At Eyris Castle, Tibarn sat at the table in the guard house rec room, leaning back with his feet up. Ayra had taken Vah out to visit Fefga's and check on Mel, so Tibarn had little to do but hang out with the guards. All around him, guards were seated around the room, some reading books, others arm wrestling or playing cards. Tibarn fanned out the cards in his hand, smirking, and peered over his boots at the two laid out on the table, then put his feet down and pushed four coppers into the pot with a sly grin. The guard beside him grumbled and slapped his cards down as Tibarn crowed, "What's wrong, Clang? Haha, keep this up and you'll lose on antes. Hey hey, you put that finger down before I break it." He smirked as the other two saw his bet, and reached out to flip the next card when the door slammed against the wall.

Steely Dan rubbed his square, stubbly jaw as he walked in, waving a little piece of paper. "Oy," called the Captain, "Wake up in here. We've got a situation in town, moving to high alert. We've got a killer on the loose, slaughtered a bunch of people outside a bar and ran off. Clang, Streaky, Shines, Large, Chickenwire, go get Keebler and split into two patrols on the walls, look out for anyone trying to sneak in. We've already stepped up security on north and south gates, so Needles, you're with me on the west gate. We don't let anyone in without checking 'em first."

There was general muttered acknowledgment of these orders as men began to haul themselves up quickly, heading for the lockers for their armor and weapons. Tibarn chuckled and quietly flipped the last card, then checked the others' discarded hands before pulling the pot to his end of the table. "Hey, Steely Dan. Come on now, you think this is really all necessary?" he called, looking up seriously. "I mean, Captain Ghis and his boys are out there, I'm sure they can handle whatever it is."

There was a long moment of silence as the two rugged men stared at one another, and then Tibarn slapped the table as both burst into laughter. After several seconds they began to compose themselves, and Tibarn wiped his eye, still laughing as he said, "Yeah, go take care of business, I'll come help." He swept his winnings into his purse, a simple, small leather sack, then tucked it away in his infamous overcoat and shook his head, climbing around the furniture and stepping out into the castle courtyard.

"Eheeheeheheheeeheeeeheheheehee~" Rappahannock giggled before waltzing into the scene. "Many, many death will lie." he let out secondly, and then whipped out his sword. It didn't have a name, but it was thin like a rapier, and short like a kodachi, but shaped a little obtuse. Very sharp, it gleamed in the sun, glimmering as he performed the strangest dash anyone has probably seen. It looked like he was having a heart attack while trying to waltz into a grocery store when he was famished. The guards stared in slight peril as what to do; should they attack, or get him help? Before they decided that, ribbons were being made out of Keebler, and the others tried to help him. Keebler was fully disarmed by Rappahannock, and couldn't move while his skull was being twittled away in twirling strips, blood gushing out fast. Keebler died by shock, ironically, before he could bleed to death or have any vital process stopped. As the others rushed him, he stayed his ground.

Faceless soldiers mainly advanced, and Streaky leading them. They were picked off swiftly, as Rappahannock didn't find fun in killing them, just severing many limbs within seconds, starting with the joints. His sword was slathered in goopy blood, and was slicing through the guards' butter with a quickness. Streaky stepped back, as he was confronted with Rappahannock, whittling at his armor, cutting it with large metal splinters falling to the ground. Streaking was panicking, trying to bludgeon Rappahannock off him like a dolt instead of trying to cut him. He finally whittled enough to poke a hole through, and it soon had blood leading from it as he whittled his bowels as well. Muscles, stomach contents, one deviled egg, and other organs came out in pieces and fell to the ground with a "SKIULCH!" Streaky soon followed his insides, and fell to the ground.

He puffed, like taking a hit from a cigarette from a mad craver. Sitting on the corpse, he inspected Streaky's hair. It was so different from his own, and confusing. He shrugged his legs, not shoulders, and looked at the other men charging them. So many he was allowed to kill, it make him so excited.

"Wow." Asami saw the dead bodies as she slipped through the shadows. "Master would be proud if he saw this." She then looked at Rappahannock

"Don't kill all of them." She stated, "I need some of these guys to be infected." She formed her sword, cut herself to make her bleed, and started cutting the generic soldiers. It didn't take long for them to be infected. Since they didn't have a strong enough will or any free will, they couldn't be evil on their own. They depended on Asami for the evil thoughts.

People screaming and running about.

Swordplay and screams of battle.

Would it kill them t' TALK their problems out? a hungover Ghis thought, a mix of sleepy and irritated.

"Captain! Captain, wake up!"

"Mrrph."

"...Captain Ghis, get up this minute!"

Ghis let out a long, sleepy sigh and raised himself up off the bed, finding himself in the small Constablery barracks. One of the rank-and-file faced him, a young Soldier, new to the Watch, his face pale with fear.

"There'd better be a good reason why ye woke me up."

"Sir! Th-there's... there's some kind of psycho in town! He's slaughtered several guards without breaking a sweat! What should we do!?"

Ghis glared at this new recruit. This was why he hated new recruits: They thought that wherever there was trouble, they HAD to rush in.

"If 'e cut down a bunch o' Eyris' finest like they were a bunch o' wee pups, laddie, what makes ye think we'll fare any better?" Ghis growled.

"Well... err..."

Ghis shook his head and began reaching for his armor. Granted, a sudden mass murderer wasn't something the Watch could just IGNORE--as much as Ghis was one for saving his own skin, when people's lives were on the line, they expected someone to defend them. You failed to do that, and the people of Eyris had one of two words for you: "Corpse" or "Unemployed".

"Aright, look--get everyone t'gether, and for the love o' th' gods, STAY AWAY from the man! We need t' find a way to at least get 'im out o' the city. At least keep him from killin' anybody NOT stupid enough t' fight 'im!"

"Y-yes! Right away!" the Soldier ran off to summon the rest of the Watch.

Tibarn's pointed ear twitched at the horrific sounds from the south gate, and he cursed loudly at the sight of an entire squad, dead or clutching stumps. The Hawk King's eyes focused in like binoculars on Rappahannock, taking in every detail, and then he spotted... something else. It was hard to see it... some kind of shadowy thing.

And then form came of it. Behind the ranks! Tibarn's wings spread as he growled, kicking off the ground and flying straight at her. A powerful flap took him up and he flared his wings, swinging his feet around and driving down at Asami in an attempt to take her down. Already, a bright green glow was beginning to spread from his chest as he started his transformation.

But before the hawk king could finish transforming Asami grabbed him and dragged him into the shadows.

"I wasn't going to let you become the great hawk that you are Tibarn in that world." She told him as she went for a quick swipe at him. She knew that fighting a person with wings was going to be hard.

Tibarn's transformation halted unexpectedly as he was dragged into the pulsing world of shadow, and he dodged away from her attack quickly, lifting into the air. "What the hell!? Who are you, woman!? Where did you bring me!?" He shifted in the air and dodged aside another sword thrust, then brought his boot down on her face and dropped to the ground, trying to ram his fist into her stomach!

Asami blocked Tibarn's fist and dug her claws into it. She then cut her hand with the tip of her sword, allowing the blood to seep into the Hawk King's system.

"Oh you're a better prize than the last person I fought." she said with a smirk.

CLANG! A sword rang out as it struck its bearer's shield, and the soldier known as Clang laughed out loud. "Finally a little action around here, eh boys?" He grinned back at his comrades, Chickenwire and Large, then raised his sword. The other two followed suit, and all three gave a guttural roar as the Castle Guard's most enthusiastic fighters began their run across the courtyard.

Those three were universally feared and respected among the guard, nearly as much as Captain Daniel Leek himself. Chickenwire was a scar-faced bear of a man who supposedly had connections in as many underworlds as he possibly could. His skills with an axe and shield were without question, but his nickname stemmed from the rumor that he still carried a chickenwire garrotte at all times.

Large was about four feet and seven inches tall and had about thirty feet of attitude. New recruits used to pick on him when they arrived, before they learned where they fit on the food chain. Their antics earned them the most humiliating of beatdowns: When a tiny, tiny man comes flying up from below and gives you such an uppercut you get whiplash. He wore not armor but a loose uniform that gave him room to move. The swordmaster's size was no barrier to his might, and the number of enemies whose legs had been removed at the knees was a testament to it.

Clang was smaller than his fellow Hero-class, Chickenwire, but he was considered a few degrees crazier. His nickname derived from his habit of slapping his sword against his own shield as a war cry. His particular specialty lay in killing his foes with whatever he could lay hands, be it a sword, his shield, a brick, and once he even threw Large at somebody to kill them. He was the last thing you wanted to see charging you in battle. He was the last thing you would see charging you in battle.

They did their best not to kill those comrades who had already darkened as they arrived, turning their blades flat and striking to immobilize.

Captain Daniel Leek (known respectfully by his men as "Steely Dan"), meanwhile, had made his way to the center of the courtyard and was shouting orders as more of his men poured off the castle walls and out of the castle itself as he watched his men starting to turn and form up in front of Rappahannock, facing Dan.

"Rrrf... the hell they think they're doing. Alright, men! Let's go, try not to kill 'em yet, but let's give 'em hell! Take em down while the fearsome threesome flanks 'em, and for goddess' sake stay out of Clang's way this time, Shines! Let's move!"

[And now a Tibarn post. 8D]
PostPosted: Wed Apr 15, 2009 10:16 pm

Tibarn snarled as the blade sank into his shoulder, and his fist connected squarely with the reptile woman's nose a second later. "Rrrgh, oh, I'll make you pay for that, b***h," he hissed. His wings shook with rage.

... Over a scratch? Come on now, he got pissed, but... he'd never shook like this, even when Naesala sold Reyson out. Except when...

He drew back his fist to punch again, but seemed to lose track of what he was doing as he stumbled backwards. Something seemed to be welling in his chest, a heavy blackness that drew out the pain and shame that had plagued him for so long. His hands slid up into his hair, clutching sable locks in both fists as he gasped for breath.

He could still... the blood. The feel of a heart ceasing to pulse in his talons. The blood, oh the blood... he felt it at night, in the time between sleep and waking. He felt it now...

That book... it was locked in his bedside drawer. It was still there. He didn't deserve to have it... He was not worthy of it. He wouldn't dare open it or read it, certainly. Never.

Shame and darkness settled over Tibarn like a cloud, and then... and then it all started to become clear. A smile settled over his face uneasily, not sure it belonged there, while the real world came back into focus around him.

After all, if he could ruthlessly slaughter Vaheriansyeri, what stopped him killing anyone else? It was a liberating thought.

There was a flash of green light, and the newly liberated Tibarn screeched before liberating the nearest soldier with his talons.

His heavy suit of armor finally on, Ghis trudged out into the street. Several buildings stood between him and the source of the commotion, but buildings couldn't block a hawk's battle cry. Back in the time of the blizzard, as he'd been fighting off Mauthe Doogs left and right, he'd heard Tibarn's screech--for anyone believing to be on his side, it was terrible yet courage-inspiring. After all, if you had a former laguz king on your side, you had a powerful ally. This screech, however--still terrible, but fear-inspiring. It sounded... warped. A bit sadistic, even.

In the commotion, a cart full of apples and assorted fruits stood empty, its owner abandoning the cart while perhaps off finding safety. The General trudged over to the cart, picked out a nice red apple, lifted his visor, and took a big bite.

Waste not, want not.

The Brave Little NPC Soldier returned, this time with reinforcements--two archers kept a close pace behind him, while two horses with riders brought up the rear. The beating of soft wings announced the arrival of the only women in the Constablery--a pegasus knight, with a mage in tow.

It wasn't much, which was why the Constablery was considered a punch line at best... but it was better than nothing. Besides, with the pegasus knight, they had the best information as to what was happening.

Ghis frowned. He'd known the castle guard to be generally arrogant and at times, very ineffective, but he'd never considered them to be spontaneous traitors.

"Right. Peg," Ghis said, pointing to the pegasus and riders, "Ah want you to watch from afar. If ye feel the need, bombard the guard ranks and stay away from tha' hawk if ye value yer lives. Cavalry," he added, gesturing to the two horsemen, "Go on ahead t' th' manor o' th' hill. They'll want t' know what's happening. The rest of ye on me. Sounds like the situation's turnin' bad. We need to start gettin' the people oot."

The enormous Hawk King circled over the battlefield, diving and tearing through ranks of soldiers, many his friends, his screeching battle cry a mad cackle of glee. He lifted a horse right off the ground and threw it at its retreating dismounted rider. He could have slaughtered them all easily if he chose, but he was having...

Fun.

Oh, yes... He never would have denied that there was a great feeling he got in battle, a rush, but it felt so damn good to finally drop all those pointless attachments and reservations. In fact... there was a bit of a thrill in the betrayal itself! Like he was having a little private joke at their expense as his talons tore them open from hip to neck! And behind it all was blissfully undirected rage, channeled out toward anyone in front of him. The fight had always been fun. Now the killing was fun, too, and it felt wonderful.

By now the guards were engaged in a messy, confused battle with enemies indistinguishable from their allies, and with Asami darting through the crowd, more men were becoming enemies at every moment. A bell began to ring out from one of the sentry towers on the wall, calling the Reserve Guards to action at the castle as Clang faced down Asami himself. He grinned widely as he called, "Oi, whose mum porked a wyvern?" as he slapped his shield with his sword, circling his reptilian foe. Chickenwire circled her opposite Clang, twirling and re-gripping his axe. They both paused for a second, then charged as one. Clang ducked down and swung his sword toward Asami's back while Chickenwire swung his axe at her face, both attempting to catch her in a scissoring attack while Large charged at her from in front, his sword pointed forward to impale her if she ducked!

"Too easy." Asami started to spin around. As she spun around She started hacking away at the men who were attacking her. She knew this wouldn't take that long.
PostPosted: Thu Apr 16, 2009 1:56 pm

Rappahannock knelt to the ground where blood was flooding the dirt and rock, and lapped it up. The way he kneels is not like any other, he does it with one leg back, another to the side, supporting his back half on the knee, and both hands on the ground, with the fingers pointing towards the torso. After satisfying his urge, he looked up to the many soldiers around him. Then to the chaos surrounded them. "Uncertainty chaos, by having ride nothing!" was shouted in his usual raspy voice.

Rappahannock stood, supporting himself on his left leg, holding his sword in his left hand. He favors the left over the right, even though he is right-handed, because the right is missing a pinky. To him, that makes all the difference. And who could argue, with as many battles as he has seen, and still breathing just fine, where is there room to criticize his method of staying alive? He stared at the guard men with seemingly emblazoned, wide eyes. Inspecting his sword for blood, and other various insides, he licked it until it was clean and gleaming, then lied down on the ground flat as if he just died right next to those he killed, with a thud.

He said "For try," under his breath, "now me."
