it wouldn't be so plain.
But I would have to say, I prefer non-uniform cause my uniform makes me look sooo un-emo >.<
You can make it look prep but not emo...*sighs*
