At exactly 6pm there was a firm knock on Kaede’s door. The weather had decided to take a turn for the worse and the rain was coming down steadily. Ruri sat in the car, slumped over the wheel and watched the rain splatter on the windshield as she waited for Hunter to bring his date back so she could start her job as chauffer for the night.

The raccoon gave the door another solid hit, his tail tucked between his legs to save it from becoming too wet. He didn’t mind the rain; training to be a hunter meant you endured bad weather without complaint. However, this was a date and he at the very least wanted his tail to be nice and fluffy.

“Get your fishy butt out here Kaede, we’ve got a movie to catch.” Hunter smirked and tapped a foot impatiently. This was going to be a good night. They would see a movie he’d been meaning to see for a while, which of course Kaede wouldn’t get a say on, and they’d have a nice dinner before that, no seafood as per request.

The door opened as soon as Hunter had finished his sentence, Kaede standing in the doorway, looking amused. Of course the raccoon hyte would be impatient. This didn't surprise him in the least, yet he couldn't help but smile, hoping that it didn't antagonize Hunter too much. Watching the Hyte grow from a child, he had been surprised to find that Hunter, as a teen, was quite stunning. He shouldn't have been -- even as a child the raccoon had been attractive, despite his anger and destructive nature -- but Kaede had just never noticed. Then, he had been more focused on being his friend, defending him when the others scolded his roughness. Now, on the other hand, it was much harder to ignore him.

Of course, the offer of a date had come quite as a surprise. He had been sure that there was something going on between Hunter and Haevan -- the two were almost inseparable. Indeed, he had almost been jealous of the two -- at times the fish hyte wished he had someone so close, someone to lean on and sleep against, as the two had done as children. Alas, he felt Nata was right -- it was almost in his nature to stand alone.

Breaking free of his reverie, the Koi grinned slightly at the figure in the rain, peering at the umbrella in amusement. "Nice to see you too, Hunter," Kaede teased, closing the door behind him before Nata had the chance to try to do something embarrassing, "Now move your bushy tail before I move it for you."

Hunter flicked said ‘bushy tail’ and then promptly turned and began heading back to the car, leaving the Koi behind him. Asking Kaede out on a date had been as much of a surprise for the racoon as it had been for the fish. It had been a spur of the moment decision. Hunter was, after all, a creature of impulse. He rarely thought too hard on what he should do, instead doing what he wanted to do.

Hunter had always been interested in the Koi and his physiology, finding the tail rather enchanting. So why not go on a date? It probably wouldn’t work out but it had been a bit of fun. Surely Kaede knew that this was hardly serious.

Reaching the car Hunter gave Kaede a low bow and opened the door for the other Hyte to get in. “Now you can’t say I’ve never been a gentleman.”

The Koi couldn't help but laugh, watching the bushy tail flick a little before following him towards the car, not at all minding the rain. He was a fish, if he didn't like water, he'd be a very odd fish indeed.

Kaede smiled a little, amused by the gentlemanly bow and slid into the car, trying not to grin. "I would never claim that," He replied, waiting until the raccoon had gotten into the car before glancing over at him, still smiling, probably like an idiot. While he waited, he gave a polite smile to Ruri, bowing his head a little in greeting, "Thank you for driving us, Miss Ruri -- I hope you're doing well." He had never been on a date before... he had been extremely surprised when Hunter had asked him. He liked it though -- he doubted his view of Hunter would ever change, even if this didn't work out, something that made the whole process much more enjoyable. Hunter was one of his favorite Hytes, if he allowed himself to have favorites (he tried to keep everyone equal). Even when he was younger, Kaede had always wanted to be Hunter's friend. There was something... endearing about the Raccoon Hyte, something so different than himself that he liked. He was bold, he was a little sassy, and he was so confident!

"So, dear Hunter, where are we going for dinner?" He asked with an amused smile, perfectly relaxed. For some reason he wasn't all that nervous on his first date. Perhaps it was Hunter's charisma.
