Did you know Ammit is a beast. Head of a croc, torso of a lion, and lower body of a hippo. Her purpose was filled out during the weighing of the heart ceremony.
The Egyptians believed after you were dead you heart(they believed held your memories) was weighed against the god Ma'at(the feather of truth and justice) So if you're a good person it weighed lighter and you got to go to the afterlife.
But if it weighed heavier, then you were found to be a bad person and you could not enter the afterlife. Ammit devoured your heart thereby destroying your existence. That was the worst fear the Egyptians had.
So who is scarier now?
