If it wasn't a beautiful day, Hasaa didn't know what it was. But at the same time, it was a boring day. Should she be grateful for that? Perhaps...Perhaps not. The lioness lived for danger; lived for protecting her pride. And when no danger arose, she had every right to feel bored, didn't she?

The sun was misty-looking, as if a veil was covering it. The lioness gazed up at it, bright eyes wide and mouth in a thin line. It didn't hurt so much to stare at the sun when it was like that...Just the same, she averted her eyes rather quickly. She couldn't have her precious eyes damaged, of course. They were vital tools for aiding her pride.

Along with her eyes, the lioness had other tools. Not just her own physical tools, such as muscles and claws, but she also had...A dhaifu.

Speaking of her dhaifu...

Shifting her position behind the large, rocky mass she was hiding behind, Hasaa cut her eyes and placed them on the black and red cheetah not too far behind her. The creature followed everywhere she went, always emotionless and always doing as she was asked. She was a handy little thing, and had plenty of uses...Including entertainment.

A spark of idea lit the pink female's eyes and she smiled slightly, eyes still wide and poised. "Mara Moja..." she began. "Do you hear something?" she asked, voice sweet and inquisitive, like a child asking her grandmother how she's feeling.

Actually, it was a pleasant day, to Mara Moja. She felt that the dullness of today fit her mood entirely, while being bored was unnatural for her and her master, she didn't feel the need to ponder on the unusual aspects of her master being bored. Without showing her own emotions of enjoyment she took her place behind a large rock, hiding herself from her master entirely and looking off into the distance with the only peace she had had in moons. It felt good... or did it?

Maybe not, or what she thought. She thought she could have had more peace in the matter, though her ears perked up in the slightest way at the movement behind her. Knowing those noises, she slowly roused from her position, acknowledging the voice that called her name.

"What," she paused, voice blank and eyes void of emotion. "am I supposed to hear?" Her master's sweetness wasn't effective on her. Hasaa knew that as well as she did; it was useless trying that tone on the cheetah.

She was sure that no other noises except her master's was present. If anything, she would have known it from her own quiet demean. It didn't take her a second to figure out something.

Her master was trying to entertain herself.

Many a times had Hasaa entertained herself, by telling her dhaifu to do things for her. She sat, blue eyes dull as she stared at her master, awaiting the demands her master was to give her, without any compaint.

She was used to it.

The lioness seized into herself, coiling and lashing her tail around her body, as if preparing herself for imminent danger. Her ears stood tall, eyes wide open, albeit expression rather blank.

"I sense danger..." she murmured in a whispery drawl, never once taking her eyes off the cheetah. "It sounds strange...And feels strange." Abruptly spinning around, Hasaa placed her paws on the top of one of the boulders she was hiding behind and peered out around it, skilled eyes scanning the area. It was completely clear and safe from danger, as far as she could see...Of course...

Mara wouldn't know that.

"I'd rather not leave my post for an idle suspicion of danger. I would, normally, but I have a much better view of the area from this position." she explained. "So I'll send you down merely out of curiosity. That way, we'll both be fulfilling our duties...Take twelve steps forward, Dhaifu."

The lioness never batted an eye when lying to her dhaifu. It was, after all, a usual occurrence. Besides, Hasaa never batted an eye when lying to anyone...

In the back of her mind, barely heard, a voice whispered something: "Here we go again."

If there was something that messed with Mara Moja is was the way her master entertained herself. She wouldn't complain about it, however, her gaze resting up at the lioness with nothing apparent in her stunning blue eyes. Her master's words buzzed in her mind, and she stood up steadily, head down and eyes adrift as she felt her paws work.

One.. two.. three...

She pretty much stopped counting after that, and after she reached her twelfth step she turned back and stared back at her master with a frown on her face. What was her next command going to be?

The black cheetah had no difficulty suppressing a sigh, waiting, seemingly bored.

Something told her today would be a long day.

Hm...What now...?

It was a rather childish came Hasaa was playing. Some might look down upon it, thinking her immature, and others might laugh, feeling that it was best to ruin a dhaifu as much as possible. They were the lowest of the ranks, and species, and were treated as such. Hasaa, unlike some of the other dhaifu masters, did not regularly abuse or fight her cheetah "companion". However, she took pleasure in playing "games" with her; that is, lying to her to get her to do things, just because it was entertaining. Why? She didn't know. But did she really need a reason?

Brows raising as she watched the black and red cheetah trudge the desired number of steps, more plans were forming in the lioness's head. Silly ones, but more things to do; more things to keep entertained. And if anything, it was good for a blotch of black to break up the monotony of her surroundings. It helped her eyes stay sharp and alert to other abnormalities in the coloration of the land.

"Don't face me; twist around." Hasaa ordered lightly, peering over the boulders and swaying her tail behind her. Once the cheetah had turned around, Hasaa paused, staring. "Walk forward more; about five steps." she ordered. She paused again, waiting for the cheetah to move. "See anything?" she called, a yawn slipping from her maw.

What a boring day...

Some would call her 'lucky'- well, those of her rank who were beaten often for their own attitude and personality. Only a few stray scars marked her pretty pelt from being punished. The scars were old, easily seen, and Mara Moja earned them all in the pride. She had her own little story for all of them, stories she made up in her sorrow and depression and emotionless mind that was once happy and adventurous. Other dhaifu of the pride carried many more than she did, actually, and some lions too- but she hardly conversed with these others and kept her distance. She disliked socializing; she only spoke up when someone really deserved her voice.

Which much to her dismay, she always spoke whenever her master ordered her around. She always held respect to other ranks of the pride, even if she may seem sad or down-under-the-weather. "Yes, master," she murmured quietly as she worked her legs again, taking the desired number of steps as Hasaa had commanded.

She didn't even have to survey the area, since she was pretty much looking around anyways. Though, chances were were that she wouldn't have looked around despite her master's commands...

"No," never moving her head, she stared off into the distance. "I do not see anything."

True it was. She didn't see anything but the forests ahead of her.

How mistaken poor, Mara Moja, really was.

"Well then, face me again, Mara Moja." Hasaa commanded sweetly. Her eyes remained wide and her mouth remained thin.

It was good that her dhaifu always fulfilled her duty, no questions asked. She was very near a perfect dhaifu...Though she could never truly be considered perfect. For no cheetah was. But that was simply the way of things. Ways that Hasaa agreed with completely and utterly. But she was content with her dhaifu, most days.

"Take a seat there." she said. She shifted her position, looking out over a boulder on the left instead of on the right. She paused, eying the cheetah. "No, stand again. ...On second thought, sit, facing me just so. That's it, darling Dhaifu." she said, her voice sickeningly-sweet, as always. "You still can't hear anything? I do. Footsteps, I think...Something approaching...We must be on our guard," she explained seriously. But of course, she was just playing.

Then she breathed a little sigh, not feeling as bored, but still not as entertained as she could be. To be the only Ushujaa in that little area was quite uneventful, especially when absolutely nothing was happening anywhere.

Just as that thought passed her mind, something small and black caught Hasaa's eyes. She blinked, eyes widening even more (if that was possible) to see the best she could.

It was black, yes. Like Mara, only darker. It was moving closer...It was in the distance, but it was rushing towards them at a very fast pace, on all fours. It was a large, bulky creature. What was it? Hasaa couldn't tell yet. But it was exciting just the same. Hmm...It was...Getting closer...It...Was...

A forest Gorilla? How delightfully unexpected.

Fore-arms flexing, Hasaa slipped into fighter mode, not taking her eyes off the beast. It almost looked like it was...

"Targeting Mara?" she said, just under her breath and out of ear-shot. "Mara," Hasaa called after a moment, the beast growing ever-closer, no longer a small black dot in the distance, but a growing one. "something is coming right for you." she said plainly. But of course by now, it was like the Little Boy Who Cried "Wolf".

How did she restrain sighs and groans when her master did this? Mara Moja was unsure herself, she was grueling over useless paw steps that proved to do nothing to benefit herself or her master, nonetheless. The pride had picked this lioness overall for her master. They picked a great decision for the cheetah, though maybe if someone else was chosen maybe she would be a little more joyful than her unemotional demean was as of now.

Unfortunately for the sad cheetah she hadn't noticed the beast, a forest gorilla, who was preparing to charge straight at her. Right now was more of a life or death situation if she or Hasaa didn't do anything. However, she took less notice of the beast than a cub would it's mother, and that was the first mistake done.

"Yet, master, I do not see anything coming at me," she spoke calmly as if her life wasn't in danger. "what do you mean?" And she sat down, probably triggering the beast's main attack as it most likely took her position to be threatening.

It did.

And she never saw it coming.

"...Master?" She echoed, not unaware of the situation as her gaze, rarely appearing like so became a gaze of panic and confusion. This was a rare moment for her; she never let her emotions do the best of her.
