Usually netflix is good to get DVDs from, but I've noticed that most of the Anime DVDs I get from them are very scratched! I wonder if they get more use because they're...well...anime (lol) or if it's just a coincidence...
Maybe people don't care as much about the animematrix as they do about the matrix! crying Sad thought. Or, perhaps, it's an age thing. Some younger people don't care about their things and some do. Those who do you'll never notice had the item...while those who don't leave their scratch. ;-;

It could be people's shitty players but I agree, I think a lot of people figure it's not their DVD so they don't have to take special care of it. My family has gotten other DVD's from NetFlix that are scratched that were not anime, so don't take it personally. 3nodding
I think DVD's just suck. Same with CD's. I like the features but hate the fact they get scratched so easily. I wish they would just do what they did with the PSP and put them in a plastic cover that can be read through a player or something. Just saying.

I only had one problem with something from netflix. It wasn't anime either! And my boyfriend was sent one that was cracked in half. Not anime, but it was a Japanese horror film. Maybe you just have bad luck?
I think people don't take care of the netflix disks because they don't actually belong to the people watching them so they don't care if they scratch or break.

Things like that are why I try not to use netflix, or even any other rental store. It would be my luck to get something so damaged, I couldn't use it. crying

UPDATE!!!
So, I got and played that DVD and it played fine. I think it went too fast for me to understand. I need to ahead and purchase the DVD "The Place Promised in our Early Days" So that I can watch it again. The thing with Anime is that you end up feeling a little like... well, you have to be in the mood. Yama and I watched it in a parking garage. I believe I just need to watch it again.
Oh, but Voices of a Distant Star apparently is at my doorstep waiting to be seen. wink I'm excited to see that again now that I've already seen it once. The manga was fantastic. I was iffy about the anime but I didn't see it the first time with someone I liked. Bottom line. I bet I'll like it better if I see it with Yama. razz
