"Come on Cody, we can't go look through the gift shop now. Why don't we see the animals first and then look through the gift store?" Shadai pleaded, trying to keep the child away from the door. She knew full well what would happen if he went in there when he was this full of energy and in such a grabby mood. And yet, her hold on his one arm was beginning to slip, she had to make a deal before she ended up getting kicked out or paying who knew how much in stuff before they could even begin to look at the animals.

"NO! WANT!" Cody shouted, trying desperately to free himself from his mother's grip and get that red snake plush with the shiny black eyes and skin. He had to have it, it was his favorite color and it was so shiny and glittery. Not only that but it was pretty awesome looking to him.

"Cody, I'll get it for you when we leave if you behave. Deal?" Shadai bargained, feeling like her arm was going to be pulled off by his struggling. Why did the gift store just have to have glass doors? With a grumble and crossing of arms, the toddler ceased his struggling and glared at his mother. Why did she have to make him wait for everything he wanted? He didn't mind waiting, but it was annoying when she used the same trick on him to try and get him to calm down.

Shadai just sighed and shook her head, grabbing a map before leading the still grumbling toddler off to the nearest exhibit; the bird house. Perhaps taking him there would get his mind off the item he seemed to desire to no end.

The birdhouse was well alive with the sound of song and chatter. The air practically ensnared one as birds of every shape, size, and color communicated to one another and, to some degree, the patrons. Having a great deal of funds to expend upon such a popular exhibit, one could practically touch the birds for how close their exhibits seemed beyond the transparent barrier that didn't seem at all there sometimes.

At least, to the eyes of a child it wasn't there. Joining the throng of zoo patrons, a similar family was visiting the exhibit; a father and his two daughters about the same age.

"Belle, Mimosa, look at that one! What do you think it's called?" The query spawned from their guardian and proclaimed father, Eilender. To all appearances he was a great deal more normal than most of Gaia and a great deal more normal than the two girls accompanying him. The older of the two, a small cow child by the name of Belle smiled wide and reached her little hands towards the bird. "It's a wainbow biwdie! Is dat what it's called, Papa?" Turning to her sibling the query continued, "What do you tink it is, Mimosa?" The second child, appearing a great deal like some manner of demon only stared up at the bird with half lidded eyes. It was several minutes before she replied, ". . .Rainbow bird. I like that."

The answer was left to interpretation for the time being, as the man watched the two girls go into a, more or less, sort of conversation before the one paused to watch the new arrivals to the exhibit come in.

Shadai breathed a sigh of relief as they got into the birdhouse and Cody was instantly memorized by all the different colors and birds. His wings fluttered with excitement, watching them soar around and occasionally land on someone's shoulder or head or arm if offered. "Pwetty," he muttered, then noticed two, not wholly human figures out of the corner of his eye.

As the toddler turned and looked, he noticed pale green skin and orange-y tail feathers. Oh how awesome it would be to have a tail like that... Before he could further process looking the two over, a rather colorful bird landed on his head. The toddler just froze, eyes wandering up to look at a red and rather feathery beaked face.

Shadai giggled, wishing she had brought a camera. Cody looked absolutely adorable... And quite surprised at the same time. "It's not going to hurt you Cody," the woman assured, glancing over at what appeared to be a cow child... and child with a demon-angel mix like Cody. 'Another one?' she thought, a bit surprised yet understandable. Tykier was far older than Cody, so the facility must have created a number of others. Question was, how many were there?

"Hi," Cody managed to say, waving to the girls shyly after getting over his initial surprise at such a large bird landing on his head. Yet even he knew how ridiculous he had to look with a bird sitting proudly on his head, as if he had won something.

The greeting was not wasted upon them. Belle turned to face the boy and smiled wide, waving back as she approached. "Hewwo thewe! I'm Belle, and dat's my sistah Mimosa." A gesture was made to the girl who had yet to move, simply staring at the boy with half lidded blue eyes. The fixation of their observation seemed to be focused on the bird before the boy, but drifted down from the brilliant crimson plumage to assess him.

At first glance, she wasn't sure what to think of him. The boy exhibited characteristics of those few she'd caught brief glimpses of in her waking moments at the facility, but what was he? None of these musing were vocalized or even hinted towards. The girl simply had no visible energy to expend on the matter, it seemed. Rather than pursue questions about what manner of demon/angel combination he was, she simply rose a hand slowly and waved a little in return. "`Lo. . .it's a pretty bird on your head."

Eilender had noticed his children venturing away, albeit a short distance and came to investigate. As the children seemed fine, and appeared to have a new, similar friend in some case, he decided it might be beneficial to make an effort as well. A smile played upon his features as he noted the woman who seemed to be the boy's parent. "Hello there, Miss. Lovely exhibit, isn't it? Our children seem to think so at least."

"I'm Cody, nice t' meet you Belle, Mimosa," Cody replied, giggling as the bird shifted on his head and pecked at one of the feathers in his hair. "Thanks... He seems t' like my hair..." he added, glad the bird wasn't trying to remove any of the delicate feathers. They hurt a lot when they were pulled out and he was left feeling weird while missing a feather.

Cody, too, was wondering similar questions about Mimosa. She kinda looked like the children he had seen walking by while he was trapped in a little room off a side hallway. Yet, she didn't look like anything he had seen... Then again, no one ever looked alike except for the scary techs.

Shadai blinked and looked over at the man that she assumed to be the other children's guardian. "Yes it is, and I believe so. At least it's taking his mind off the gift shop," she replied with a smile, muttering the last bit under her breath. Sure she absolutely loved Cody to death, but his constant want for things and occasional tantrum was... irritating. She could only hope this stopped as he got older. "I'm Shadai, nice to meet you," the woman added, glancing at Cody one last time before turning her attention to the other guardian since it looked like the toddler wasn't going to throw a tantrum or get into trouble.

"It's a pleasuwe to meet you, Cody! It's always nice to meet new people, isn't it, Mimosa?" Belle chirruped happily, watching the funny avian as its beak ran over the soft peach pinions. The girl noted the similarity of her sister to the new boy, which brought about the question, "Awe you two welated? Mimosa has feathews to! On hew tail! Though they'we a diffewent colow..."

Unconsciously punctuating her more lively sibling's point, the tail languidly dragged its way across the floor and around infront of Mimosa. The sloth child inclined her head slightly at the question, actually seeming interested. Were any of the children from that place brother and sister at all? They hadn't really explained how it all worked. Querying the boy with but a look, she waited to see how he would respond to such a delicate sort of question.

Eilender bowed a bit before rising. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Shadai. I'm Eilender." The woman's soft utterance caused him to look towards the children as well, smiling a bit sheepishly for how quiet his was. Cody seemed a great deal more lively, that was certain. "He seems like a nice lad. Is this his first time here as well?"

Cody paused and thought the question over for a moment. "I... Don't know. I guess if we from the same parent, then we're half... Uhm... Related?" he questioned. If Mimosa really did have the same virtue, patience, then they would be half-siblings... Wouldn't they? this was all so very confusing.

"I mean... We share same vir... virt... agelic... Angel parent then we would be half-brother and sister... Right? Make sense," he added, stumbling over the new words he had only heard Shadai and Arytiss mention once or twice in the entire two weeks he had been at home with them.

Shadai giggled, instantly liking Eilender. He was so kind and courteous... "Cody is rather nice when he wants to be, and it is his first time. I only wish I had brought my camera, he looks so cute with that bird on his head," she replied, an amused smile crossing her face for a moment.

"So, Eilender, I'm guessing you got one of your children from that facility as well?" Shadai asked, having recognized the demonic and angelic DNA mix in the quieter female toddler.

Mimosa only shrugged. The girl honestly didn't remember much from the facility. She remembered it was cold, lonely, and that she didn't like it there. Even in sleep the facility had been an unwelcoming residence and she was happy to be out of it. Patience had payed off in that endeavor. Mimosa smiled at Cody, pleased he had also gotten out, and felt inclined to inquire about his new station, ". . .Do you like your new home?"

Belle seemed a little confused, but nodded at Cody's explination. "I guess you two shawe a Daddy? Does dis mean you have more dan two?" The little cow girl paused to look up at the woman who was talking to her father, "An a mommy to? Wow, you'we lucky, Cody!"

Eilender chuckled softly and paused to rummage around in his pocket. Like the woman, he to had passed the gift shop and had found they had some cheap little cameras for use. Pulling out the disposable camera he offered it to her. "Here, you can use ours. They told me we can turn in the film at the shop if we use up all the pictures."

The query caused him to nod, confirming their common ground. "Yes, about a week ago. She's the child of Sloth and Patience."

Cody nodded, grinning. "I do, lots of space and hiding places and things to take..." he trailed off, hand brushing absentmindedly against the pocket that hid Shadai's car keys. The woman had yet to realize they were missing...

"Hm? I only have a mummy, not a daddy," Cody said confusedly. Then again, if they shared DNA parent... His head hurt now from thinking so much. "Erg... You like your new home, too, Mimosa?" he asked, trying to change the subject onto something less... confusing.

Shadai grinned and was half tempted to give him a hug. "Really? Thanks! I don't think I could have been able to buy a camera once Cody saw what was inside the shop... Is there any way I can repay you?" she asked, taking the offered camera and taking a moment to figure out how it worked before getting Cody's attention.

"Yes mummy?" he asked, looking at his mother as she called his name. "Smile, please?" Shadai asked, and was instantly rewarded with a huge grin and his wings stretching as far as they could possibly go. Giggling at him showing off so obviously, Shadai snapped the picture and handed the camera back to Eilender as Cody turned his attention back to the two girls. "I owe you a lot for that, Eilender. I thank you," she thanked, smiling happily.

"Oh, so she's patience as well? Cody's patience and greed. Which reminds me, I should probably take my car keys back from him..." Shadai muttered, knowing he probably had taken them earlier when she wasn't looking.

Thinking over it for a few minutes, the girl nodded slowly. The new place she lived was nice, and her family was much more kind than some of the techs. ". . .I like it. . .I get to sleep in nice places, with Bella. . .and Papa." The girl smiled, fond of the times her father would come home and they'd nap on the couch together.

The cow girl didn't question him further about the arrangement in his household and just giggled a bit at her sister's remark. "Mimosa likes to sleep a lot. I'm glad you both got new homes with people ya like!"

Eilender shook his head, taking the camera back and pocketing it again. "It's no trouble, really. You don't owe me anything." The man was amused a great deal by the parent and child duo, who seemed to work well despite the occasional hint at small mishaps.

To the reference of Mimosa he looked pleased, if a little concerned over her pairing. "I think it worked out well, don't you? If anything, we don't have to worry about them waiting for anything. Mimosa tends to sleep if she's anticipating something..." Or any other time she was bored, happy, sad, or otherwise. The man hadn't really seen much emotion from her besides a sort of passive happiness that went by default.

Mimosa actually laughed, very very quietly, at Cody's pose. It wasn't derisive, but she found the sight of him and the bird almost matching expressions to be funny. The avian almost looked to be posing as much as he did. ". . .Cute." Whether or not she meant the bird or the boy was questionable, but she didn't appear as though she were going to say more on the matter.

Cody grinned at the compliment and at the news that Mimosa was happy with her new home as well. "Thank you, and I'm glad you are happy, too, at your home. You like to sleep, Mimosa? Hm... I like collecting things. What do you like doing, Belle?"

Shadai nodded, still thinking she ought to repay him somehow. "Hm, we should probably wander around the zoo together since I'm guessing the children will want to stick together for a while," she thought aloud, having noticed how well the three children were getting along... And Cody's possible refusal to be separated until they left.

"Things did work out rather well. It is true that we don't have to worry, well, you might not. Cody tends to hide or take things when he gets bored," Shadai replied, wondering how much trouble a child of Sloth could possibly get into if all she did was sleep.

Belle didn't have to think about the question too hard. "I like playin house! An I like to gawden, an sweep the floors, and play school with Mimosa. I always have fun when she's awake to play!"

The idea was a good one, and made sense if she wanted to get her pictures at the end. "Splendid idea. There's a reptile house up ahead, if you want to head that way. They have an excellent exhibit of snakes, I hear."

It had worked out well on his end as well, but even he seemed to have some concern. "Mimosa...sleeps. I was worried that she wouldn't wake up when I got her home. She slept all the way from the facility to the house, and didn't wake up for hours after that."

Mimosa, being oblivious to the conversation of the adults, nodded in agreement with her sister. Playing school was always something they enjoyed doing together. ". . .Lots of fun. Belle is a good teacher. . ."

Cody smiled at Belle's enthusiasm, noticing how opposite Mimosa and Belle's personalities seemed to be. And yet, they got along perfectly. "You like doing lots, don't you?" he asked, glancing at his mother as she shifted a bit. That meant they were going to leave the area soon, but he didn't want to leave Belle and Mimosa just yet!

Shadai nodded, knowing she would've been worried too if Cody had slept during that long of a time period. "Well, I suppose their is one slight advantage to that; you know she won't get into too much trouble if all she does is sleep... And the reptile house it is! Come on Cody, we're heading to the Reptile house next with Eilender, Belle and Mimosa," Shadai said, calling out the last bit to Cody.

Upon hearing his mother saying that they would be traveling to the next exhibit with Belle and Mimosa, the toddler instantly brightened. "Reptile house?" he questioned, wondering just what kind of house that would be... In a flash of colors and feathers, the bird on his head suddenly took off as it spotted another perch. It was almost as if the bird knew it had to find another perch since it couldn't come with his current one.

Belle nodded, giggling a little as she nestled in close to her sister. "Of couwse! The mowe you do, the mowe fun you can have. Wight?" The question was echoed, almost in a manner of reply by Mimosa, "Right. . ." Although the girls were twins by no mean, one would be hard pressed to find something they disagreed on, it seemed.

Upon the prompt of the adults that they would be leaving, Mimosa glanced back at the birds and waved a little. ". . .Bye, birdies. . .Gonna see the snakes. . ." Belle waved as well before turning to the adults and grinning wide. "Let's go! I wanna see the wittle snakes!" Her attentions turned to Cody, rallying him to the cause of snake sighting. "The weptile house has lotsa snakes and wizzards, and all sowts of things!"

Eilender enforced this point, nodding as he began to move towards the exit, stopping to wait for them. "There are all sorts of things indeed. Shall we go see them? If we're quick, we may catch a feeding time."

Following their father, the girls started after him, though Mimosa hesitated only to assure their new found friend was there.
