The Role of Astrological Houses
Interpreting an astrological chart is much easier when you have a better understanding of the individual elements. The planets, constellations and astrological houses all work together to influence our lives with their energies. The constellations give us tips about what is going on, while the planets reveal how things will likely happen. The role of the houses is to show us where our lives will be most affected.
Ancient astrologers mapped out the heavens into 12 sectors or "houses". When you look at a birth chart, you'll see it's also divided into 12 sectors, one for each house. As the constellations and planets move across the heavens, they pass through individual houses, charging them with their energy. These surges, whether they turn out to have a positive or negative effect, are felt in our daily lives. The influence is strongest when a planet enters its "home base"; the house it rules.
If we learn to understand how these major elements affect each other, we can better prepare to face coming challenges, as well as make the most of good times while we have them.
House by House
Let's take a look at each of the astrological houses and learn which areas of our lives they cover.

The eighth house is considered rather mystical, and it deals with a number of important life issues, including sexual intimacy, shared resources, spiritual issues and even death. Here, all things physical are transformed back into energy as we deal with life's mysteries.

This house is where your higher conscience, your subconscience and the unknown all collide. A house filled with mysteries, it has been referred to by many terms, including the house of worries, sorrows, fears and secrets. Although this doesn't sound particularly appealing, you have the opportunity to transcend beyond yourself in this house and learn to deal with troubling issues in order to free your mind for greater things.
* Ruling planets: Neptune and Jupiter * Ruling sign: Pisces
Astrological houses are just one component of your birth chart, but it's important to understand the aspects each one represents in order to take stock of what your chart reveals about your life. By doing so, you empower yourself to take some charge over your own destiny instead of simply reacting to life's up and downs.
