Stone woke up and smiled immediately seing the doe of his dreams lying asleep next to him with two adorable fluffballs hiding in her fur. It was just like his dreams. The reality was always like his dreams. Everything that happened to him was a good thing and he enjoyed every last bit of the time he was awake. He was happy even in his dreams. Most of the time he dreamed of his family or of these huge light green glades lit by the sun. And to think that Frith guided his way to a warren near one made him the happiest buck on Earth.

The warm colored rabbit stretched and yawned as he took a last look at his family. He loved them, he loved them so much. He would do anything just to make them feel happy and comfortable. He was a good father and mate, maybe even too good from time to time and too absorbed in the idea to make everybody around him see the beauty of the world. He and his family were fairly new to the warren and had arrived after the plague and hadn't heard about it. He didn't even know such a horrible desease existed and spread death among rabbits.

He felt the cold solid soil as he made his way through the burrow. He was never in a hurry and made short leaps enjoying every bit of fresh and cold air that was in the burrow. He reached the exit and suddenly stopped. It was just so beautiful outside- the dawn was coming and the sky was coloured in all shades of pink, orange and purple. The dew sparkled on the green grass as if it was saying it's last goodbye to the night sky. He got out and the grass was warmer. It got his feet a little bit wet. He took this as a refreshment and decided to go for a walk to see if any other rabbit was out here so early.

User ImageRay had woken up extra early and was bounding around, greeting everyone that was awake and either confusing or annoying them in some way or another with his presence.

As he spotted the golden buck coming outside, he rushed over to him, stopping a few inches from his face, “Hullo there friend! Tis such a glorious morn, and Frith makes merry with his dance across the sky!” he got closer to the buck, sniffing at his face curiously, in some sort of greeting, “Listen!” he sat upright suddenly “The trees are dancing and the rocks are singing! Can you hear them friend? If you listen carefully you will” he bounced over to a nearby rock and put his ear to it, “Oh…it seems, that this here rock is still deep in his slumbers” he tapped on the rock with his paw, “Awake ye rock!” he placed his ear against it once more, before leaping away like it had tried to bite him or something, “No need to be rrrude ye grumpy rock! I twas only trying to get ye to sing to my friend Goldenpaws here”

Ray shook his head and hopped back over to the buck, “Forgive his rrrudeness” he lowered his voice to a stage whisper and moved closer to the buck as if he was trying to make sure the rock wouldn’t hear him, “Some rrock’s just get a wee bit grumpy, when awoken at such an early hour of the mourn” and with that, he sat back and ran his paws down one of his long ears.

Stone yawned again and blinked at the sun rising above the green grass. It looked like it would be another pleasant warm day. It made him happy. These were the best days to be outside and make new friends in the new warren. He was really happy about the fact that no one had asked about his family's past yet. Good. He was never in the mood of sharing that information. It was not a secret but it was just unpleasant to bring up these memories. It was the only time he wasn't happy. It was hard- the goodbyes, the journey and all the obstacles he and his family had to face. However, when they finally arrived in Watership Down he promised himself never to think of these awful and painful times again. It was also a promise that made him be who he really was.

He saw a figure approaching him. It was another rabbit- he was rather weird looking with a strange smile on his face. Stone's eyes stared at the figure from his ears to his paws- it was actually very familiar. He had seen the rabbit around the warren but he had never talked to him before. This was his chance to make a new friend and he needed one very much. He wasn't really close to all the warren members but he hoped this would change and that day ti seemed like it actually would.

"The morning's pretty beautiful, isn't it?" said Stone with his usual big smile and his bright eyes twinkling under the morning sun. He got surprised when he heard that the other was hearing the rocks' songs but he tried not to take off his smile as that would be rude. He looked at the other rabbit again- no, he definitely wasn't normal. Stone had just been with this rabbit for a few seconds and was already making conclusions which wasn't normal for him. He decided to just stand there and wait to see if the rabbit was joking or not. "I apologize...friend, but it seems my ears are broken- I can't hear the rocks' songs though I am sure they are beautiful! " he said still smiling widely at the other. He didn't really hear rocks sing nor did he hear them shout. Was something wrong with him or did the stranger have issues?

" By the way, my name is Amberstone! But my friends call me Stone!" he said getting closer to the rabbit and the rocks as if to try and hear their songs and their shouts. He failed. He heard no other sounds than the wind blowing through the trees' leaves and the songs of the birds who had just waken up. " And, what's your name- I've seen you around the warren a few times now? "

Ray nodded slowly, taking in what the buck was saying, but only slightly, “Ah! Ye has a name much like the rocks themselves, yet ye cannot hear them a-singing?! That is indeed a conundrrrrrum!” he hopped closer to Amberstone, sniffing about the golden buck’s face once more, as if he were inspecting to see if there was something wrong with him, before bouncing away again.

To the question about his name Ray raised his paw, “I ask ye, what is in a name? Is it a me, is it a thee? Wheee shall neverrr know!” he tapped the rock beside him once when he'd finished speaking, and stared at Amberstone; waiting for a response.

Stone got a little confused with the other's words. His tongue was far more complicated and different than Amber's one. He had never heard anyone talk like that. Maybe it was the warren's dialect. Or maybe not. He hadn't heard anyone from Watership Down talk like that. Yet he hadn't talked to the warren members much. However, this was about to change as Stone's 'testing time' was up and he really enjoyed staying in the warren and wanted to make new friends and communicate more. He felt like he was ready for it but was he really? What if everybody talked like that rabbit- it was hard enough to understand one but what if everyone had this weird dialect. The buck was curious if all the rabbits here talked like that but he felt like it would be rude to ask such a thing.

"Well, than- maybe something's wrong with my ears!" he nodded still smiling at the weird rabbit. He had never heard stories of talking stones but on the other hand he hadn't been told much stories as a kitten. He had a lonely childhood but learned to amuse himself and to enjoy every moment like it would be the last one. "Ummm... It's okay if you still need some time before sharing your name..." Stone said though he thought it was a bit rude. After all he had shared this information with the other rabbit- why wouldn't he just do the same?

Ray blinked slowly as Amberstone spoke, “My name dear friend; is golden like the sunflower, and glistens like a stream. Tis also something that can be linked to the great Frith himself” He was never one to answer questions directly, but he had never considered it rude like most rabbits seemed to; it was simply just his way and he liked it.

“Ah! Ye be new to the warren!” he sat up suddenly, then hopped slowly around Amberstone, apparently examining him, “Ah yeeeesss, ye are most definitely new here, welcome friend! I trust ye are enjoying your time here so farrr?” he stopped in front of the golden buck, sitting up and resting his front paws neatly on his belly.

User Image "What's all this riffraff'n rabble I've been hearing about, eh?"

Badassi had been up before the sun, as he usually was, keeping a wary eye over the Down and it's inhabitants as they roused to greet the day and what it had to offer. The large, no nonsenses buck was still feeling slightly drowsy and a bit temperamental, but this did not show through his stone solid features.

Or, well, mostly didn't show. There was a small scowl set firmly on his maw as he peered down his dark muzzle at the two. He didn't know the lighter hued buck all that well. From what he knew, Amberstone, his mate, and their kittens had been welcomed into the warren only just recently. This had set him on edge, what with the recent arrival of the Diseased. But Amberstone and his family did nothing out of the ordinary and behaved as any rabbit ought to, so he felt no qualms against them.

If anything, he was slightly jealous, what with not having any kittens of his own yet, this season.

Yet that was no reason in particular to pick on the lightly hued male. It was Ray who was the target of the Owsla officer's main annoyance. The other buck had bee flitting about the Down, howling something or other about rocks and singing and dancing! The officer usually was one of an even temper and strong patience, but even he wore thin now and again, especially when other rabbits were complaining soundly about their annoyance.

"There's been a good bit of complaining, from what I've seen and heard, from other rabbits. So what is it?" He repeated sternly as he focused his emerald gaze on Ray, after giving Amberstone a quick look over.

Stone stared at the other rabbit again and analysed him. Yup, he definitely was a weird guy. He always used sentances so complexed and undecodeable that he always left the golden buck bewildered afterwards. Amber just sat there with a confused expression on his face looking at the striped buck and wondering what to say, or to be more precise what he should say. Of course, he didn't mean to be ruse, as always, but just didn't have any words to say. He really enjoyed the weirdness of the strange buck. He always respected the ones who dared to be different and the ones who dares to stand out as he didn't have the guts to do so himself.

He shivered as he saw the grey owsla heading their way. He was scared that he did something wrong. Yes, he was new to the warren but he was trying to be as insignificant as possible and was tring to get used to this new way of life as soon as possible. He was actually learning pretty fast. It was easy- being obeyful to the ones with higher rank than your and being nice and friendly to the ones with the same rank.

He looked at the owsla officer as if to make sure he was an owsla. He never did anything wrong, did he? He calmed down a little bit seing that the one that attracted the officer's attention was the weird buck not him. Somehow, he knew that the other rabbit would get him into some sort of trouble- he was just too noisy. Stone decided not to say anything and see if the other buck was the only one to blame for the owsla's sudden visit.

Ray watched as the large Owsla officer approached them. His ears turned back and forth, and his face wore an obvious confused expression. He couldn’t recall having ever spoken to this particular officer before, though he knew Owsla had very short tempers, and that most would not be willing to put up with his mannerisms…but when had that ever stopped him before?

As the officer began asking him questions Ray shuffled closer to Amberstone, as if for protection in case things got ugly, “If I tell ye the truth, I'll tell ye a lie, but if ye call me false I’ll also tell ye a lie” Ray gestured his front paw towards the Owsla buck and stared at him, wearing his usual smile and with his nose twitching like crazy. He hadn’t been doing anything out of his usual behaviour so he couldn’t see why it would suddenly be an issue.

"So what is it, the truth or a lie?"

The dusty hued rabbit sat back on his haunches and peered down at the striped rabbit with tired, yet slightly amused eyes. He saw very little point in round-about explanations and word games; they could be devastating in times of need and really just made the job of an owsla all the more frustrating wjen confronted with a rabbit that preferred to run circles around them with words, rather than with their paws.

He leaned back on his haunches once more, holding his black and white paws tucked near his chest, as he gave their surroundings a quick scan, then focused on Ray again.

"No one has called you false. Only there is some griping about your bothering others. Is he bothering you?" He tilted his fluffily furred head slightly as he turned his emerald gaze from Ray to Amberstone.

Stone stood right next to the two rabbits quietly. He tried to look as innocent as possible which was really easy as he actually didn't do anything. The golden rabbit got even more confused when his weird new friend got closer to him as if to seek protection. But protection from what? Did he actually do anything wrong? What if Stone could get in trouble because of the striped rabbit? He was really new to the warren and had yet to prove that he is trustworthy and that his name should be remembered and a problem like that would make everybody look down on him. He didn't want this to happen but he just couldn't be rude to the other rabbit. He just stood there not moving a muscle- with a quite serious expression, looking at the officer.

"Ummm....well..." he started mumbling when the owsla officer asked him a question. What should he do- should he stand up for his new friend or should he back off so that he didn't get involved into any trouble. "Hm, not a bother at all, officer. I don't know who would say such a thing for this fella here." he looked at the striped rabbit and put his big smile on his face again. Yep, he definitely did the right thing...

Ray’s ear twitched as the owsla officer spoke to him, he was much calmer then Ray had originally thought. Usually when he gave roundabout answers to things most tended to get frustrated with him. Perhaps he had finally met an owsla officer that didn’t want to take his head off as soon as he spoke?

“Is it a lie, or is it the truth? The answer my friend, is a-yeeeesss” he smiled strangely at the officer for a moment, then hopped happily around Amberstone as he stood up for him, “See, I be not a bother. My friend Goldenpaws and I were just having a wee chat”

His emerald eyes seemed to stare right through Ray and Amberstone as he dwelled on the strange rabbit's words only briefly. He really did not have the time of patience for word games and thus did not plan on chatting with the pair for long or even trying to grasp just what Ray was yammering on about.

"Well, reports are reports. Take care that you don't bother others, alright?" He replied with a wiggle of his nose and tilted his head slightly to the right. "Good to see you aren't a bother, though... Hnn, Ray is the name, yes? And I'm afraid I do not know your name, "Goldenpaws." New, aren't you?"

Stone smiled widely hearing the weird buck call him 'a friend' again. His aim was to get as many friends as possible because this way it would be easier to live in this new for him warren. This didn't happen easy though- some thought Stone was too much of a positive thinker and others just ignored him. However, there were rabbits like the striped buck, which Stone met from time to time, that made it easy to have a nice and friendly conversation with. And eventhough the buck was quite weird Stone felt like they could be good friends as most rabbits took him for weird also.

His ears stood up as he heard the owsla pronouncing the other buck's name. Realizing he hadn't heard it yet he looked at Ray smiled at him and then looked back at the owsla. "Amberstone, officer!" he wasn't surprise at all that the grey buck didn't know him- most of the rabbits in the warren didn't. "It's a pleasure to meet you!" he said politely as usual.

Ray smiled brightly as the officer asked him weather his name was “Ray”, “Ooh, maybe it is, and maybe it’s not!” he hopped slowly around Amberstone to sit on the other side of him and to peer at the officer eccentrically, “Goldenpaws is indeed new to the warren, but we’ll make him feel welcome soon enough! Bring about the merriment and the dancin!” he seemed to be shouting that towards the sky or to the big tree that grew over the burrows, though what he expected to happen exactly was unclear.
