Guardian Odelia A sunny, cheerful meadow that separates Meadow Lake and Whiterock Beach. This is the place to be for critter catchers and collectors, as there is an abundance of flowers, beetles, butterflies, and all sorts of creepy crawlies that live under rocks. A favorite for fawns as well as the young at heart.  The day so far had been pleasantly cool and breezy with no sign of clouds as far as the eyes could see. Ideal weather for exploring and broadening your horizons. This was exactly what one particular Herla was doing. A dark grey male by the name of Hayden was out and about, searching for new and exciting things. He was hoping that perhaps he'd come across some type of obstacle, or something that would cause him an interesting challenge. He wasn't one for the easy laid back lifestyle. He was desperately hoping he'd catch sight of another Herla. Preferably somebody he had never had the pleasure of meeting. Hayden was always in the mood to interact with strangers.
Hayden was taking steps over the grass, towering over it like some kind of monster. At least in his mind he was dominant but when push came to shove he was always more submissive then anything. "Well, well... lookie here," he smoothly spoke as he took notice of a little gofer hole. He pressed the grass into the soft soil with his hooves as he took long strides that seemed a bit rushed. "Hm... lets see if anybody's home." He leaned down and shoved his muzzle into the hole, yelling as loud as his vocals aloud. "Helloooo!" he said with a slight British accent for the fun of it. He pulled his dirt covered nose out of the hole and studied it carefully. No sign of movement. With a discouraged sigh Hayden distanced himself from the burrow and laid down. He hated himself for doing this but there was nothing else to do. Hopefully, some kind of event would take place soon. Something to get him on his feet again.

 "Your going to get bit if you stay like that you know?" a slim purple delta herla commented lightly, whispering steps taking him swiftly through the grass towards the dark grey lump that lay there. It wasnt as if it was hard to spot him, the way he stood out against the back drop. Then again being purple made him insanely easy to see as well.
"Whats the matter? You feeling ill or something, laying there like that.." shen asked with a playful laugh as he came up in front of the other male, lowering his head until he could meet him eye to eye, giving him a slightly goofy grin. It had been a while since he'd done anything exciting, met someone who seemed so new.

Hayden was glaring down at the green blades of grass, Staring hard enough to see the ridges on the plant, before he noticed a startling sudden voice that had caught him off guard. "W-woah, give a guy some warning before you poof out of nowhere like some kind of wacky magician, would ya?" He jokingly spoke of course, letting his blue eyes study the purple Herla. He was so pretty, Hayden couldn't help but feel some sort of attraction to him.
"Ill? Definitely not. I'm as healthy as a ... uh..." he tried to think up something of the top of his head but nothing was coming up. The cogs in his head must have gotten stuck again. "as a jack rabbit?" He smirked at how stupid that came out but thought it was better then just staying silent. When the purple stud came eye to eye with Hayden he couldn't help but pull his head back a little bit from shock. "I'm Hayden..." the grey herla decided it was time that names were exchanged. Even if it were random.

"I happen to enjoy poofing about" he chuckled lightly this one was funny, it was nice to finally meet someone with a sense of humor, he was also glad for some reason to have surprised the herla even just slightly.
"Shen, its nice to meet you hayden" he grinned, moving a bit closer, noticing the dirt across haydens muzzle, completely oblivious to invading the other males space. "Healthy as a jack rabbit? Well theres an expression I havent heard before. You may want to be careful though, sticking your nose into mion holes is dangerous, they tend to bite" shen teased playfully, being bold and licking away a smear of dirt from the bucks face before finally lifting his head. Backing up just enough to give him some space, "What are you doing out here anyways"

Hayden couldn't help but feel himself heating up from the nervousness that this Herla brought to him. It was like he couldn't think straight. "Well, in all honesty I don't mind your random little poof. Finally, it's nice to have somebody to talk to." He listened further, waiting for a name to be given out so Hayden could memorize it and repeat it over and over again in his mind. Then it came out of the purple bucks mouth. Shen. "What a great name. I like it... a lot." He grinned and opened his mouth to further his compliment on the Herla but Shen beat him to it. "Well, I tend to make up a lot of expressions." He took the advice Shen had given him though. Hayden wasn't the sharpest crayon in the box so naturally he had no idea. "Oh, right. Heh, thanks for warning me about that, at least." He took a sharp glance back at the hole and was thankful he wasn't bleeding right now.
When he looked back the purple male was eye to eye again and Hayden felt a warm saliva covered tongue lick at his nose. Hayden hadn't been aware at all of the dirt on his face so he only thought of this as a sign of affection or interest. He let out the goofiest grin possible along with dreamy eyes. "U-uh... w-what am I doing out here?" he stated the question again to make sure he registered it correctly. He stood up with a slight stretch thrown in. "Hm... I was just looking for some fun. And lookie... I found it." He couldn't help but smile as he walked closer to Shen, flirtatiously giving him romantic eyes. Praying in his head that this wouldn't end up frightening the Herla away.

"Thanks, I happen to like it alot too" he laughed, nodding greatfully "No problem, It would be mean of me not to warn you, besides what better way to make a friend right" watching those impossibly wide blue eyes get bigger, realizing that he must have startled hayden once more.
It was adorable this time though, listening to him stammer nervously, ruffling his fur slightly at the new reaction he elicited from the other buck. Was there some deeper interest there? "You, you have doe eyes, did you know that" shen teased lightly picking up on the slight flirting, finding that he actually sort of liked it. He wasnt about to give in so easily though, whether he found hayden cute or not he was going to play it out just to make sure he wasnt making a huge mistake in signals. "Yeah, you certainly did, heh wanna see if you can find some more fun?" his long tail swishing swiftly through the grass.."There's a lake out here, nice and cold and deep, high rocks perched over it..real easy to spot" he grinned eying hayden with a sly look "Rocks that are perfect..for jumping off of. What do you say?" he challenged slightly allowing hayden to move closer as he turned his head slightly, brushing his nose across the other males neck.

Hayden pricked his ears up at the word 'friend'. He let his tongue slip out and wet his lips nervously as his eyes searched the ground for something to keep his attention. "Hm, yes. I see no better way." He smiled bashfully and cleared his throat, trying to snap out of his fantasy. He forced himself to look back into Shen's eyes. Making himself bold for a change. That plan failed as Shen gave either a very nice compliment or a very harsh insult. "O-oh? M-my eyes?" He went dumb for a moment and tried to cross his eyes and look at what the buck had meant. It took less then a second to realize that it was impossible to look at ones own eyes. "Heh," he gave an awkward chuckle, "Well, is that bad?" He questioned the purple stud and looked a bit concerned.
It was to late, the conversation already moved on. To something far more interesting the Hayden's girlie eyes. Leaping off things. Now that's exciting. "Hm, death defying leaps of faith into bone chilling water? Sounds freakin' awesome! Count me in!" His enthusiasm was spilling from his voice as he stood as tall as he could and stretched his neck out eagerly wanting to get an adrenalin rush. All his dare-devil-ness died down as Shen nudged his nose passed Hayden's cheek. Under all that fur he was blushing like mad. "Well, lets get going, ya?" He smirked at the other and leaned in playfully, "lead the way, Shen."

"Hmm..no your eyes are beautiful and blue, definitely not a bad thing hayden" he grinned toothily, excited to see that the other male was willing to play. Actually he seemed eager for it "Well alright then! Chee about time I found someone else to play with, haha..Ya know what? I bet I can race you there" he teased again, tail swishing as he stepped forwards, flicking it across haydens face on purpose "C'mon then lets go" sticking his tongue out at the other male before taking off, swift slim hooves easily finding purchase as he broke into a fast trot, wanting to give hayden a chance to catch on.
He seemed smart, a little day dreamy maybe but defenitely smart. Best of all hayden was exciting, he was fun damn it! Since when had he had a chance to have fun? With all his small traveling about, searching for his place to belong, he hadnt really enjoyed himself much. True he loved the experiences, meeting new people seeing new things, but he'd yet to truly enjoy himself.

Beautiful? Was this Buck being serious. Oh, how Hayden loved a good compliment. It powered his self esteem so very much and left him feeling as grand as a god. "Thank you," he spoke softly with a smile tracing his lips. He listened to Shen talk about it was about time he had somebody else to play with. What? Had this male no friends who would do this kind of thing with him? Of course, Hayden would be more then willing to do anything with this Herla. He seemed so full of life and very kind-hearted. The perfect combination of personalities.
A brush of purple fur over Hayden's nose caused the boy to inhale, inhale, and then release with a loud, "Achoo!" Eyes squint and he takes a moment to shake head from the tingly sensation and Hayden opened his eyes again. "H-hey! You know! Some people consider head starts cheating!" He laughed before bursting out and to catch up with Shen. Of course, he came to soon realize that the purple Herla was taking it slow for him to catch up and this made Hayden feel a bit special for some unusual reason. That didn't mean Hayden had to slow up and stay at Shen's current pace, though. He didn't let up at all, he kept the quickest speed he could generate from his slender legs.

"I dont consider it cheating do you?" shen challenged back, laughing as he watched hayden book it to catch up. Letting out a low whistle when the male started to pass him. "Eh, hey who said you could pass me huh!" he barked grinning despite himself. The rush of the wind and the feel of earth fleet underfoot, it was damned nice. Tail whipping out behind him shen worked to catch up, really quick as he was he more skipped then bounded when he moved, when he ran.
At this pace the lake was coming up fast "Hey look! Think you can make it to the rocks ahead of me" he barked at the other male, giving him a wide toothy grin as he suddenly dashed in front of him.

Hayden was running out of breathe fast, his legs slightly aching from how much energy was put into his burst of speed. "Oh geez.... my lungs." He took deep panting breathes, and yet still he managed a half laugh when Shen asked him that silly question. "I did! I'm like lightnin' fool!" He took long strides and slowed down, this giving his new friend enough time to run past him for the lead. Hayden really needed to learn how to pace himself rather then using all his energy up in the beginning. Yet, still, he was desperately hanging on. Breathing for dear life. He wouldn't give up on this race, he followed Shen closely, or as close as he could, all the way to the rocks. They were coming closer and closer until, they reached them, Hayden was still behind Shen. "Okay, alright..." he heaved and gasped for air. "Y-you win this time!"

Shen slowed as they reached the rocks, panting and huffing, his lungs heaving against his sides as he glanced back at hayden "I, feh I win huh?" was all he managed to say, turning on the male and nudging him "Haha..good race, next time though, you win! Took the breath right outta me making me race you like that.." he groaned glancing between the rock and the lake. Smirking and nudging hayden again "Soo, whos gonna jump first eh?" he purred, taking a moment to just stand there and catch his breath.

Hayden hung his head and panted softly now. He was beginning to regain his energy little by little. Shen had really gave him a run for his money. He hadn't ran like that since who knows when and he was thankful for the exercise it gave him. "Hm..." he responded, seemingly thinking about what they should do. "Well, you know..." he began looking from the rock to the lake trying to make up some kind of plan in his mind it seemed. "We could... both jump in. Together." He grinned and leaned against Shen once again, much like before. He enjoyed every moment they were in contact.
