Witch Information

Witches as depicted in the Night World series are a matriarchal society bearing a strong resemblance to the neopagan religion of Wicca and to the Goddess movement. They trace their descent to an ancient tribe ruled by Hecate Witch-Queen, and later by her daughter Hellewise Hearth-Woman. All witches are considered to be 'daughters of Hellewise', although the Harman family is direct genetic descendants traced through the female line. Hellewise's sister, Maya, became the first vampire; thus all vampires are descended through Maya from Hecate Witch-Queen.
Witch society is composed of 'Circles' to whom all witches belong. Those who take to heart Hellewise's bidding to 'harm none' belong to Circle Twilight, while Circle Midnight is made up of witches who practice darker magic. The Inner Circle is a coven of the nine most magically talented witches, who are 'the witch geniuses, the prodigies and the sages, the far-seers, the teachers, the policy-makers'. The most important of these are the triad of the Maiden, Mother and Crone.
A third renegade Circle also exists, known as Circle Daybreak, which promotes the teaching of magic to humans and peace between the races. This circle used to exist alongside the other two but was banned due to the persecution of witches during the Burning Times. Circle Daybreak is kept secret from the rest of the Night World, although a few suspect its renewed existence. During the events leading up to the apocalypse, the witches opt to leave the Night World and join Circle Daybreak, as they want to help save the world, whereas the Night World council and most of the vampires want to take over and enslave the other races
Witches practice magic with the aid of herbs, gemstones, effigies and incantations, all of which may be used in a spell; they worship the Goddess in her many manifestations, celebrate Samhain, and probably other festivals on the Wheel of the Year. However their magic is innate and does not always require external aids, although these can accentuate their power, Human psychics in the series are "lost witches" who are unaware of their true descent.
Identifying symbols for the witches are the black dahlia and the crescent moon with three stars.

Werewolf Information
Werewolves are described as wolves that take human form, rather than the reverse. This means that they have animal instincts and urges, even in human form. This is all contrary to traditional werewolf lore where a werewolf is basically a normal person but undergoes an involuntary transformation. Though it is not stated explicitly, it appears that, like vampires, werewolves can be born as such and also be made.
Unlike vampires, werewolves must kill every time they feed because they need to consume organs. Thus, Night World law states that werewolves can only kill and eat animals. In the Night World, werewolves are treated as second-class citizens and are the victims of prejudice and racism. As in traditional werewolf lore, Night World werewolves are harmed by silver.
The symbol for werewolves is a black foxglove.

Personality: Vivienne(Viv) is a very kind person. She cares about all living things. She is always polite, and loves to have friends. She enjoys using her powers to help people, but realizes that she shouldn’t, and only does it sometimes. Viv is a big flirt, and she is very charming.

Background: Vivienne is the last of the Harman family line, she is Blaise Harman’s daughter. It is her duty to carry on the Harman name. Her mother Blaise was never a great mother to her. She was raised for the most part by Blaise’s grandmother, in Las Vegas. She attends the local school, and tries to stay low key. Although that is hard when everyone realizes you are one of the most beautiful people in the school. She hangs out mostly with the other Night World members at the school. Her best friend is Christian.

Talents/Hobbies: Vivienne enjoys chanting and casting circles, and developing her powers. When she is not doing Witchy things, she can be found reading, or writing, she can also be found people watching, because humans fascinate her. She spends a lot of time with Christian.

Adora is a very big flirt, she never has a boyfriend, because many guys like her. A lot of her fans are humans, that she only uses as food. Adora hates Christian’s attitude towards humans, she thinks that they are people, but they are not as high as vampires.

Background: Adora was born in Nevada a year before their parents had to move due to Christian’s mess up. Adora cleans up a lot of Christian’s messes for him, so he doesn’t get into trouble. She still lives with her parents and doesn’t mind it. Her parents are very protective over her because she is the baby in the family. Christian is protective of her, because he is her brother.

Talents/Hobbies: Adora can sing very well, she is very skilled with Telepathy. She loves to play piano, and she enjoys walking at night. She likes to flirt. She loves shopping, and many other girly things.

Background: Leah is part of a large and well-known blood line. Mirliah's have been around for many years, She is also very wealthy and gets mostly want she wants from her parents. Leah is a powerful teen witch. Leah is not an only child, but doesn't know who her older siblings are because they were graduated when she was born.

Talents/Hobbies: Leah likes to sing and flirt with the boys. She also spends a lot of time working with her powerful magic.. She enjoys learning her witchy abilities.

Background: Born in the same town as the King of Hollywood, she takes herself as an actress. She's in the Inner Circle due to her talent of teleporting and creating living forms. She committed to the Inner Circle, even though she prefers sneaking off and having adventures.

Her necklace pulses when there's a Vampire nearby, but unless she's been hired, she'll simply leave that Vampire be.

She left behind her mother, and set out to be a better person. She made her own way through life, and ran into some great people. Just several months after going on her own, she has managed to be well off, by working for the right people. She now lives with Rins in her apartment.

Personality: Maya is the kind of woman who makes sure that things go her way. She sets the standards for her species and makes sure that people stick to the rules she sets. When her rules are broken she deals out harsh punishments without thinking twice about it. Maya's not a very caring person, nor is she immensely kind. She says what she thinks, and does whatever she wants.

Background: When time began, there existed a witch tribe. The twin daughters of the Witch Queen, Hecate, were the leaders of the tribe. Maya and Hellewise were as opposite as night and day. While Hellewise had fair beauty, Maya had dark beauty – chalky white skin and eyes that were constantly changing color, framed by thick black hair.
Maya and Hellewise were both interested in Johann. When Maya found the spell for immortality, she stole four babies from the tribe and drank their blood. The tribe found the bled out bodies of the babies. Hellewise vowed to punish her sister for what she had done. Meanwhile, Maya visited Johann one night. She explained to him that she loved him and wanted to make him immortal like her, so, she ripped his throat and began sucking his blood. Johann (Jo) became the first made Vampire.

When her wings were ripped out, she set out to take revenge on the "good" side for humiliating her in front of her family. Powerful and ruthless, she's the first Sorceress to combine poison with her magic and weapons and is a talented swordswoman.

He turned her into a Vampire a few months after she gave birth to her third child, Rinsa VioLetta Xavier. She killed her husband in front of her older children, Marie & Joseph. They vowed to kill her and she went into hiding. When her husband, Jonathan passed away due to her insistent twins, she took over his place as second chair in the Night Council. Upon her many meetings, she stumbled upon the Time Traveler, Zelia and the two became friends and allies. Erin hopes to shed some light on Rins and help bring the Human World to peace with the Night World...that is, long enough to gain their trust before turning them into creatures of the Night as well. She's close to Maya as well.

The Order accepted the offer in exchange for their services. Spide and Babe agreed. Spide became Rins' best friend. She currently resides in Romania with her twin sister. She's currently in the University and studying. She's enrolled in another University that she's attending for Babe. After their parents were killed, Spide suggested she and Barbara Linena shorten their names. That's how Babe & Spide came to be. She's Rins' friend and had a small crush on Gino once.

Spide agreed to attend for her and she's currently the top student. Babe likes to feel that she's superior to whoever she faces. She's very well versed in martial arts thanks to Daine.

Christian woke to the sound of his alarm clock. He groaned, slapped the snooze button and rolled over. He hated getting up in the mornings, they were his least favorite thing. He reluctantly rolled out of bed, and made his way to the bathroom. He started the water for a shower, and brushed his teeth while he was waiting for it to get warm. After his shower he sat down to watch the news, Christian liked the news. It always told about events that brought down the vermin's population. It put him in a good mood. At seven he sighed, and headed out to his car to go pick up Adora.

Adora waited on the porch of her parents' house tapping her foot impatiently. Christian was always running late. She hated it. She wished she could get to school with enough time to go to her locker, and make it to homeroom on time. She frowned when her watched read 7:05. Then she saw the black Infiniti Coupe pull by her house. She stalked her way to the car and got in. She didn't even glance at Christian. When they arrived at the school she went to her locker, and then to homeroom. She sat in her assigned seat, and waited for homeroom to end.

Christian laughed as his sister stalked away from the car. He got out, and went straight to his locker. When he got there he smirked at Viv, who was standing next to his locker.

Viv smiled as Christian approached. It was very clear he was not in the best of moods. His posture was very tense, and his smile didn't reach his eyes. She sighed and said, "Rough morning?"

"Same as every other. I was a little later getting to Adora today, so she is pissy." He chuckled. He loved messing with his sister. He looked at Viv, "You better get to class." he stated.

Viv nodded, and made her way to her homeroom. When she got there she took her seat, and watched the students around her. In the corner, a couple were in the process of breaking up. Near the front two girls were gossiping, the school dealer was in the back with a crowd around him, and one boy sat in his seat doodling on his paper. Viv loved to watch how the humans acted.

Viv noticed a guy walk in and watch the couple. He began to lick his lips, this made Viv curious. She waved to him, and called, "Hey handsome, Over here!" Then waited to see if he would come over. The way he was staring at the couple made Viv believe he was a vampire, and probably a made vampire, they had more issues with controlling their urges.
