This is the thread you post in if you'd like a custom firelizard! Just post the form in thread, and after the designated period winners will be announced! Customs for April 15th - 22nd will be based on a "colorists choice" concept, based on Nata's skill (she sucks and can't do some designs), interesting concept, etc. Eggs/Firelizards will be delivered asap.

There were several others I really wanted to do, but honestly, I wasn't sure how long it would take me. I have an exam today (which I haven't studied for ahahaha;;; ) and a final tomorrow. After that I'll get to work on them up until wednesday (upon which I have a final). If I get these done relatively quickly I may take on a few more which I liked.

Color: Greeeeen. 8D
Design: Based on a common European adder, Britain's only venomous snake. ^w^ Exactly how you do it is up to you - however you think the design translates best is fine by me! My only request is that you make the contrast between the main colour and the pattern fairly strong: some adders don't display as much contrast as others, and I feel the highly contrasting look is the most attractive. 3nodding
Reference: This is a particularly good image, but if you need one from other angles then feel free to poke me or Google Images as you choose! The latin name is Vipera berus, hence the name "Beru". biggrin
Stage: Egg please! (zigzags ftw?)
Reason for design: One, I like bold, striking patterns that are simple but effective. Vipera berus has a good example of that. Two, I went for a British animal because I don't think most of them get enough love! There are so many bright and wonderful animals out there that people love to copy for their pets, and it's about time one of my country's animals got a chance to shine. Thirdly, I went for a green because Merya, who is also pretty damn small, would enjoy having something teeny enough to easily ride around on her shoulder or snuggle in her lap. Finally, having a firelizard that looks like a venomous snake fits Merya well - unlike the snake, she has no markings to warn people how poisonous she can be if you annoy her...
Story: Saren the tailor has been thoroughly spoiling Merya almost since the day they met. It's his fault she's now at Ista - he brought her there at her request (read: insistence), and is continuing to shower her with gifts of all kinds in the hopes of securing her affections. Merya, of course, is all too happy to play along. If Saren found out that Talis was selling firelizard eggs, he would doubtless be very quick to give Merya the necessary funds, shoo her in the right direction and tell her to choose one for herself. (PLEASE NOTE: due to my insane levels of uni work I might not be able to play the story out until May 1st or later. x.x)

Design: has a slightly darker tiger-like stripe pattern on his hide

Reason for design:matches the name of the Firelizard and a little of his personality (very cat-like ... RL cat)
Story: Once while checking the shore line heading west past Southern hold Keiryann, caught sight of a Firelizard or two flying around excitedly. He brings his small craft to shore a distance from where he had seen the small dragon-like critter and then moves on foot to the cove he had seen it dive into. when he finally makes it to the cove he sees a bunch of wild wherries attacking the newly hatched Firelizards, while the golden mother and her flight is trying desperately trying to save the young ones. without thinking keiryann runs out to where the next is using his small knife to scare the wherries from the Firelizards. he nearlly tripped on/over a small bronze who was attempting to attack the Wherries. Keiryann manages to scatter the Wherries long enough to get the remaining Firelizards a chance at life. As he goes to leave he feels something trying to get at the small packet of meatrolls/rations, he had taken for his little trip, at his right pocket. The small little bronze he saw before was try for the meatrolls. He could tell it was the same one as he had a distinct tiger stripe pattern on his hide. Keiryann takes out the rolls and holds it out for the little bronze, whom lunges for it. at that time Keiryann genitally grabs the little one and slowly feeds the Firelizard the 2 of 3 meatrolls he had. The little bronze after finishing the 2 rolls chirped in question and sends a impression of a 'where are we going?' to keiryann, it was then that he realizes that he had just impresses a firelizard. He had completely forgot the other Firelizards and the wherries he had chased away and moved to his boat with Tigger, the little Bronze Firelizard, making his way home to Southern Hold.

Character: Govind

Name: Laverick
Color: Bronze
Design: Near the end of his tail, his feet, and the very edges of his wings is a dark bronze, borderline brown. As the coloring goes up, it fades until Asa's head is a light bronze. On his stomach area is a half-circle of the lightest possible shade of bronze without going white. This represents the sun just coming over the horizen.
Reference: His markings and shading is very similar to this.
Stage: Firelizard
Reason for design: To me, the sunrise is a time of new beginnings for each day and the Bronze lizards/dragons are the key beings who help bring new life into the Weyr.
Story: Born into the cold Crom Hold, Govind naturally felt like an outcast when he first came to the warm walls of Ista Weyr. Often, he would venture out to the shoreline and just stare out at the rising or setting sun to think about the change in his life. Although he meet a few people during the few seven days he had been there, the miner felt that he had no true friends.

So, one morning, while he was preparing to head back to the Weyr after watching the sun rise, where he thought he was originally alone, a new prensence made himself known. Unknowingly, Govind had placed his bag ontop of a clutch of firelizard eggs under the sand and one of the little creatures attempting to surface made it known that something funny-smelling and nasty-tasting was blocking his path out. So, crouching down and taking the bag off the small mound, Govind came face-to-face with the whirling eyes of a small bronze lizard. Naturally, the miner went to reach for a meatroll to feed the tiny creature. As he held out the food, the annoyed lizard did something unexpected....and very painful.

Govind's yell of pain could practically be heard all the way back to the Weyr as the little being's sharp fangs dug into his fingers. The two yanked away from one another and, as Govind was shaking out his hand and cursing, the firelizard snagged the discarded meatroll before disappearing between; casting one last glare at the now-empty spot, Govind stood and grabbed his bag with his uninjured hand. Before he even took five steps, the little lizard reappeared before him with his eyes whirling a yellow-grey mixture with sad noises coming out of the tiny throat. It looked like it wanted to apologize...but his throbbing hand and annoyance was pushing the "I forgive you" back down into his throat before it came spilling out of his mouth. Govind simply stood there as the bronze hovered eye-level and stared back. After about a five-minute staring contest, Govind gave into the pitiful face and nodded with a light smile. With that invitation, Laverick (as the miner called the creature) happily dove into his bag and helped himself to more meatrolls and fruit stowed away while his new human simply walked on with a sigh.

Things were going to be interesting from now on...

Name: Roan
Color: Blue
Design: In my head, I imagine a very dull blue - almost gray, even, except for a few snatches of color. This is due mostly to spotty care while it was in its (abnormally small) egg, that took the shine out of its scales.

Stage: Firelizard
Reason for design: As detailed in the backstory, this is not the healthiest flitt around. In fact, it's very lucky to have survived at all, being born small and cared for by someone without the right knowledge, let alone the later trauma - at least halfway to a miracle, in fact.
Story: (Still playing with the exact details of the backstory, so forgive if there's any inconsistencies; I hadn't expected to have to write out details for a while XD)

When Okassis sees flitts, he grows saddened and withdrawn; and the reason why is one he's so ashamed of, he won't even discuss it with his best friend. Not long ago at all - just before he came to the Weyr a week ago - he'd been working trades at the Big Bay Hold, immediately prior to his family crossing to Ista in order to deliver some high-price woodcrafts to a cousin of the Lord Holder. When bartering with one of the locals, he came onto a prime piece of information - someone had gotten ahold of some firelizard eggs, and was selling them off!

Abandoning the caravan immediately, Okassis eagerly went in search of this person. Arriving with all his saved marks in hand, he found that the man had only one egg left. It was a small and ugly thing, and looked unlikely to hatch - what's worse, the man demanded as much price for it as for a healthy firelizard egg!

But Okassis had always dreamed of dragons, of any size. Growing up on the road, with little time spent in the Holds where dragonriders Searched (and with his caravan's peculiar philosophies regarding Weyrfolk, how they made "Weyrslaves" out of the Holders - and even deeper, how the Impression of dragons was despicable and unnatural in ways he could never claim to have understood), Okassis didn't have much else except those dreams. Until now - this little egg, forlorn, with the world already against it.

He, the Trader's son who had spent his life being stingy, gave up every mark in his pocket for that potentially nonviable egg. And he hid it from his father in the sands of the coast, where it would warm in the sun; he spent his nights tending a fire, terrified that if it should cool, he would lose it. And when the caravan was ready to cross the bay to Ista, he sold off his valuables to bribe the captain of the sea vessel to help him find a place where it could warm on the boat. Once ashore, he hid it the best he could on a wagon, walking beside it with care on the road from Hold to Weyr. All this while, the egg seemed warm; Okassis imagined he felt life beneath its shell, giving his heart a thrill at every soft motion.

Then, at the Weyr, he was forced to leave its care to tend to trading. He worked anxiously the whole day, worrying his sister with his nervous attitude. But for a whole day, his secret stayed safe.

The second day wasn't so lucky.

While Okassis was tending stall, his father came to him, livid. He'd found the egg among Okassis's things in the caravan. Okassis's veins filled with ice as the old man went on a tirade about his ignorance, his foolishness, his sheep-like blindness, and barely managed to ask, "Where is it? What did you do with it?"

"Threw the damn thing out!"

This is where the argument turned into a screaming fight between father and son. The broken trust of hiding something from his father was small, compared to the sheer violation of ethics that Okassis had committed by keeping the egg; and to Okassis, his father had murdered his dream, killed his only chance at a dragon.

It was either fate or irony, then, that the scuffle of this fight would lead to Okassis being Searched. Bloodied and bruised, he turned from his life in the caravan in an instant.

This was a week ago. But perhaps the egg hadn't been destroyed, as Okassis had thought; and perhaps it hadn't just died in the shade, as his father had assumed when he'd abandoned it in the bushes. It might have hatched into a confusing world without care or understanding, only the scent of Okassis on the cooling rags that had wrapped its shell. And by some twist of fate, if it might have lived long enough, boy and his flit might be reunited - perhaps never knowing that one was the same bumbling Trader that had dreamed of dragons, while the other was the egg that no one thought could live to crack shell....

Or else, perhaps this story is meant to merely be a tragic step on Okassis's quest to Impress, knowing guiltily what he'd done that made him undeserving, but fueled just the same to make change in a system that alienated his caravan from the Holds and dragonriders, destroyed his relationship with his father, and claimed the life of an innocent egg that had likely never had much chance in the first place.

Name: Bharie
Color: Gold
Design: Pixie dust swirls faintly across vague molten gold-platinum, creating filigrees of brilliance across this slightly smallish Golds' hide. Almost intangible, she moves with a regality which only she seems capable of, dainty and mystical and airy. Nothing she does is less than well-thought-out, no movement or twitch or flick, and it shows in the care with which she carries her every inch, tail just so, wings slightly aloft, head high. Pale copper washes over well-placed neck ridges, seeping into little wisps along her neck and back, a slight departure from the beauty of eternal gold and faint glitter. She is well-built and easily can be described as proportioned well; nothing is too long, nothing is too short, she is simple and clean and not overly delicate or muscular. Pretty, of course, but none too strong, and none too light. Athletic, yes. Lean and long, she can move with the speed of a small Bronze, though she's pretty average in size for her color -- attribute it to hours of exercising, if you will. Overall, she's a beautiful creature, dainty but not petite, muscular but not bulky...light but not intangible...pretty, one could say.

Reason for design: Bharie's a firelizard that was gifted to me on a text-based game and I'd be infinitely happy to see her colored up. =3 INFINITELY. <3333
Story: I really can't think of any interesting way for M'zaji to find Bharie's egg. I can't imagine that he'd ever WILLINGLY buy an egg, so someone might have to gift it to him, or something... Or maybe he ends up taking care of it for a friend, and it hatches while said friend is away. -shrugs- 8am is NOT conducive to creative thinking. xDD

Design: Siamese cat. Light gold base, dark gold for the points. <3

Reason for design: It's purty. c:
Story: Basically, Talar is a bit of a b***h, and won't take just any Firelizard. She isn't necessarily a pet person, but she figures a Gold firelizard would be a status symbol, proof of her awesome. So she would wait for a clutch of eggs and by some means- either paying with money or things that she could weave, ect ect- she would lay dibs on a Gold if there was one.

Character: Florian

Name: Rio
Color: Gold
Design: Rio is based loosely off one of my favorite horse breeds, and her design should reflect the coloring of this particular stallion representative of the breed. He is a cremello stallion, which is a dilute of the chestnut/red gene, but as with most Akhal Tekes, his coat shimmers with a golden sheen that is just breathtaking in person. Translated onto the little golden queen, her coloring should be a very pale gold, with a creamy-gold underbelly and a deeper gold along her dorsal ridges. She will not, however, have the pink undertones that this particular stallion has, since the pink comes from his skin color and if anything, on Rio she would have a very faint green tint because of the color of her ichor. ICly, Rio is a light boned female, and is a little on the small side for a Queen, but she makes up for her small size with increased speed and a fiery personality. In addition, a little star like patch of creamy-white gold should appear on her chest, just above her breastbone where her underbelly coloring ends.

Stage: Firelizard
Reason for design: Florian is a fairly self sufficient guy, but with his upcoming adventure to the Southern Continent coming up, I thought he could use the company of not just one, but two firelizards. Roco is not as intelligent as Rio would be, and between the three of them, they'd be able to survive the worst nature has to throw at them and finish their adventure none the worse for the experience. Akhal Tekes are known in the horse world for their hardiness of both body and spirit, despite their deceptively light frames. Their beauty while in motion is unparalleled, as is the metallic sheen of their coats which remains that way despite some of the worst abuses a harsh desert environment can throw at them.
Story: I'm not entirely sure which way I would like Florian to acquire Rio, but I am leaning towards him discovering her on his own down in Southern. Realistically, with one firelizard already, he would not go out of his way to purchase another at Ista or at Southern Hold, so Impression would have to be very near accidental.
