April 18 2009: OUTBREAK!!!
Perhaps thanks to the overcrowding of the Weyr, perhaps thanks to it's rain forest environment, or perhaps even thanks to the influx of traders, candidates, and other wanderers who have passed through lately, something terrible has happened.
An outbreak of LICE has begun to spread through the tightly filled Weyr like wildfire, leaving itchy scalps and irritability in it's wake, doing nothing to soothe tense moods in the Weyr.
Weyr-dwellers. Start. Your. Itching.

May 2nd 2009: OVER NINE THOUSAND CANDIDATES
As you may have noticed, there are many, many Candidates in the Weyr, and despite Helirra yelling at the Searchriders not to bring anymore, they just can't help it. How can they deny good dragon material when it presents themselves? They may not be actively going out on Search, but the dragons notice, and they can't just leave them there.
Well, here's the catch: There aren't enough rooms for all these Candidates. The Barracks are getting mighty crowded. Rooms designed to fit two (snugly, at that) are now holding three or four. Are you the one stuck sleeping on the floor? The floor isn't very comfortable at all, is it?

May 13th 2009: GATHER AT ISTA HOLD!
Yes, you heard right, a Gather is in full tilt down at Ista Hold, and there's many a firelizard egg to be won there! With F'sey hosting Dragon Poker, and runner beast races clamoring for attention, it'll be hard to get bored if you go with the thought of having a good time! For the newly Impressed who are unable to leave their dragon's side, there is a mini 'Gather' being held in the Weyr Bowl, complete with dancing and bubbly pies!
Have a good time, but stay out of trouble!

The sickness that presented itself during the last hatching is spreading, as is to be expected in Ista's overcrowded halls.
Although the fainting was caused by a combination of the scorching hot sands, dehydration and fever, the illness itself will be no picnic, presenting flu-like traits along with the high fever and resultant sweating. Treatable, but miserable, this sickness will spread quickly among the tight confines of the Weyr, and tax healers and the rest of the Weyr greatly.
As before this illness is confined to the humans.

September 28th -- Igen
Igen has retired their senior Queen, and decided that, since their own Junior queens are too young, they will allow an Ista queen to take her place. Favan has moved to Igen, along with anyone who feels they want to move. So far so good -- everyone just seems to be getting settled in, with no real problems to speak of so far.
In Ista news, talk of a new clutch circulates the Weyr. They're not looking for any new Candidates, not when they just got rid of some people, but are taking Candidates who have specific job they can lend to the Weyr, such as healers or herdbeast caretakers. The rest of the Candidates will be made up of those already there, including Weyrbrats and those who have not Impressed yet.
