I was re-readign the Manga recently and it got me thinking. Yuusuke is technically a human/demon hybrid of some sort and it raises the question of how he'll age compared to Keiko and what that could mean problem wise in their relationship.

I mean when Keiko is forty if he still looks like he does now won't it raise some eyebrows if they are together some where in public?

A similar situation also exist for Kuwabara and Yukina but that probably wouldn't raise as many eyebrows since older men with young mistresses isn't that unusual around the world.

I've definitely given that some thought. It's not just that Yuusuke is a demon-human hybrid, it's that he's a really rare and peculiar sort. It's possible he'll live to be over a thousand like Raizen, or even longer, or he might have only half that. I think it's reasonably to assume, though, that he's not going to age at the same rate as a normal human any longer.

The aging factor is what's always made me sad about the Kuwabara/Yukina pairing.

I think it's worth noting that Kurama might have some interesting physical changes wrought on his human body by his demon soul, especially now that he's regained a lot of his power and the ability to transform. This could also include lifespan issues.

Yeah I'd say this affects Kurama as well. Most normal humans can't take a sword through the gut and live.

Not to mention all the abuse he takes in other fights like putting a toxic plant inside his own body.

Yeah, the whole KuwabaraxYukina age difference thing always made me cry. And if you think about it, if you look back at Hina when she was having Yukina and Hiei, which by that time she had lived 100 years, she looked to be in her early 20s...And then there's borderline_mary's theory about Hiei and Yukina appearing 12 in the series.

I think the aging factor is one of the reasons the creator (I can never remember how to spell his name ^^; Yes, I know, I know, and I call myself a YYH fan...) ended the series at the time he did. The aging factor could've easily made things too difficult to continue.

I know I've had to face this challenge with my HieixOC pairing, as my OC is a full-fledged human and I don't know where I want her to realize the gap and say 'Stop, I can't take this. There's gotta be a way around this.'

As for Kurama...I was always convinced that despite his soul, his body was still human, so it wouldn't make too much of a difference. And about the whole toxic plant thing, I was just convinced Yoko had enough knowledge to know where to place the plant so it wouldn't affect him. Not too mention that he's grown up normally this entire time.

Yusuke, on the other hand's, demon blood just awakened, and while some could argue against me with Shuuichi's argument (sorry, I like that name. Shhhuuuuuuiiiicccchhiiiii! : D) I would like to point out that the demon did not awaken inside him until after his second revival in which there WAS a physical change, as can be seen as he no longer had a human heart beat. (Remember in the anime after he died when Kuwabara checked his heartbeat to see if he was alive. Later he came back and after a frightening laugh from Yoko-appearing Kurama and Hiei [scared the crap outta me, but made me grin all the same ; D] they explained how demons don't have a typical human heartbeat.)

Well, I know I'm rambling and not answering any questions (other than my view point on Kurama), but I guess I'm just bringing to the table more issues.

Also you could take into mind the fact that Hiei (I know no one mentioned him originally but I'd like to bring him to the table as well) is only HALF koorime and the other half is a FIRE demon which we DON'T know the typical life span of.

If you look at it, all of Raizen's (sp?) friends appeared in there...40's maybe? Mid-life crisis in human terms while Raizen who had been starving himself of humans appeared like an old man? (Skin and bones plus white hair?) So their nutrition and diets could also play a huge part in their aging.

Finally, as for Kuwabara, I have seen some arguments that he uses Spirit Energy therefore his life span will be greatly increased and "look at Toguro and Genkai. They both could go all young." However, Genkai only becomes young through the Spirit Wave and Toguro was mixed with demon genes, or something like that, ne?

On a final note...couldn't you imagine 60-year-old Yusuke on Ninja Warrior? XD

I'd say Kuwabara will probably live to a ripe old age for a human but I doubt his lifespan will compare to Yukina's even though she's powerwise something of a minor demon.

Heia and Yukina's ages aren't even known and as you said when it comes to Kurama and Yuusuke we really don't know how they'll age.

I mean it's possible Kurama was willing to settle for a human's lifespan in additional years after getting wounded or he could have changed the body a great deal. There were some references to his demon nature being healed after about ten years IIRC.

Yusuke may remain physically young longer than Keiko, but I don't think it will raise much an an eyebrow. Remember, at the end of the manga series, demons and humans are starting to mingle, even becoming high celebrities. I wouldn't be surprised if humans and demons started to form romantic relationships, therefore making the physical gap a little less unusual.

But if you'll also recall, Miss Ayana, at least in the anime, it showed at the end that the general human population was still in the dark about Demon World and that whenever a human was found in Demon World, their memory was erased and they were sent back immediately and unharmed to Human World, thus I REALLY don't know where you got the idea that humans and demons are mingling thus will form romantic relationships.

True, the barrier was taken down, but as stated earlier, none of the races are mingling with each other except for those with connections to Spirit World (i.e. Yusuke, Kuwabara, Yukina, Genkai...)

So, basically, I'm asking you where you got the reference. Lol. ^^;

OH! I thought of another issue to bring up today.

Will Yusuke crave humans?

I mean, all the Mazuko ate was humans...so will he want to eat humans too...? Will he randomly start biting himself because of the human blood in him or will it play another role by just stopping him from craving humans? Will he just be a very carnivorous human and always be craving meat? Or will his diet remain unchanged? Or will be result to cannibalism? Or will he try to starve himself?

SO MANNNY QUUUEEEESSSTTTTTIIIIOONNNNSSSS!!!! q_q

The anime really didn't fill in as many gaps in the manga did, though the memory erasing does happen in both of them. What the anime leaves out though is that though humans are still protected from the demon world for some reason (probably due to demons who have yet to get over their hate of humans) demons are beginning to intertwine with the human world, as you can see here in the manga.

^^ See? It seems to be that overall demons and humans aren't having too much trouble getting along lol.

Interesting theory Havishanta! You know, Yusuke SHOULD be craving humans, it would make sense lol but, since the manga has shown us what happens in his life months after his transformation, and he seems to not show any signs of craving human, I think it's safe to say that somehow his diet went unchanged lol.

Wooow...so you know, in the manga world, maybe it wouldn't make too much of a difference. They could just be like, "Oh, this is mah gf. She be a demon."

And people will be like. "Noooooaaaawww! No way!"

And Kuwa will be like "Lolz! No ferrealz!" XD

Hmmm...I wonder why they never showed that in either series....Did the creator just not consider it, or did he have some special thing that explained it that he never showed....or what? Theories anyone?
PostPosted: Mon Apr 20, 2009 6:43 pm

I have no idea why the animators left out all of the extra stuff...it would have been so cool to watch! You have the manga scene where Hiei and Muroko (is that spelled right? lol) get closer, Yukina comes to live with Kuwabara (aww!), Genkai dies and leaves them her will (which they kind of covered in the anime, but left her alive...) and Yusuke makes a very sweet comment about Keiko ^-^ (not to her face, of course lol)

Awww! Genkai dies?! D 8

I think its because he didn't want to deal with all the extra drama of going through the whole "hey, Yusuke's not any different" then saying "Oh wait, lolz, minor detail, he likes to eat people. That could cause a few minor issues."

So he put a bit X through that and went back to writing. XD
PostPosted: Mon Apr 20, 2009 7:36 pm

LOL yeah, that would make things a little difficult XD "I am Yusuke, I want meat! Raaaaah!"

Hero's aren't supposed to eat people >.>

Yes, Genkai dies crying It's sad...but it looks like she just died of old age while Yusuke was on his latest mission. She talks to him through Puu while he's trying to make a big decision, and just encourages him the tough way she usually does...then Yusuke comes back from his mission and finds out she died. They have a nice little funeral, she leaves her land to the group, and the manga ends with a beach scene like the anime does ^^

Wow it's been awhile...

I would like to think that Kurama can always abandon his human body and revert to Youko, after his mother dies. I think that's the only reason why he would stay in that form in the first place. So I wouldn't necessarily be concerned about Kurama. Which means my pairing is safe since my OC is demon.

However, I would like to maybe bring up a maybe happier view on things.

Has anyone hear read Two Shots? The special edition of how Hiei and Kurama met?

Well, I remember how Maya was able to see and hear that weird spirit thing he was talking, even though she was human. I think Kurama had said, since she was around the presence/essence or whatever for so long that she's developed a sense of awareness to them.

What if, the humans in our beloved group, developed a sense like that too. Only not so much in awareness but more like absorption. Of the power around them. So much so that it prolongs their life? Even just a bit?

And, just how long do Fire Demons live anyhow... Yukina and Hiei's dad may have been a demon who's lifespan isn't particularly long... Who knows...

Just a thought. <<;;
PostPosted: Mon Apr 20, 2009 9:16 pm

Well we know Raizen can live for over 500 years. lol.

Um...I don't know what you were really referring to with the whole absorption thing, but like I said, Genkai didn't remain young or have a prolonged life from what I could tell....so if that affects that statement at all then yeah...

As for Kurama, I don't know. It just seems to me like he's trapped in that human body so....I don't know. YYH is confusing when you try to dissect it. q_q

I guess, but Genkai lived 50 years in seclusion, she wasn't exposed to any demons in that time I don't think.

Kurama's changed back to his demon form a few time sin the anime, so I don't really think he's trapped.
