Age: 21
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Craft: Former Miner apprentice, currently a server in Lower Caverns.
Rank: Candidate
Physical Description:
Jeran's height features him at about 6 ft tall. His hair is a light brown that is cut to about ear-level, though he has been debating about growing it out. His eyes are a bright hazel, which almost borderline green. Jeran's skin color is dark tan color, from his mother's dark skin. He borders on the thin side, as his muscular frame that he had as a teen has all but faded from him. His hands are rough and coarse from the six Turns spent as a Miner's apprentice.
Personality:
Jeran relates well to people, having been both a former Crafter and Weyr-bred, and is willing to be that one, outgoing guy that comes up to you and shakes your hand with an introduction. His charisma oftentimes makes him the unofficial leader of groups, however his lack of experience and confidence in himself oftentimes will make him lose his bearing and shift towards a more supportive role. People tend to gravitate towards Jeran because of his welcoming and nonjudgmental nature.
He can be, at times, immature and lacking in seriousness in certain situations, but that helps more towards his relation with children. He has found that he enjoys working with those younger than him, and hopes to be a Fosterer or some form of mentor himself some day. Jeran is slow to anger, however when he is at his breaking point, he has a tendency to lash out wildly instead of thinking it through.
His friendships have a tendency to mostly be short with others, due to him constantly trying to befriend new peers all the time. However, the few permanent friends he makes he is ever loyal towards.
History:
Jeran's biological parents are Lower Cavern's server who is his mother. She attempted to Impress a Gold but failed in the Impression, so she decided rather to live in the Weyr than return back to her Hold. His father is unknown bronze/brown rider, as his mother had attended to riders who had failed in several mating flights. He was raised by a Fosterer as most Weyrbrats are, and had a relatively regular childhood being surrounded by agemates and loving fosterers in Ista Weyr.
At age 12 he was uninterested in becoming a dragonrider, and was then apprenticed to the Miner Craft. This was due to his puberty springing earlier than most boys, and his then well-bit frame made him an obvious choice for a miner, and his love of hands-on work. However, this only lasted for about six Turns, his height made him eventually grow out of his stocky childhood frame towards a taller, leaner frame. Thus, he was deemed physically unfit to become a Journeyman miner.
He then returned to Ista Weyr, the place of his childhood, and decided to become a Lower Cavern server-the same as his mother. Despite being raised as a Weyrbrat, in the 3 years as a server he related well with his biological mother, and the two have formed a strong bond. Along with his server duties he helped several Fosterers in raising Weyrbrats- he felt as if he owed Ista's Weyrbrats the same love and care he had experienced as a child, and discovered that he enjoyed helping mentor Weyrbrats, and see many of them off to being Weyrlings.
Lately, however, he has been observing more of the Weyr's dragonriders and his former mentored Weyrlings than ever before in between his Server duties. It would seem he now intends to try as a Candidate, despite being in his early 20's and prior lack of interest. This can be attributed towards his prior background in a Weyr, his thoughts on what his task in life has shifted as his years increase, and the the kind of relationship he wonders that would develop with a dragon if he Impressed. The influence of his former mentorees as Weyrlings likely has contributed to his newfound enthusiasm for becoming a Dragonrider.
Pets: None
Other/Talents:
He seems to have a talent with children, as he enjoys storytelling, (which remains debated among his peers if he should have apprenticed a Harper). However, he lacks a very good singing voice. While he isn't strong enough to be a Miner, his physical stamina should not be underestimated.
Will this character be a candidate? Yes
