Piper stretched out against the spring earth, taking a deep breath in and letting it out in a whoosh. Luckily for her, she wasn't in charge of all four little monsters. Hurri, bless his soul, had taken Swell and Moscow, leaving her with Rumor and Squall. Total opposites, they were. They didn't get along real well being the alpha pup and the omega pup of the litter.
She watched them play, both of them by themselves. Squall was playing with a leaf, pouncing on it and biting shreds from it with his viciious puppy fangs. She smiled. Rumor... Well, Rumor wasn't in her sight at the moment.
The alphess stood and looked around, giving a sharp, short howl. Time to regroup. Perhaps she'd take them out on their first little mini-hunt. Yes, that sounded pleasant.

The pup had just pounced about an unsuspecting from, capturing it beneath her paws. She would be quite the hunter, it seemed. She was alway ready to do anything. To fight anything. Hell, she just lived for a little power.
As she lowered her maw to play games with the frog before munching him later, her mothers howl peirced her ears. She huffed, reluctantly trotting back to her mother.
As she got in sight, she saw her brother playing with a leaf, and instantly she wanted it. But her gaze turned to her mother and she smiled, not realizing the frogs legs were peering out from her sharp puppy fangs.

Squall heard his mother's howl. With one paw flattening the dying leaf, he gazed up, pale hazel eyes finding the white and navy wolf easily. He moved to get up when Rumor strode into the scene.
With a tangled feeling of uncertainty and sudden guilt about having the leaf, he coiled himself around it, flattening his ears to watch his sister. This was HIS leaf. There was no way she was taking it...unless she took it by force. He would back off, then.

Piper's lips curled into a smile as Rumor padded over to her. The pup gave a grin and two straggly looking frog legs peeked out from her mouth. Piper's eyes widened and she held back a snort of laughter, but only slightly.
"C'mere kids," she called out, laying down on the ground so to be on their level. She gave a wag of her tail and waited. If Rumor came, Squall would follow. He would forever be her little follower.
Sure, it was a little soon to be making decisions, but Rumor or Swell would be considered the heir of Gomorrah... But it wasn't like Piper was giving up her throne anytime soon. But if something happened, it would be one of the girls to take her place.

Rumor smiled, and with one throw back of her head, she tossed the frog legs in the air, lettng them fall back on her tongue where she gulped them up.
"Yes mama!" She said, her little legs doing their best to keep up her mother. She walked to her mother, sitting against her legs, brushing her muzzle behind her mothers ear.
"Im here." She said, as if it hadnt been obvious enough.

Squall stood and hurried to Rumor's side, slightly bumping up against her, his ears still flat and his tail wagging slightly. His eyes focused on his mother as his tongue lolled out of his mouth. "Me too!" he chirped.
Piper stretched her neck out to lick first Squall, and then Rumor, on the nose. Her brown eyes glittered. "Okay. So how would you like to do something that'll really make your siblings jealous?" she asked with a small chuckle in her throat. "I'm talking about a priviledge here."

Rumor grunted as Squall bumped against her. She truly had become quite iffy about others and touching her with physical contact. The thought made her hiss. But she quickly diverted her attention to her mother. Privelege, she had said? Rumor liked privileges.. She smiled. SOmething about making her siblings jealous, made the pup shake with joy.
Her eyes widened and her tail wagged quite rapidly. "Oh what is it mother, what is it?" She was so excited. A way to best Swell? That was GREAT.

Squall growled lightly at Rumor's grunt, but took two steps away from her, giving her space. A priviledge... What could mother be talking about? He tilted his head to one side, his tail wagging just as rapidly as his sister's.
Piper smirked. Well they liked THAT idea! She could tell by the way Rumor was wiggling and Squall was wagging. She bounced to her paws, making a small circle around them. "I was thinking. Perhaps you could help me on a hunt today? Just you and me." She winked at Rumor. It was sad, but she knew that the little female would do stunningly well compared to her little brother.

Rumor knew her brother would never turn any sort of fang to her. She was his sister, and he was a wimp.
She grinned, wagging her tail with a little yip and bark. Her eyes gleamed with anticipation. She would make sure she did well.
"Oh mama that will be fun!"

Piper nodded quickly, then looked between her pups. She wouldn't expect them to do much...but she was interested in what they would do. So, on her paws, she quickly made a beeline for the forest, never looking behind to see if her pups were following, expecting them to.
She hit the forest floor in a lope, enjoying the soft breeze against her fur. A few paces out, she spun and froze, waiting patiently. Patience was a new emotion for this wolf, but she found it came easily with her pups.

Rumor saw her mother dash, and her first instinct hit. Follow.. Follow and catch. Though she would never hurt mother, her taking off like that had sparked Rumor's budding hunting instinct.
She ran as fast as she could, her lungs inhaling sharply as she breathed. Running so hard hurt her lungs. When she was getting closer to mother, much slower than she had ought to have been there, sh might add; she slowed.
Coughing a bit, her throat rasped, she quickly perked up, ready to go.

Squall sat on the ground, his tail brushing the earth. A hunt, huh? He'd do pretty well! He prided himself on listening. Listening to his siblings. To his brother's mysterious creature in the trees. To his parents. He listened well; what could be the difference between hunting and listening? Surely you had to listen to hunt!
He jumped to his feet as Piper took off, a white blur to his young eyes. Rumor was up and after her quickly. Squall paused, looking around. What were they chasing? He listened, but could hear nothing, so he quickly padded after them. "Wait for me, Mama!"

Pausing at the next row of trees, she waited for her children to catch up. She was good, she was patient. But what she didn't count on was the noise the two pups could make. Rumor coughed for breath, making Piper glance down at her nervously. Squall called out as he rushed over, scattering the birds from the trees.
She whipped her head towards the pups with a small growl. "Shhh. You have to be quiet. Quieter than quiet. Understood?" She stamped a paw on the ground softly, then returned to gazing among the trees. "Now. Sit down." She sat. "Do you see anything worth catching? Give it a minute..."

Any other pup, would have been offended at her mothers tone. But she stood a bit prouder. She didnt get offended by mother, because mother could tell her where she had done wrong, and what needed fixed.
Rumor knew Piper had big plans for her, because Piper had been looking at her alot recently. Rumor just knew it had to be something special.
Seeing nothing, she lowered her body instinctively, peering out from the grasses. She stared, her eyes the eyes of a predator no matter how young she was. Suddenly a squirrel ran across the ground, andRumor perked instantly.
She wanted to get it, and whining in anticipation of it, she looked at her mother, stamping nervously in place.

Piper watched her daughter with her ears pricked forwards, listening for any sound in the pup's breathing. Any change. She found it steady and thrumming until it hitched, once. Piper's head swung around, following Rumor's gaze with her own trained eyes. She saw it immediately, a small red squirrel, paused there. Squirrels could be tricky...especially if they went up the tree.
Nipping at Squall's ear, she motioned for him to sit; which he did. With a wag of his tail. She let out a soft growl at Rumor's whimper. "I said quiet," she reminded firmly, and then placed a paw on Rumor. "Get it if you think you can... Be stealthy. Be quick."
